Akala: The Seriousness of Small Joys
•
Port Magazine
To celebrate Port’s 10th anniversary, we’ve partnered with Giorgio Armani on a two-issue Commentary special. Working with contemporary writers to bring you incredible original work, we present here, for the first instalment, a new piece of writing from the award-winning musician and best-selling author Akala. Titled 'The Seriousness of Small Joys', his deft polemic reflects on the art of not knowing. Afterwards, he catches up with guest contributor and politics editor of Gal-Dem – Moya Lothian-Mclean – to discuss the piece, how to challenge self-importance, and the thinking behind his debut work of fiction The Dark Lady.
