If you feel like your podcast isn't growing and your first instinct is to do more, more episodes, more content, more promotion, then I need you to hear this. Growing your podcast is probably not about doing more. It's about doing what you're already doing, but doing it better. And today I'm going to be showing you the simplest way to grow your podcast without adding anything new to your plate. Let's dive in.

Welcome to Podcasting for Moms, the show for moms in business ready to start, grow, and scale a podcast that turns your listeners into buyers. I'm Jenny Summerson, a podcast strategist and fellow mom entrepreneur. You're in the right place if you want to learn how to start and grow a podcast that attracts your ideal clients and really does the heavy lifting for you when it comes to selling your offers, all while balancing life as a busy mom. Are you ready to create a podcast that grows your income, impact, and influence? Let's make podcasting work for you. Because as moms, we know how to get things done. All right, let's jump into the episode.

Hey, hey, and welcome to Podcasting for Moms, where we keep podcasting simple, strategic, and actually doable in the margins of motherhood. I'm your host, Johnny Sunnison, a podcast strategist, and your go-to for turning your podcast into something that actually supports your business, not just takes up your time. And this episode's gonna be a bit of a mindset shift, but also very tactical. Because if you've been stuck in the cycle of I just need to be more consistent, or I should post more, or maybe I need to start over, then this is your permission slip to stop. Let's get into it. So somewhere along the way, we were taught that growth equals volume, more episodes equals more downloads, more content equals more visibility, and more effort equals more results. But here's what I see every single day working with podcasters. They are already doing enough. They're just not leveraging it. They're recording episodes, but those episodes aren't positioned to get found. They're showing up consistently, but the content they're putting out is not converting. They're promoting, but there's no clear path from listener to lead to client. So instead of growth feeling simple, it feels absolutely exhausting. So let's talk about the simplest way to grow. So the simplest way to grow your podcast is to optimize what already exists. Not create more content, not start over, and definitely not burn it down. Just make what you already have work harder for you. And this breaks down into three core areas. So the first area is optimizing for discovery. So if people can't find your podcast, then they're not gonna be able to listen to it. This means your podcast title should be searchable. Your episode's title should be clear and keyword rich as well. And your descriptions should actually tell platforms who your content is for. Because your podcast isn't just content, it is a search engine. And most podcasters are massively underutilizing this. The second thing I want you to do is improve your first 60 seconds of the episode. And this is the fastest win because your growth isn't just about getting clicks, it's about keeping people listening once they get there. Your first 30 to 60 seconds of your episode should call out a specific problem, make a clear promise, and give someone a reason to stick around. Not, hey guys, welcome back to the podcast. Because that is where you lose people. And yes, I know I do a hey guys, welcome back to the podcast, but I have a hook first. And the hook is compelling enough to keep people around before I dive into that, hey, welcome back to the podcast segment. Then we have the third thing, and that is add a clear conversion path. This is the piece almost everyone is missing. So you might be getting listeners, but what if they don't know what to do next? That means you're leaving growth and revenue on the table. Every episode should lead somewhere and just one place. So whether that is to direct them to join your email list, to download a freebie, to book a call, to check in an offer that you're promoting, your episode should be leading to someplace. Because a growing podcast isn't just about downloads, it is about direction. So I want to share a real life example of what this actually looks like. So instead of recording three brand new episodes this week, you could go back and rewrite 10 of your episode titles. You could update your episode descriptions with keywords. You could update your podcast name with keywords. You could update your name field with keywords. You could update your description, like your overall podcast description with keywords. That is an easy way to get your show in front of more people. You could fix your intros on upcoming episodes, and you can add a simple call to action to your top performing content. Same podcast, same content, but now it is working for you instead of just existing. And this is really about shifting from I need to do more to grow to how can I make what I already have more effective? Because sustainable growth, especially as a mom building in the margins, has to come from refinement, not expansion. You do not need a bigger workload and to add more tasks to your plate. You just need a better strategy. And if you're listening to this and you're thinking, okay, I know my podcast could be doing more, but I don't know where the gaps are. That is exactly what I help people with inside of my podcast growth audit. We look at what's not getting you found, what's not keeping listeners engaged, and what's not converting into leads or clients. And then we fix it without adding more to your plate. To learn more about the podcast growth audit, you can go to podcastingformoms.co slash audit. Once again, that is podcastingformoms.co slash audit. And I also link it in the show notes as well. So yeah, your podcast doesn't need more from you. It just needs to work better for you. And that starts with what you already have. All right, that's it for this episode. I'll see you in the next one. Thank you for tuning in to Podcasting for Moms.
