Show Notes

The Local Lens is a public health podcast going inside one community's experience with the drug epidemic. Everyone in the town of Stanton, KY sees this drug issue differently from each other, either because of their personal lives or professional roles. This show aims to showcase those different perspectives by having honest, in-depth interviews.

Richard Penick is helping bring recovery to the hospital. He spends some of his time working in the Emergency Department at King's Daughters Hospital in Ashland, KY. His main function there is simply to meet with people during moments of crisis, after receiving some emergency service. He is offering ways out of the messy and dangerous life many of the visitors know well. He can offer this because he has been there, too.

In this episode, we are getting to know Richard Penick. The next episode in our series will be hearing about his involvement at the hospital. This guy is a testament to resiliency. We are lucky to have him as an example of as, in his own words, resurrection of life.

These are our people, using our voices, telling our stories, because no one sees it like we do.

Richard is employed by Pathways, you can find them online at or reach them by phone at 606-324-1141.
