Show Notes

The Local Lens is a public health podcast going inside one community's experience with the drug epidemic. Everyone in the town of Stanton, KY sees this drug issue differently from each other, either because of their personal lives or professional roles. This show aims to showcase those different perspectives by having honest, in-depth interviews.

We are visiting Eastern Kentucky Recovery in this episode to take a look behind the scenes of an intensive out-patient program. People needing treatment might come here for care after going through the initial steps of recovery at an in-patient facility. This out-patient program allows people to come receive treatment and return home at the end of the day.

We are welcoming Tracy Fryman, founder of Central Kentucky Recovery and Eastern Kentucky Care. She is joined by Scott Seitz, who has been a guest on a previous episode.

This episode covers several learning topics, including the effects of Hepatitis C, the importance of building relationships with patients in medical care, and how medicine can be used to effectively improve living conditions.

These are our people, using our voices, telling our stories, because no one sees it like we do.
