Today we focus on a specific situation where one spouse needs Medicaid. People really don't understand this issue and think they will lose everything or at best lose half. However, if a couple is under $1 million, NOT counting the home, they can probably qualify for Medicaid really quick and keep everything.
Also, DIVORCE IS NOT THE ANSWER. So many times, the advice given by non-Elder Law Attorneys is to get a divorce to keep half. Well, that is horrible advice. An Elder Law Attorney who knows what they are doing can protect most if not all of the assets within reason.
