EP 140: Your Assignment is Too Great

Hi family, I'm Jordan Thorpe, and this is Jordan's Journey channel where we are moving forward in life and in faith. If you're new here, welcome. If you're already subscribed to the family, welcome back. Thank you so much for tuning in. And today, family, I wanted to talk to you in regards to they cannot go with you. Okay, they cannot go with you. And in my previous video entitled Your Table is Ready, I was talking about how many of you God has been preparing you to lead. Many of you are going to be well respected for your gifts and the things that God is calling you to do. And that your table is ready. God has prepared a table in front of your enemies. Okay, many of you have been surrounded by people that may not have had your best interests, but they get front row seats to watching God elevate you and take you from glory to glory. And many people are even regretting how they treated you, how they talked about you, because they didn't know who you are. Okay, many of you have been in environments where God kept your identity hidden. He kept the true nature of who you are hidden to protect you. Sometimes God will hide our identity to protect us, to confuse the enemy. They don't know how you're doing what you're doing. They don't know how you're maneuvering, they don't know how you keep overcoming because they don't know who you are. And so many of you, a table has been prepared. God has made a way out of no way. And you are elevating into a life where people that once had access to you will no longer have access to you. And God is saying that many people who you may have loved, who you may have had deep connection and relationship with, they are not going to be able to go with you to this next level. Because sometimes we can go back and forth with God because we love them and we care about them. And God is saying, if you cannot let go of things that no longer serve you, you are not fit to be my disciple. You are not fit to lead. You are not fit for the promise. Because nothing can go above your relationship with God. Anything that is pulling you back, anything that is keeping you in bondage, that is not adding to where God is taking you, that is not adding to the identity that God has given you, has to be removed. And so if you're unable to let people go and cut off situations that are no longer serving you, you are unfit. God is saying your table is ready, but everyone cannot have a seat at your table. There are people that had close proximity to you in the last season that can no longer have access to you. And many of you know who these people are because you've been going back and forth with God and you have been contemplating, Lord, what should I do? How should I maneuver? And God is saying, Let them go. I want to read some scripture. I want to read some scripture, and this is Luke 14. Luke 14, and this is entitled The Cost of Being a Disciple. To be a follower of Christ is going to cost you some things, it's going to cost you some people, it's going to cost you some relationships, it's going to cost you your old self, it's going to cost you your own desires. And so this is Jesus talking to the crowd and letting them know the cost of what it's going to be to be his follower. He's saying, Before you come and follow me, I need you to count the cost because you don't want to start something that you can't finish. You don't want to start building something and not have all the money and the resources you need to build it and stop building because you didn't count the cost. And then you look silly and then you look foolish because you didn't complete the mission. You didn't complete what you were supposed to complete. And so Jesus is telling the crowd, you need to count the cost before you just get up and follow me, because it is going to cost you some things. So starting at verse 25, it reads, A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else. Your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple, and if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. But don't begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. They would say there's the person who started that building and couldn't afford to finish it. Or what king would go to war against another king without first sitting down with his counselors to discuss whether his army of ten thousand could defeat the twenty thousand soldiers marching against him. And if he can't, he will send the delegation to discuss terms of peace while the enemy is still far away. So you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own. Salt is good for seasoning, but if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again? Flavorless salt is good neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown away. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand. And that concludes the reading of the word. And so the first thing Jesus says to them is if you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else. And then he goes to list the closest people to you. Your father, your mother, your wife, your children, brothers and sisters. Yes, even your own life. So you have to get to a place in your life where nothing comes before God. You were not willing to compromise to please other people. You're not willing to compromise your relationship with God. You're not willing to compromise your covenant. This is what Jesus is telling them. This is what has to happen in order for you to be my disciple, to be my follower. There are going to be some people that you're going to have to leave behind. And it may even be the closest people to you, but nothing can come before the mission. Nothing can come before the covenant. Nothing can come before what I'm calling you to do. He says, otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. There's some things that you're going to have to die to. Yes, we have free will and we have our own desires. But you're going to have to die to those desires in order to be in alignment with what God has for you. God is saying they can't go with you. There's some people in your life that you have been connected to, and they're not able to come with you in this next season of your life. He says, so you cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own. Salt is good for seasoning, but if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again? And so God is saying, the more you give up, the more saltier you become. The more you give up, the more He can use you. The more you give up, the better a vessel you can be for the Holy Spirit. God is saying some of you have been losing your seasoning because of the people that you are allowing to have access to you. And God is saying, I know that some of this is uncontrollable. I know that sometimes we can be in environments that are uncontrollable. But God is saying, as I release you and as I have prepared this table for you in front of them, there has to be some boundaries that have to be set up because I need you to be salty. I need you not to lose your seasoning. I need to be able to use you. The calling and this the assignment that is on your life requires you to have a lot of seasoning, requires you to be salty. And God is saying the more you give up, the more saltier you become. These people can't go with you to where God is taking you. They haven't picked up their cross, they had many opportunities and chances to get right, but they chose their fate, they chose their destiny, and we are in a time where God is separating, He is separating the wheat and the tear. There is a great separation that is happening. God is not just relocating you for no reason, He's not just separating you from these people for no reason. There is a separation that is happening with His children. Well you're no longer just going to be blending in like you're regular, like you're not a child of God, like there's not a huge assignment on your life. God is saying that is done. You're being separated now. You have passed your test, your table is being prepared for you. I want to read some some more scripture. This is coming from Luke, Luke 3. And this is John the Baptist speaking, and he's preparing the way. He's preparing the way for the Messiah, and he's telling the people that, yes, I baptize you with water, but there is someone who is coming where you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit, with the Holy Ghost, a spiritual baptism. So John was doing a physical baptism, and Jesus was coming with a spiritual baptism. And this is what John the Baptist was saying to the people. So if we go to Luke 3, verse 15, it reads, Everyone was expecting the Messiah to come soon, and they were eager to know whether John might be the Messiah. John answered their questions by saying, I baptize you with water, but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am, so much greater that I'm not even worthy to be his slave and unite the straps of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. He is ready to separate the shaf from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into the barn, but burning the shaw with never ending fire. John used many such warnings as he announced the good news to the people. So John was announcing the good news, but he was also announcing warnings. And many of the people that God is telling you to let go have been warned. And now we are in a time where it says in verse 17, He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn, but burning the shaft with never-ending fire. And so we are in a season where God is separating the shaft from the wheat. So many of you are the wheat that is being separated. Many of you are relocating, you're moving, you're in transition. New things are happening for you because you have been separated. You are no longer blending in with the shaft. You were no longer having to be around environments of unbelievers because it was out of your control. That is over. You are being separated. He says, then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn. So he's cleaning up house, he's cleaning up the threshing area. He's removing all of the wheat and all of the weeds, all of the chaff. He's cleaning it up and he's gathering all the wheat. He's gathering all of his children, he's gathering all of the remnant, he's gathering all the believers, he's gathering everyone who still followed him and praised him even during the suffering, even during the hardship. He's gathering everyone who stood tall and stood on his word and still believed and had faith. He's gathering those wheat into the barn. So many of you, we are being gathered up. You are being separated and gathered. You're being gathered up, you're in the hands of God, you're in the palm of God's hands. God said, You've been in my hands the whole time. I know you were surrounded, and it looked like you were surrounded by your enemies. It looked like there was no way out, but you have been in my hand the whole entire time. And I'm gathering you up, and I'm positioning you, and I'm placing you into the things that I have for you. God said you were being separated, you are being separated, and there's some people in your life, people who you loved, people who were very close to you, have very close proximity to you, who can no longer have access to you. And many of you have you you've been praying, you may have been asking God, what what should I do? God is saying you have to let them go. Because they do not add to your saltiness. God says, I need you salty for this assignment, I need you salty for where I'm taking you, I need you to be seasoned, and so anything that is not adding to your saltiness, to your seasoning has to go.
