In this episode of American Civil War & UK History, Podcast Daz was joined by historian Mark Wheatcroft of Mark's English History Channel to discuss The Zulu Wars. The Battles of Isandlwana & Rorke's Drift.
The British Army suffered a shocking defeat at Isandlwana, before a small garrison fought a legendary defence at Rorke’s Drift just hours later. Two battles, one day, and a defining moment in imperial history—now regarded as two of the most famous engagements in British military history. In 1964, the film Zulu, starring Michael Caine and Stanley Baker, brought Rorke’s Drift to the big screen and remains widely regarded as one of the greatest war films ever made.
