Let me ask you a question. Have you ever felt like you're doing everything right with your podcast? You're showing up, you're recording episodes, you're putting in the work, but it's just not translating into growth, leads, or clients. Your download numbers feel stuck, your audience isn't really engaging, and you're starting to wonder if your podcast is actually helping your business, or if it's just adding another thing to your plate. If that sounds familiar, then today's episode is for you. Because sometimes the problem isn't your effort. Sometimes the problem is that your podcast simply needs a strategic reset. And that's exactly what we're talking about today: the five signs your podcast might need in audit. Let's get into it. Welcome to Podcasting for Moms, the show for moms in business ready to start, grow, and scale a podcast that turns your listeners into buyers. I'm Jenny Summerson, a podcast strategist and fellow mom entrepreneur. You're in the right place if you want to learn how to start and grow a podcast that attracts your ideal clients and really does the heavy lifting for you when it comes to selling your offers, all while balancing life as a busy mom. Are you ready to create a podcast that grows your income, impact, and influence? Let's make podcasting work for you. Because as moms, we know how to get things done. All right, let's jump into the episode. Hey, hey, and welcome back to Podcasting for Moms, the show that helps online entrepreneurs start, grow, and scale a podcast that actually supports their business. Because here's the truth Podcasting is one of the most powerful ways to build trust, authority, and connection with your audience, but only if your podcast is built strategically. Without that strategy, it's really easy to end up in a place where you're publishing new episodes consistently, but the podcast itself isn't actually moving your business forward. And that's where a podcast audit can make a huge difference. An audit helps you step back, look at the bigger picture, and identify what's working, what's not, and what small tweaks could completely change the trajectory of your show. So today I want to walk you through the five signs that your podcast might be due for an audit. So the first sign is that your podcast is not bringing in leads or clients. And this first sign is a big one. So no leads, no enquiries or clients. Now let me be clear, not every episode needs to sell something. But if your podcast is meant to support your business, it should be doing at least one of these things: bringing new people into your world, warming up potential clients, and driving people towards your offers. And if you've been podcasting for a while and you're not seeing any of that happen, there is a good chance that the strategy behind the podcast needs adjusting. Often when I audit a podcast, I notice things like no clear call to action or CTA, episodes that don't connect back to the business, and a content strategy that really just isn't in line with what that person offers. And the good news is all these things are fixable. Sometimes a few strategic shifts can completely change how your podcast supports your business. The second sign is that your downloads have plateaued. So this doesn't necessarily mean that your podcast is failing, but if your downloads have been sitting in the same place for months, or worse, they've been slowly declining, that's usually a signal that something in your visibility or discoverability strategy needs to change. So this is going to be things like your episode titles, your SEO strategy, your content positioning, your promotion plan. All these pieces influence whether new people are actually finding your show or not. And sometimes podcasters assume that the solution is just creating more new content, but more content doesn't automatically equal more growth. Often what's needed here is a strategic adjustment to the content that you're already creating. Okay, sign number three. You feel like you're creating content without a plan. And this is one that I see all the time. You sit down to record and you think, what am I even talking about this week? When your podcast content starts to feel random or reactive, it's usually because the show doesn't have a clear content strategy to begin with. Instead of episodes working together to build authority and move listeners towards the next step in your funnel, they become more like standalone conversations. And while those episodes can still be valuable, they're often not working together strategically. A podcast audit helps identify things like content gaps, opportunities for strategic episode series, and ways to structure episodes so that they naturally lead to your offers. Because when your content has a clear direction, podcasting feels a lot easier. Okay, now on to the fourth sign. And that is your podcast feels harder than it should. And this one is especially important for moms. If your podcast constantly feels overwhelming, exhausting, or unsustainable, that is a red flag. Podcasting should not require you to spend hours every single week feeling stressed out about production, editing, promotion, or planning. Sometimes when I review podcasts, I see creators doing things the hardest way possible. They have overcomplicated workflows, they're trying to post to too many platforms, and their content processes are taking way too long. A podcast audit can often simplify the entire system because the goal isn't just growth. The goal is building a podcast that fits into your life and your business. So then we have the fifth and final side, and that is that you've been podcasting for a while, but you're not sure what's actually working. So say you've been podcasting for months or maybe even years, but you honestly don't know what's working and what isn't. You're not sure which episodes perform best, what topics your audience loves, where listeners are actually coming from, and what's actually driving growth. And without that information, it becomes really hard to make strategic decisions about your show. A podcast audit looks at the data behind the podcast and uses that information to guide your future decisions. Instead of guessing what to do next, you can make adjustments based on real insight. So if you recognize yourself in one or more of these signs, please know this. It doesn't mean that your podcast is broken. In fact, many of the podcasts that I audit are actually much closer to success than the host realizes. They usually just need a few strategic tweaks, a clearer content plan, stronger calls to action, and better alignment between the podcast and the business. And once those pieces are in place, then the podcast starts working with the business instead of sitting beside it. So if you'd like help figuring out what's working inside your podcast and what might need adjusting, then there's two ways I can help you. So the first way is if you're listening to this episode before April 15th of 26, I am hosting a free podcast growth audit workshop. You can find all the details by going to podcastingformoms.co slash workshop. And that is going to be a free workshop that we walk through these different things. However, if you're listening to this after the fact or you want something that is a little more one-on-one and not as much DIY, I do offer podcast growth audits where we take a deep dive into your show. And this is where we're going to look at things like your content strategy, your podcast overall positioning, your calls to action, and your visibility and discoverability. And we're going to identify the small but powerful changes that can help your podcast grow and support your business. You can learn more about how to get your hands on a podcast audit by going to the show notes. I have all the links there. And if this episode was helpful for you, please feel free to share with another podcaster who might be wondering why their podcast isn't growing the way that they hoped.
