Shreyans from Canvaloop fibre: Sustainable Jeans
Show Notes
Have you heard of jeans made from banana and pineapple waste?  Most likely not. While the agri waste-based fibres have been around for decades, it has remained a cottage industry, as these fibres can’t be mass produced in spinning machines and such fabric doesn’t have smooth texture.

Excited to share a new episode, where I speak with Shreyans Kokra, founder of Canvaloop fibre (https://www.canvaloop.com/collections/al), which is transforming agri waste into fibres that can be spun in machines, and produce soft fabric.

Shreyans grew up in Surat, the textile hub of India, where his family owned a textile mill. He studied entrepreneurship at Babson Graduate school of business, USA and it was during his business school days that he thought of creating sustainable textiles. Later in 2017, on his return to India, Canvaloop was formally incorporated. Its fibres are sold to several international brands including Levi’s and GAP. Additionally, Canvaloop also offers its brand of sustainable jeans under the name “Slow Jeans” We talk about the following

1.     Why do we need sustainable fibres?

2.     The market opportunity for sustainable fibres

3.     Unique strengths of Canvaloop

4.     Timeless Fashion through sustainable clothing
