Like most biotechnologists Vanita was on her way to pursue a career in life sciences, when a chance visit to a slum helped her realize that unhygienic living conditions were the cause of most diseases and improving waste management systems could address many health-related problems. She then changed the topic of her doctoral thesis to waste management & developed a patent on creating hydrogen (fuel) from waste.
Vanita is now founder of REVY environmental solutions, that supplies bio cultures to improve the efficiency and profitability of waste management companies. Over the last 5 years, Vanita has helped revive many non-operational wastes to energy plants and also inspired many women to consider waste management as a career option.
