American Civil War & UK History
**American Civil War & UK History Podcast**
The podcast was born on December 26th, 2020, and I have always been passionate about history from a young age. My interest in the American Civil War began in 2004 after watching the movie *Gettysburg*. Since then, my passion for this topic has only grown. Although I don't live in America and cannot easily access the Civil War battlefields, I reside in the beautiful county of Kent, known as the Garden of England. Kent has a rich history, which has also fueled my fascination with UK history. This inspired the name of my podcast, *American Civil War & UK History*.
While I have a general love for all history, I realized I had confined myself to specific topics. To expand my discussions, I created two other podcasts in 2024: *For the Passion of History*, where I explore various historical subjects that interest me, and *The Figures of the American Civil War*, focusing on the remarkable individuals of that period.
The goal of my platforms is to share my passion for history with like-minded individuals. Cheers,
Daz

In this episode of American Civil War & UK History Podcast Daz was joined by three of the best historians on the planet, Chris Kolakowski, Mark Wheatcroft & Tim Willging, to discuss arguably one of the biggest events in world history D-Day.
D-Day - 6 June 1944 - was the largest amphibious invasion in history. Codenamed Operation Overlord. The Allies would use over 5,000 ships and landing craft to land more than 150,000 troops on five beaches in Normandy France. The British would land at Gold and Sword the Canadians on Juno and the Americans at Omaha and Utah by the end of that day, the Allied forces
had established a strong foothold along the coast and could begin their advance into France.
