The Smiths, one of the finest bands produced by Britain (or anywhere).  Mick rates their third album,  "The Queen is Dead", as one of the most exceptional albums ever made.  We talk about where they came from, their influences, and why they are still popular today, over thirty years after they split.

Jeff brings you up to speed on recent rock deaths, talking about Jeff Beck, David Crosby and Renee Geyer, among others.

Our Album You Must Hear Before You Die is “New Wave”, by The Auteurs.  Mick damns it with faint praise, but then, he’s very picky!!

References:  Robbie Bachman, David Crosby, Anita Pointer, The Pointer Sisters, Rodney Rude,  This is a Man’s World, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Johnny Rogan, The Severed Alliance, “The Smiths”, Johnny Marr, Morrissey, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Neil Young, David Bowie, “Meat is Murder”, “The Queen is Dead”, “Strangeways Here we Come”, “How soon is now?”, “The Headmaster Ritual”, Rickenbacker, Phil Manzanera, “Panic”, Matt Johnson, The The, Mike Joyce (drums), Andy Rourke (bass), The wit of Steven Morrissey, The Smiths are very popular among depressed
