Speaking with Women
Speaking with women is a global conversation on being visible and crafting your professional path when you are a woman.
The options we have, the brands we build, the permissions we give ourselves.
It is a show about showing up.
You will hear the voices of real women from all over the world discussing a variety of subjects. There are special editions such as the 2020 Virtual Coffee Tour or the Unmistakable series, but also solo episodes where we dive into some of the more common roadblocks you might encounter as a professional woman and what you can do to Find your Voice, Own your Story and Step into your Power.
Speaking with Women
Ep. 11 Should we stop "telling" women they have imposter syndrome?
In this week’s episode of Speaking with Women, I “chat” about the Harvard Business Review article titled “Stop telling women they have imposter syndrome”.
Its core thesis is that women have been wrongly “diagnosed” with imposter syndrome, but that the real issue is toxic workplaces that have not been designed for women to succeed.
You can’t disagree with that statement, can you?
Well, I did. Initially.
My thinking has evolved, and in this episode, what I want to contribute to the conversation is that pinpointing systemic bias and failures of the workplace as the causes of imposter syndrome in women, women of colour and other marginalize folks, is not useful in and of itself. There needs to be another dimension added.
