In part one of this two-part series Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Felicia Crawford-Randle sits down with author and St. Louis native Vivian Gibson. Felicia and Vivian discuss Vivian’s inspiration to write “The Last Children of Mill Creek,” a memoir that recounts her experience growing up in the Mill Creek Valley neighborhood, the history of the community, and the ultimate displacement of 20,000 Black residents when construction began on Highway 40 in 1959.
