American Civil War & UK History
**American Civil War & UK History Podcast**
The podcast was born on December 26th, 2020, and I have always been passionate about history from a young age. My interest in the American Civil War began in 2004 after watching the movie *Gettysburg*. Since then, my passion for this topic has only grown. Although I don't live in America and cannot easily access the Civil War battlefields, I reside in the beautiful county of Kent, known as the Garden of England. Kent has a rich history, which has also fueled my fascination with UK history. This inspired the name of my podcast, *American Civil War & UK History*.
While I have a general love for all history, I realized I had confined myself to specific topics. To expand my discussions, I created two other podcasts in 2024: *For the Passion of History*, where I explore various historical subjects that interest me, and *The Figures of the American Civil War*, focusing on the remarkable individuals of that period.
The goal of my platforms is to share my passion for history with like-minded individuals. Cheers,
Daz

In this episode of the American Civil War and UK History podcast, host Daz was joined by historian and author Dr. Brian Matthew Jordan to discuss the assassination of the 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.
On April 14, 1865, Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, was shot by John Wilkes Booth while attending the play Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C. Shot in the head as he watched the play, Lincoln died of his wounds the following day at 7:22 am. in the Petersen House opposite the theater. He was the first U.S. president to be assassinated. His funeral and burial were marked by an extended period of national mourning.
