The Local Lens is a public health podcast going inside one community's experience with the drug epidemic. Everyone in the town of Stanton, KY sees this drug issue differently from each other, either because of their personal lives or professional roles. This show aims to showcase those different perspectives by having honest, in-depth interviews.
This episode features Donna and John Isfort of Estill County, KY. The two are true community champions for recovery. After seeing the data showing that Estill lead the country in overdoses per person, they decided to take action.
Since then, they have rallied a crew around the county to pursue widespread recovery. This crew has been valiantly starting new harm reduction practices to match the epidemic. Only time and data will tell how effective their efforts have been, but we can be certain they've helped.
