Hi i'm Olma, Flynn, March, Ceallach, Shraya and i'm your DM Ethan welcome to Venture Forth
hello i'm faraday flynn and i'm your dm ethan welcome to
0:05
ventureforth [Music]
0:37
previously you all had made your way back to oak inspire with the intent of freeing some of your guys's friends from
0:44
the prison there after a little bit of a debate on how you guys might do that and a long
0:50
night's rest where flynn had finally figured out a a piece of the puzzle in order to cast some more spells um you
0:57
guys went about your day to figure out how to get into this prison uh you guys had an eventful breakfast and uh after
1:05
kellogg had discovered some books with a little bit of a history of oak inspire and a little bit more in-depth knowledge
1:11
of where the prison was and and how the city works you guys were greeted by a large copper
1:17
dragonborn by the name of faraday um she had disclosed to you guys that she used
1:23
to work at the prison she is ex-military and she was sent by hayfried to help you guys actually get into the prison um
1:30
though not at a small price um she had offered her services and you guys had gone about going to the prison
1:38
and just sort of scoping out the outside and by the end of your walk you guys had
1:44
formulated a coherent plan um you guys had decided
1:49
that um you guys were gonna gonna pose as not military necessarily but
1:55
some people who are going to be going in to inspect certain areas of the prison and with faraday's help you guys are
2:00
hoping that this thing is going to go off without a hitch so currently it is still morning you guys are sort of scouting
2:07
the perimeter of the prison and as you guys are traveling um sort of along the this massive wall in front of
2:15
you that that marks the outer walls of the prison um you guys are sort of walking around to the left and just as
2:21
you you pass this corner of this massive wall um you can actually see the the
2:28
front of this wall the main entrance um you see that the walls come together and they
2:35
stop to form this small slit that is probably only a couple of meters wide
2:41
um and that's the the main entrance to the prison it seems very well guarded um
2:46
and that's just about all you guys can can gleam is you're still a couple streets back and and looking at this
2:52
thing from a distance um so just having maybe formulated somewhat of a plan what
2:58
are you guys gonna do so we know how we're getting in
3:05
any plans on how to get out well it occurs to me that maybe we could do a
3:10
relay of sorts but maybe we divide up and
3:15
some of us go to find these people and then somehow someone transfers them to a party that's
3:22
there to get them out uh fair today is there
3:27
are there ways out are there any you know smaller tunnels that maybe lead out to
3:34
the city or something it's a mine out of the prison
3:42
unless you have a way to scale with all your um
3:48
all the people that you've come here to save unless you have a way to scale these walls really
3:54
you're looking right at your only option of escaping okay
4:01
what about how far apart guards are on the wall like is there any section of wall that
4:07
doesn't have as many guards the walls are constantly
4:12
patrolled okay but if that patrol
4:19
went to sleep and
4:25
i i see like there are like little hollows like in the wall like how far apart are they i mean
4:30
if say we got to a section and the patrol for that section wasn't around
4:37
because of reason reasons
4:42
how much time would we have in my time doing the the duty
4:48
did i work on the patrol do i know like how about how long it takes to do like watch their sections
4:54
um you had taken over patrol a couple of times not as much as when you were in
5:00
the main section of the prison um but you uh you do know it's a pretty constant watch if
5:08
something like that were to happen if a patrol were to go to sleep um you would know that there is about let's
5:15
say a five-minute window um where no guards would would pass that area um
5:22
but you do know that on the perimeter guards all patrol in um in groups of
5:28
three there's always three of them together um so that's what you would do
5:33
so the issue is that on these patrols you've got about three guards generally that are
5:41
patrolling you may have at most five minutes where
5:47
if if you can find a way to to get through that that is your grace period
5:55
okay so five minutes to run
6:00
from one section or like from the main wherever we come out to a section of wall
6:08
to get rid of three people to then break through the wall here's my thought right um
6:16
timmy i feel like it's an easy one zera maybe uh also easy possibly
6:22
i think we focus on getting them out through this window of opportunity that we'd have and then
6:27
uh with xavier i think we hope that xavier has some skill he can apply because
6:34
by the time we're that deep in there's gonna be more than our patrols we'll have to get past with
6:40
him so you think we should get two out first before we even go look for xavier
6:45
i think that may be wise otherwise we're trekking through the mines the prisons with timmy well
6:51
maybe zeta can help do you know the state of these so there are three people three three
6:58
beings you're trying to get out do you know the health status of them how much assistance are they going to need
7:03
don't know anything about sata really anything about zeratul but uh timmy i
7:09
think was fine as long as they didn't break his knees or something i have an idea
7:14
so we have one kid that's locked in the top area and we
7:19
have another person that's from a temple who is also a healer like you
7:26
you're going there to heal people or check on well-being what if what if timmy is very very ill and we
7:35
need to get another temple person to help and there just so happens
7:41
to be one later on and we bring up bring up theta and have her help
7:47
what she's in present far but maybe if maybe we can pretend that it's like she has the answer to solve his ailment
7:55
and then maybe we say we need to take him to a temple or else he's going to die and that's how we get them out of here
8:00
because if we break them out and we cause alarm it's going to be a lot harder to get xavier out or to get to
8:05
xavier is it possible that we could say that her god
8:12
and gives her something different to help with yeah then you're gone
8:17
i don't know how the new gods work that well but i i guess it stands for reason
8:23
depends on who we're arguing with
8:29
so the proposal is we find timmy we discover some ailment terrible yes
8:36
uh it is beyond my power to heal we look through i understand that
8:42
zeta is among their ranks here but we need th but but first before even any of this first we have to get the manifest
8:49
because if we can see the manifest then you can say i will look through the manifest and see if there's anybody from other temples here and then you can find
8:56
zeta or you can ask and be hey timmy's really really sick do you have anyone in
9:01
this prison that is a healer it has to be that i know zero is an
9:08
accomplishment from the temple of satan's temple later um
9:13
i i think it's fine that uh the the temples are fairly well connected at least in my experience i don't know
9:19
how much different it is in kaldor but a we knew every kaaoom and kaji
9:26
fairly well maybe not by a first name but you would know what temple they held from and what their works were so it
9:32
could be that i know that zeta is an accomplished healer and that this is a particular element that is uh
9:39
her speciality but wouldn't it be shocking like you shouldn't know that she's in prison maybe if you guys are
9:44
well versed in each other's ongoings maybe you know that zeta has been locked up just from talking to other temples
9:50
yes that seems a little bit i don't think so because if you look at the manifest first anyway it seems a little
9:55
bit like shady to be like oh you also have this person it's like no you need to look at
10:01
the manifest and that's how you discover that she's there and then you'll be like she should be able to do this will they let us
10:07
have the manifest well we would need it in order to inspect all of the all of the health and safety of all the
10:12
people we would have to have them in effect would they not just have like a a clerk that just goes with us that has
10:18
the list great if he has the list we can look over the list yeah that's good before we even get
10:24
inside we are talking about a forgery that would
10:29
have to be much much more convincing than simple a simple sentry checkpoint this
10:35
is a prison in the capital city perhaps we should do some research on how to create such a forgery yeah faraday do
10:42
you have any experience with people coming in to do health and wellness checks like what
10:48
kind of writ of passage yeah what kind of paperwork would they maybe need but i know that they need like any
10:54
particular kind of like certificate or paperwork or anything like sign sealed um there's a lot of different ways that
11:01
you would be able to do it but a lot of the ways would need like an official seal or an official signature
11:06
the thing is and thank you schreyer because that is absolutely correct in a place of
11:13
absolute law and order as caldor is
11:18
i have my own credentials but for you to get in you would need some sort of rit proof or
11:24
or records with well we happen to have a seal of our own
11:31
from the caldorian army there's a story there but go on um
11:37
yeah it involves a ship and some you know it's a long story i don't like to talk about it um
11:44
but yeah we have um our own seal that we can put on any document we want
11:52
whenever we want to and with your help we might be able to make it more convincing yeah yes
11:58
um do you like our plan does it seem promising okay
12:03
let's work first yeah zeda comes along let's say she understands
12:09
what we're doing when we uh go to her and zeta is your temple friend that's
12:15
right yeah um she does not know us but uh i think she'll get the drift
12:21
um and i mean theoretically we don't have to get her out
12:27
but i just feel like we should don't you
12:32
i do we smile at it
12:38
um she and i healed timmy together or no what they have he has to get to
12:44
what happened yeah so maybe she gets once we get her to timmy she realizes that the answer or the the way to fix
12:51
timmy is to take him to her temple that's the only place that he can he can be and they can go with an armed guard
12:56
it's fine like it's okay if armed guards go with them right but then the armed cards i'll take them
13:02
back well we'll figure it out later well maybe we
13:07
get xavier to take us to the temple and then we leave but at least then we only have a couple of guards at a temple and not
13:14
a prison it'll take a long time to do this ritual to fix timmy and she needs a
13:20
room to herself and while she's fixing timmy we go back in and get savior how do you plan on communicating that to
13:27
zeta well don't you have that spell you can talk to people's minds he didn't make it ready i didn't
13:36
we could do it tomorrow we could also we could also do this tomorrow that's true but i mean make plans overnight it could
13:42
also just be something we tell her in passing you know especially for walking through the city it can be something we bring up to her
13:49
or if i have another idea just another one
13:54
um instead of saying she has to get to a temple
14:03
no getting them out is the best idea like getting them out with a couple of guards and then maybe it's a ritual and then it's like
14:10
maybe maybe it's a 24-hour ritual and she's got to be there for 24 hours we can we can uh incapacitate the guards
14:17
once they're outside of the prison yeah in a non-dangerous way or they just stay outside
14:24
they stay outside of the temple where the rituals going on we go get uh xavier and
14:30
xavier helps get all three of us out all three of them out you know we just leave them there for the 24 hour
14:38
period of the ritual and take that time to get xavier out and then figure out how to get them away
14:43
from a few armpits they won't actually need the whole 24 hours that just gives us time to get exactly exactly and then
14:48
once we get xavier we can figure out how to get them away from the guards but i think getting him out of the prison with no alert is
14:54
the most important thing that's probably yeah and then
15:01
and you've met timmy before so i really wish you had that spell today because if you had that spell today we
15:07
could start prepping it tonight and then you could go to sleep and have more tomorrow because you won't get tired but no you didn't have the problem
15:14
okay so here's listen it's not an exact science when i'm communicating with zacchaeus of which of his powers i'm going to use it well she was in your
15:20
body for like a few moments so she's probably in mexico i understand it 100 most of the time i
15:26
just open my mouth and words come out that i don't even really understand the complete meaning of okay that's happened
15:32
to me before well regardless not listening in the morning we can wake up in the morning we can
15:38
wake up and you can send timmy a note a little voice message before we even get there so he can start acting
15:44
sick before we even get there and then maybe when we get there they're like oh actually yeah there is somebody who's
15:49
sick maybe you can help i love this plan sorry and then we're like yeah of course we can help
15:55
them but we have to do inspection of all the prisoners and then we help him and then we're like oh no no no i can't help
16:00
him we need somebody stronger or we need somebody associated with this temple um
16:05
and then you find out that zeta's there and then they treat or try to trigger charter and then we're like okay now back to our duties and we continue to
16:12
inspect and continue to inspect it and then we find xavier and then we somehow get out
16:20
i like it i think if xavier is as powerful as i
16:25
i have heard he is he may be so tired guys i don't know
16:31
i'll just have to [Music] improvise so assuming we can get xavier
16:37
free he may be able to assist us with his own escape that's right if we can get the like
16:44
[Music] cuffs after but timmy may or may not be in a position where
16:50
he can assist and would need maximum assist in his yes tim is a very frightened boy yeah
16:56
he's just a kid and you're your other friend theta yes
17:03
well i would we call her we have never really we've never met zeta
17:08
we were told about zeta way back when when when we needed some
17:14
help and somebody pointed her in our direction um but then when we got here
17:19
to find her we found out she was in prison and it's not necessarily our fault that
17:25
she's in prison and it's not even really our fault that we even know her name but now that we do know her name
17:32
i don't know if we can just leave her in there and and her temple said that she was a good person and that she they didn't know why she was there and that
17:38
they couldn't imagine anything that she would have done that could have ended up with her there the way that they respond to the
17:43
slightest uh slate here it seems that it could be any reason
17:49
or she could be a really bad person that we're releasing into the world well i think we'll be able to decide
17:55
when we get there what if she's got like a giant tattoo of a red wolf [Music]
18:01
then we may have to reconsider yeah yeah then maybe kelly figures out a way to
18:06
fix timmy at his temple uh also a possibility um
18:11
[Music] but i'd like to just ascertain a few things
18:17
well i can and i'm gonna get as close as i can to the walls dm
18:23
of this thing without being conspicuous uh and
18:29
um i will um uh pull
18:35
uh a tether um across my face so that it forms i don't
18:42
think anybody would actually see it but in my mind's eye i would uh there's just like strands of tethers
18:48
that i'm pulling around almost in a cocoon fashion and i turn with it until it's like spiraling down me and i will
18:55
say and cast locate creature
19:00
hey uh if they're within a thousand feet of me
19:05
and i will do it on um
19:10
oh wait no i haven't seen zayd so i have to do it on timmy you're looking for timmy i'm looking for tim
19:16
okay um as you cast this spell um
19:22
let me see [Music] young timmy flirt okay
19:27
so you cast loki creature um the specifics of that spell you get a
19:32
you get an exact point of where he is correct uh the direction to the creature's location as long as the creature's been
19:38
without one thousand feet of view if the creature is moving you know the direction of its movement
19:44
okay um you would uh let's see timmy would ping he would definitely show up on on um your your
19:52
scopes here i'm tracing the these the strand i've pulled to me is like spiraling out into the other tethers
19:57
throughout the sort of veil okay i'm looking for him on the strings
20:03
as you are sort of up on this wall um
20:08
now i have to ask for specifics here are you doing this on there's a large portion of the wall that is
20:15
completely flat where the front gate is where the entrance is and then there's also that long flat wall
20:22
that didn't have anything on it or you guys had approached um are you doing this on on that wall with the entrance
20:28
on it or the one that doesn't have anything what's easier to hide when doing this right what would be that what would be
20:34
the one that would appear to be like deepest toward where the minds go i guess that would be what i would
20:40
probably lean toward for sure um from what you can tell at these the
20:45
angles that the wall is at it is making a giant pentagon okay um and so you
20:52
would have to be in the middle of one of these walls to be sort of at closest to the center okay um that would be at the
20:59
wall that you guys approached if you were at the center of the wall with the gate you would be at the gate um so probably at the end
21:06
so with that um you uh let me see
21:12
he is um almost directly ahead of you
21:18
but down [Music] down quite a ways
21:24
um almost to the extent of your rankings wow a thousand feet so if
21:31
you're looking for him [Music] yeah he is almost
21:36
it's it's more down in front of you even yeah okay hit me
21:42
what
21:50
i uh i uh have this cocoon and i struggle against it a little bit as i'm unraveling it and i
21:57
will return to the party well i can confirm timmy is in fact in
22:02
this present uh he's a thousand feet down approximately
22:09
what he's very far down there he just didn't have papers why is he so far down
22:16
that is quite an offense if you don't have your papers in oak inspire apparently everything's in a fence here and it's getting kind of annoying
22:23
welcome to oakenspy you want to stay here i was getting ready to head out myself
22:28
okay um [Music]
22:34
is there an elevator this is the kind of time where to get to
22:39
the prison at all you have to drop down [Music] because maybe he is at the front and it's just
22:45
you get to the wall and then you drop that would be
22:51
[Music] an added part of the security features in this prison that we need to consider
22:57
and i think that now that you have an idea of
23:03
what we're facing and how we need to navigate this i think we need to perhaps
23:08
get some more have a longer discussion about
23:14
possibly this plan and
23:19
if i'm not mistaken the if we are lucky one of the libraries
23:25
might have an archive that may potentially have a blueprint of the prison so i could better explain
23:31
sort of what may we may be facing a layer of the land would be then go
23:36
check out that bookstore yeah do you think a library would actually have wha what library would we have to go to
23:43
to have information about the prison system seems like pretty
23:48
secret stuff yes and it's more about the uh architectural blueprints but yes in oak inspire
23:55
they're not exactly expecting anyone to be foolish enough to use that information
24:00
but it is sort of a death wish if you are going to try to break into a prison so it's more just like knowledge for
24:07
future it's like an archive that's just like hey if you want to build a great prison here's an example not like they
24:14
would never think that you would actually okay okay that also they have the information for when they need to do
24:19
maintenance and repairs and also just sort of the history and the the building
24:24
of uh oak inspire and potential for other youths that
24:30
even i may not be aware of um as far as how
24:35
if it is an effective structure it may i i'm not certain the layout in solaris
24:42
has not really worked in the prison there and good for information for what may be an
24:49
effective use should they choose to expand but having those records there
24:57
maybe again it is possible i cannot guarantee that it would be there but
25:04
can you take us to a library that might have yes would it be available to us or would
25:11
it only be in the central part of the city or is it available to the public or
25:17
these are all things we don't know or it may only be available to someone who has had military experience right
25:24
it's time to earn your gold then why don't you lead us to this blueprint
25:30
where is the closest library yeah so the closest library um
25:36
is uh actually not too far from here within the city you know one just a couple of blocks
25:43
away that's got a pretty it's it's pretty big it's pretty extensive so at least at this point that's probably
25:48
your best bet so um you guys take off and head over towards uh
25:54
that library um and can i hold out my hand for my 25 gold
25:59
of course of course you can i high-five her and i say um you haven't really given us
26:06
any insight yet hey blueprints first yeah i think blueprints would consul would would equate insight right now
26:14
the 25 was the consultation on your plan darling you didn't give us any consultation with the plan ourselves yeah you haven't
26:21
given us anything yet i don't think you've given us any information we couldn't have gathered on our own and that we didn't gather on our own
26:27
true i pull out five gold and hand or five gold and then i pull out five gold as well
26:32
and say you did tell us about the ways that the guards fluctuate that's
26:37
worth five from me okay you get the rest when you get the blueprints
26:43
deal does lunch come with it
26:48
i mean how much time do you have yes but like you're like i'm so busy i've got so many things to do yes let's go come with
26:55
it can we get the blueprints only if we get the blueprints
27:00
deal [Music] good all right um so you guys head off to
27:05
this um this this archive here um you guys approach and
27:11
above this intricate doorway is a sign that says the flight of the mind um and
27:18
uh in in these beautiful like um blue letters that it's painted into the
27:23
doorway um and as you guys walk in you see it's it's a huge building just lined
27:29
with books and shelves and it's got these um these rows of bookshelves all in the
27:35
middle and these tiny little um tiny little corridors that you can just barely squeeze in between these these
27:41
bookshelves that are just stacked on top of each other um you also see a spiral staircase in the center that goes up to
27:48
a second floor and you see the spiral staircase continues onto a third floor you can't really see past that with the
27:53
angle that you guys are at but it definitely goes up higher um and as you guys
27:59
walk into this this bookstore um you are greeted by a um an old dwarven lady who's got this this
28:07
stark platinum hair and she's actually got a couple of books um in her arms and
28:13
she has these these beautiful blue robes that flow down to the ground and almost trail behind her on the ground as she's
28:19
walking and she uh she walks up to you all and before we before we
28:24
kind of like get too close to her i'd like to um kind of like whisper to everyone and say maybe you'd be less
28:31
suspicious if we're all looking for something different okay yeah got it how would i be of service to you all
28:38
hi um i'm looking for some books on um
28:44
alchemical mixtures and and um ingredient lists alchemical mixtures um
28:50
that is going to be on the third floor um sort of in the far corner um you're going to see a uh a specific section
28:57
labeled with such and uh it's going to be your playground up there if that's what you were looking for see you later
29:05
do you have anything on rare diseases oh uh rare diseases um that is going to
29:10
be fifth floor um if you go and you're on the top of the staircase um you're going to take a right and then there's
29:17
going to be a couple of bookshelves and you're going to see a label with infectious diseases
29:23
and it's going to be the next five or possibly six bookshelves off after that perfect thank you um do you
29:30
have any books on magic or um spells um maybe in
29:37
uh um yeah just the just that uh seventh floor okay thank you yes and
29:43
i'll i'll head off to the temple would i already have an idea having
29:48
lived in oakland spire sort of where i might want to look myself um yes you would know that um these
29:58
archives of this sort um are gonna be in a designated section
30:03
that is usually behind a locked door not like security but um just more out of the way than the
30:11
rest of the books are you would know that going in [Music]
30:16
um hello yes ma'am and i'm sorry what is your name my name is aurelia um
30:22
so i was hoping if i may and i reach into
30:27
my pocket i bring out my military credentials i'm doing some um
30:33
i'm working on a contract to do and help with some inspection and architecture work i do
30:40
need some access to um some special research um
30:45
yeah um if i may i i will need access to the architectural archives for um oak
30:52
inspire please oh um yes uh right this way uh before i go do that um
30:57
mr bird is there any uh section that i can point you to in particular
31:03
now that you ask um i would perhaps like to know uh if there's a section
31:09
dedicated to the metaphysical perhaps the different planes of existence i recently had a
31:14
run-in with one of them and i assuming that uh you lot can figure out
31:22
the bulk of if you don't mind if i could do a little foray on my own um yes so that is uh second floor um
31:29
pretty much the entire right right-hand side of the floor um
31:35
might i join my dragonborn friend here in our person with the archive um
31:41
are you able to speak for him he has no credentials i just want to make sure that
31:47
he's not i can vouch for this man yes okay then you are more than welcome to yes thank you kindly and then i'll
31:52
definitely check up on infectious diseases okay fantastic um all right this way and she uh sort of takes you
31:59
along and um she walks you over to uh one of the the side walls and there's
32:05
a little break in the bookshelves and there's a door there um and she reaches down into her back pocket and takes out
32:11
a ring of about 15 different keys and she fumbles with some of them and she puts one in and tries it and it doesn't
32:18
unlock and she pulls it back out and she flips through some more and puts another one in the second one actually clicks and unlocks and it opens up and um as it
32:26
opens up you look into the room and it's um it's it's definitely smaller it's a much
32:32
smaller room um than this expansive library that you've been seeing around you um
32:37
the ceiling is quite a bit lower and there are fewer bookshelves but she lets you in and once you both are in she
32:44
closes the door you don't hear it lock behind you but she just closes the door um and lets the two of you
32:51
go about your business [Music] all right how big of a room is it
32:57
um it it's still a pretty big room it's just not as expensive as the giant library i'd say it's it's about uh 30
33:04
feet by 50 feet okay uh you want to take that half i'll take this one and we'll just try to find this
33:11
blueprint sounds like a plan all right if we can find something with the most recent blueprints i don't know if
33:17
there's going to be multiple other versions if we found something older then we might be able to explore some
33:22
kind of structural weakness as well that new ones might not account for so anything relevant
33:29
all right i'm gonna have both of you guys make an investigation check for me investigation don't let me
33:36
uh it's a 19 for kellogg 18. okay clean um nice so as you guys are
33:43
looking around the room um caleb you uh scan the perimeter and as you're going
33:48
through these books there um from what you saw on the outside it's all like books hardcover books and from what you
33:55
see in here you get a couple of books and then there's like a couple of scrolls then there's a couple of loose-leaf papers and a couple more
34:01
books um all still very well organized but just the formatting of this information is a
34:06
lot different and you scan around the room and and you go around the edge and you can't find
34:12
anything faraday you do the same thing you start on the other side and you can't find anything and you guys
34:18
at the exact same time meet right in the middle as you guys both spot architectural
34:24
blueprints for the prison oh that sorry
34:29
uh you can thank i start you through okay you start
34:35
rifling through um and kellick as you see her her flipping through uh outstanding newbies and i light up my
34:41
arm and i hold it above so perfect yeah uh you guys can really see it so these
34:46
are what you found is the most basic of blueprints here pretty much just
34:52
the structural plans for like a um a building crew to go in and and see where
34:58
the walls are and everything there is several different levels so on the first page that she flips through um you see
35:04
the ground level um you see this giant pentagon and you can see sort of some of
35:10
those towers that you were looking at from the outside these guard towers um
35:15
you guys see that a lot of it like a lot of the structure is like
35:20
open area so there's the outer wall and then there's the inner buildings um and
35:26
then the rest of there's like a there's like a quite a big gap from the outer wall to the actual buildings um you see
35:34
in the front you saw where the front gate was when you were actually looking at it um but now you can sort of see
35:39
that it's a two-tiered system where they're actually you can count it as a three-tier system where there's the
35:45
initial gate that you go through um a checkpoint in there with with guard posts and then another checkpoint to get
35:53
in um you see a one main giant building you see a couple
35:59
of rooms in there as well you're not able to determine what the rooms are you're just sort of able to see the layout of them um as well as a couple of rows of cell
36:07
blocks and then one sort of building in the middle um and then you can also see flipping to
36:12
the next page you can see that there are sub levels so this is a prison that you had probably previously determined goes
36:18
deep underground it's not tall um there's just the one main level and then it all goes
36:24
underground so there is the first uh sub-level where there's a staircase that goes
36:30
down into it sort of in that center building um and
36:35
in there you see four sets of elevators um you see
36:41
each as we see these i look at it and i tap on my forehead with this yeah
36:47
um you see four different rooms um one on each side of the room and
36:52
accompanying a couple of elevators that go down um looking at the next page you see that there are
37:00
several different types of sub-levels here that the elevators actually go to um some of these sub-levels have more
37:08
cells that are smaller um some of them are a little bit bigger and then um there are some that are are even larger
37:14
than that but they're mostly um formed in like these two-tiered circular systems so each floor
37:21
has like a circle of cells on the right and a circle of cells on the left
37:26
that is what you see um
37:32
[Music] any do we see any structural deficiencies and or
37:39
like alternate pathways in any way um you see that uh in these plans you
37:46
can look on the on the first page on the ground floor all systems leading in and out of the
37:52
prison have been completely cut off um this could on lockdown you see that this
37:58
could effectively serve as its own miniature city and and survive on its own completely cut off
38:04
from the rest of the world yeah and seeing him realize this i'm just gonna wink
38:10
[Music]
38:15
man and really errant seller would you use your bigger cells or your
38:21
smaller ones would you want more space
38:26
for the mage or less also dm um yeah do i know the depth of
38:35
each of these is there any kind of um like indication of depth in the on the blueprints of how deep they go yeah so
38:41
um you see there's the first ground level and then there's the first sub level and then you can see that um it
38:48
goes each of them each of these like pairs of elevators goes down to what's marked here as 74
38:55
levels down um so there are you can't tell exactly how deep in feet
39:01
or meters that is but you can see that there are at least um 74
39:07
floors of prisoners here so potentially timmy could be on the first
39:13
suburb he'll be the first um prisoner still despite
39:19
the appearances depending on the severity of the crime yes so they
39:24
depending on the reason why a uh someone is to be incarcerated
39:32
that is part of what determines what sub-block they would be housed it makes
39:40
sense that the worst criminals would be the lowest down
39:45
it's harder to get up than anywhere than in any other direction more forces opposed than normal
39:52
and you could lock down elevators in in theory if you just disable the magics or whatever kind of trinkets are
39:58
uh keeping them operating um well none of this
40:04
directly contradicts our plan and it helps to solidify what we're doing
40:11
doesn't give us any other ways out once we find xavier [Music]
40:19
how well do you know the savior person i don't know him
40:24
how old do you know heyford [Music] for years and years one of my closest friends he said two years
40:32
that's years yes not and years so
40:38
speaking to what knowledge we have of people i've known alma for
40:43
really maybe a month maybe a month and change but uh
40:50
i trust her and the savior person seems to have her best interests at heart
40:55
so i'm willing to lay it on the line for this you know
41:01
we we're trying to save the world
41:06
but you have to start with the people in front of you i learned that recently
41:12
so i'm starting here hope that answers your question
41:18
[Music] i'm just
41:24
your friend has no allegiance to the caldorian army is that correct i'm trying to
41:31
i'm concerned if your friend is such a threat
41:39
the caldorian army may see them as an asset and
41:46
i just want to know that it's not going to be an issue
41:51
that they may have allegiance towards kaldor
41:57
oh savior no connection you think xavier
42:03
why would he why if he was allegiant to kaldor why would they keep him imprisoned
42:08
again as i said once you've been in the military for a while the
42:15
they have ways of bringing you over to
42:20
what they believe in how they believe [Music] i uh
42:26
don't know xavier but uh if he was able to keep on account
42:33
i expect he's got an iron will and i just start laughing and i clap him
42:38
right on the back i literally just like nearly hit the table with my forehead
42:45
she is a powerful one though quite entertaining i yeah spend a couple days with her
42:52
um no i i think xavier's not going to be
42:58
swayed into any sort of favor with kaldor unless it connects to whatever sort of research he
43:03
was up to so yeah so definitely someone who's going to be
43:09
quite well guarded and so i have an idea [Music] say xavier's on the bottom floor
43:16
[Music] can i tell from the blueprint dm yeah how these elevators are powered is there
43:21
any kind of indication uh there is uh there is an indication that they are
43:27
mechanical okay um non-magical in nature um you see another another blueprint for
43:33
their inner workings okay and is there like a fail-safe in that in that additional blueprint of like say a
43:40
prison break where it happened that they would lock down the elevators um uh
43:46
you do not see that on there okay my fear right is that we make it to
43:52
xavier we free him and we trigger some kind of alarm there's only so much magic we can prepare for and even mechanical
43:58
means i mean this this is a little behind beyond my uh calvary engine honestly i'm looking at the intricacies of it
44:06
um what if we get to xavier we free him and they lock the elevators and xavier can't
44:12
produce his own way out is that a worthy concern
44:19
absolutely right which is why i wanted to know what your
44:24
your plan was your group's plan was um
44:30
improvisation uh but uh in lieu of that i would say
44:37
maybe there's something here we can learn of of how we might start an
44:43
elevator back up or if we can climb whatever kind of
44:49
elements are used in constructing it perhaps maps and
44:56
do we see any other papers or forms that may be of use
45:03
not immediately but uh kellogg looking at some of these uh some of these blueprints you do see
45:11
that um in order to get to um to the actual prison area the only
45:17
way down to the cells are through the elevator okay once you are on the floors with the cells
45:24
along with the elevators that are there there are also two sets of stairs um on each section of the
45:32
um each floor do i see where those stairs connect do they lead back up they lead
45:38
to and from each floor there's an initial elevator and then stairs yeah so the elevator can take you
45:44
wherever you want to go but in order to get down there if you want to use the stairs you would need to use the elevator first to get down to the cells
45:51
and then you'd be able to use the stairs so you wouldn't be able if you were at the top level of the cells
45:57
you wouldn't be able to continue climbing the stairs they stopped you would have to use the elevator to get that little floor okay but the elevator
46:04
could go all the way down to the bottom yes gotcha [Music] right so we just need
46:12
however many feet this this first so the first sub-level is the one the first sub-level is this the 74
46:18
floors or how low how low down is the first sub-level from everything now or no
46:24
what's the distance jesus christ what's the distance between sub level one and and sub level two like
46:31
if we were to climb this elevator shaft for example how high it is it's
46:36
immediate there's like there's the roof of one is the floor of the other one okay so there's no like massive
46:44
level it's one level in between yes well that's not out of our power we have a
46:49
man with wings you can carry at least one of us
46:55
[Music] well at least one that's hopeful um i don't know what if we told you about
47:02
us but hopeful uh arrangements you know good odds it's not our thing
47:10
and then i'm very glad we came and got more information as am i this is a a great help
47:18
all right anything else you want to look out for here
47:23
and i hold up my hand for the rest of the gold uh i'm skinned yourself uh you're gonna
47:29
have to look different and try after that
47:35
then shall we go and try to find your party then
47:40
um yeah dm um how
47:46
collapsible are these blueprints yes they look to be on kind of old paper
47:53
um you would have to be a little delicate with them um if you wanted to say roll them up and
47:58
throw them in your pack um but there's no one else in here
48:09
yeah you get the sense that uh with faraday showing off her military credentials she sort of got
48:15
free reign of the place um so you are wrapping that up uh let's move to shraya
48:22
shraya you are uh you're exploring through your books what have you done i would like to find the
48:29
books on the the history of the or pre-history of the world uh and i want to take a look inside and
48:36
i want to see if there is a section or maybe an entire book uh devoted to the
48:42
plane of air okay um make an investigation check for me
48:49
[Music] that's a seven um you find
48:54
a couple of story books that take place in the plan of air um you don't find anything more along the
49:01
factual lines though i'd like to open a storybook yes you do yeah
49:07
okay um tell us the story boy um
49:13
you open up this book and it's a good story
49:21
a great story no you uh you open up this book and it seems to be like the one that you just
49:28
happened to grab seems to be a novel and as you flip through the first couple of
49:34
pages um you are introduced to a a main character by the name of uh ry ry
49:41
and um and you sort of get introduced to like in the first couple of pages like his
49:47
home life and and how he uh he lives with his parents but his parents have
49:52
always like thought he needs to do more with himself and uh how far into this book are you going uh
49:59
i'm going to actually just skim through the pages for any uh is it illustrated or just text there are some
50:05
illustrations it's not it's not filled with illustrations but every couple pages or so there's a little illustration i'm going to skim through
50:12
the pages and look at the illustrations and see if i can see any sorts of landforms or
50:19
ways that the architecture of the plane itself manifests in the
50:25
illustrations of the pages okay um as you're looking through uh you
50:31
see that the the first illustration um is just like of rye with like a backpack on
50:38
and like he's kind of walking across a hill um and then you keep flipping through and you see another photo um of
50:45
him like laying out underneath the stars and then uh you keep flipping through and then all of a sudden you see a
50:51
picture of him like floating and he's sort of you can see like there's this this wind that's sort of
50:57
wrapping him up and and um making his his like jacket poof up and everything
51:03
and then you keep flipping through and eventually you do see a picture of rye
51:08
um walking on what seems to be a cloud standing right next to another
51:14
form of a creature made of air and wind and clouds i want to keep looking through the book
51:20
to see if i can find anyone that looks like me all right um you keep flipping through and uh
51:27
about three quarters of the way through the book um you see that there is an illustration of three
51:35
humanoids with feathers with wings with beaks very similar to yours um and
51:43
you can see that they are gliding along the paths of of the the currents of air
51:48
in in this uh realm and you can see rye standing there once again with his backpack and this form of air is sort of
51:55
pointing out towards the uh those humanoid creatures i'd like to see if i can cross-reference this part of the
52:01
story and look and see if if what they're saying about people who look like me are
52:07
good or bad yeah or if they're
52:12
okay um that breaks my heart
52:18
okay um you uh you look through and you read the page that's next to that
52:23
illustration um and you see a a box of text and you see that it is the the
52:30
creature of air that is speaking and you see that he says to rye um
52:37
do you see rye the people of this place they are peaceful and they enjoy their
52:42
life do you see rai how they enjoy their life do you see rye
52:48
the way that they enjoy their life do you see how happy they are in the place that they are
52:54
and that is the end of of that section and uh i have my the books a little bit
53:00
shaking and i look down uh uh and i close the book
53:05
and i put it back on the shelf and uh i breathe heavily
53:10
as i hold the crystal to my forehead and i try to cast myself
53:17
into or cast my mind into the place that i was in when i was uh communing in the
53:24
temple not uh much long ago and i and i say to myself
53:31
if i could only if i could only know that peace if i could only know that joy
53:38
if i could only bring that to this place to the people around me
53:45
i must and then i head back down the stairs to try to find my party okay
53:51
um as you do flynn so
53:57
uh i'll head to that area of all the magic uh
54:03
no books what do i see i'll just like walk up and down the aisles i'm not really sure what i'm looking for i just know that i want to learn more about
54:10
magic are there spell books here is are there scrolls is it is it just history of magic what am i looking at um make a
54:16
perception check for me sure [Music]
54:28
ten sorry a ten um yeah you see um you go through the uh the fiction
54:36
section and you see a bunch of story books about magic and the great magic users of of
54:43
this world and um then you go through and you see a couple of biographies on some great magicians and um some what
54:51
looks almost like um lecture notes of of these great magic users and and
54:58
possibly some of the students who uh studied under them and their notes um
55:04
and uh you don't see any like practical
55:11
like how to like at the very end of the row though um you
55:16
do see like a very introductory level
55:21
um it is sort of like a how-to it's it's like the basics of magic this is and you see
55:27
and it's stuff that you learned you learned a while ago um so nothing
55:32
necessarily of of interest to you on those could i go back to the biographies
55:38
of uh famous wizards and such yeah of course and i want to search for
55:44
some people okay who are you searching for in particular hayfreed
55:50
okay savior and melloroo
55:56
[Music] okay make an investigation check for me sure
56:03
hi come on come on you know what i'm gonna use one of the no yeah yeah where's that
56:09
um all right and what is it again investigation investigation
56:14
okay uh another 10. okay
56:21
you do not no you don't find anything about those
56:26
people names in particular no okay on my way back uh
56:32
uh or are you are you gonna continue to search um it was just the biography right and i'm
56:37
going through do i notice any anything of note of any magic users good
56:43
or bad people in the past that have now changed do i see if that's a possibility um or am i just reading a bunch of
56:49
nonsense um you actually looking through
56:55
um you're just about to leave and um a particular book sort of catches your eye
57:02
and you take it off of the shelf um and it is titled the tragedy of the loss
57:10
and um flipping through the first thing that you see on the very first page is a map
57:17
of elbor and it's sort of zoomed in it's like the middle of the continent and you can see
57:22
it is a map of the giant desert within the middle of the
57:28
continent called the waste and it's sort of outlining outlying
57:33
cities and towns um and uh that's the like the first page is
57:39
just a map of the waste um and sort of an uh illustrated version of it
57:45
um and uh yeah i'm gonna say in order to learn
57:51
anymore you would need to sit down with this book um i'll sit down and like take take some time it seems
57:57
like that kind of thing um i'll look to my left and i look to my right do i see anyone no one's there i'm gonna
58:04
try and put on my backpack okay make a slight of hand check for okay
58:14
fifteen fifteen you now have the book chunk um yeah in your pack you now have the
58:19
tragedy of the loss tragedy of the loss the tragedy of the loss got it
58:25
and then i'll i'll head back down to where i left the party originally to reconvene okay oma
58:32
yeah what are you up to i'm in the alchemical like potioning section of the library
58:39
and up the stairs and turn right no left no right
58:45
that way and i go and she said i was gonna be labeled so i'm looking for the signs
58:50
for like alchemy and magic and and um potions and i have a silver potion with sparkly
58:58
bits that i really really want to cross-reference and find out what the heck it is um i've had it
59:06
forever this is the longest yeah running goal okay so i'm gonna try and
59:12
cross-reference it and find out what kind of potion it is okay make an investigation check for me
59:21
15 a15 okay so um you're looking through
59:27
and you uh search through and you see that there's a section for um like spell
59:32
components um and you know that's probably not going to be it um you look for um
59:38
like uh you see a section for like mixtures and and you go into that
59:44
and you see another section for potions and you go deeper into that um and after
59:50
looking through a little bit you find a a massive book um that is at the end
59:56
of one of these like hallways and it is a massive tome on its own
1:00:02
pedestal and you look at that and it seems to be like a general guide for for potions and
1:00:10
non-cast magic so you begin to flip through and you see in the in the
1:00:15
start there's a a guide on how to search up potions um and you see that there are
1:00:22
color-coded aspects to it so you flip through to flip through the reds flip through the purples flip through the
1:00:28
greens and you finally land on this silvery potion um you
1:00:35
look through come on and you see exactly what you're looking
1:00:41
[Applause] [Laughter]
1:00:48
this potion allows you to change your size quite dramatically
1:00:56
you find that it is a pretty complex potion um as it's not
1:01:03
you see you see another section before it about a potion that's that looks a little similar it's not quite the exact
1:01:08
same thing that either turns you small turns you big but that potion is set then you look down to
1:01:16
the one that you have once you drink this potion you can control the size that you want to be
1:01:21
within certain parameters um so you can change
1:01:27
anywhere between three inches tall two
1:01:33
[Music] 16 feet tall what and once you drink the potion you have
1:01:41
complete control over that size range uh for the next hour you can change it up
1:01:46
back and forth whatever size you want for an hour it can be whatever size you want for an hour between three inches and 16 feet of
1:01:53
all the relevant skills oh my god i felt glad i did this that's amazing oh
1:02:00
my gosh okay um i am my mind is blown it does just
1:02:06
so you know it does take an action to change the size
1:02:12
there is it's not an instant change you are growing and shrinking so it does take an action to change the size once
1:02:17
you are a certain size great [Music] okay great
1:02:24
we'll talk about later great um i
1:02:30
love that um um i don't know when people are ready like
1:02:36
need like i i'm just gonna be here for a while um but i would like to look up um because this is a guide so does it
1:02:43
also have like ingredient lists and like how-to's and like for each potion um it's uh it gives you like a brief
1:02:49
overview it doesn't it's not like uh a recipe book okay it doesn't give you the exact it tells you sort of what they do
1:02:55
um uh some of the ingredients that they're made out of but it's not a complete list okay um so that's that's what it is um
1:03:04
then in that case i would like to find um
1:03:10
yeah i'd like to find a book with with with um like recipes i would like to find a book on
1:03:17
on and i'm sure there are different types of books on different type of recipes so um
1:03:23
first would be i'd like i'd like to focus on trying to find um ingredients that are
1:03:30
um like assist with um destruction and disguise and and
1:03:36
things like that but if not just any ingredient book okay make an investigation check for me
1:03:44
15 15. okay um you look through and you
1:03:50
you at this point knowing sort of where some of the books are at um you know where the section is for crafting
1:03:57
specifically crafting these potions and you look through and you look around no one's coming up for you so you've still
1:04:04
got time up here so you go through book by book and you do find a book that deals with disguises
1:04:10
and changing one's form do i find one on distractions
1:04:17
um yeah you do as well how big are they uh they are
1:04:22
a pretty decent size they're a couple pounds each okay um
1:04:28
it would be a little bit awkward but you'd be able to carry both of them [Music]
1:04:35
i want them is there a place to check books out or
1:04:45
i'm gonna try and check them out um what's the counter punishment for late fees
1:04:52
are we gonna have a um no i'm gonna check my books out okay
1:04:57
like a good citizen okay um yeah i'm gonna go go to the checkout with my my books okay on disguise and
1:05:04
distraction okay um did you find what you need for today
1:05:09
yeah yeah you know i'm so used to being small that i love
1:05:14
to play with like makeup and make myself look different and so i found this cool book that lets you um make your face
1:05:20
look different and that sounds like so much fun so i thought maybe i'd check it out yes you're more than welcome to um so i
1:05:28
that is going to be just a deposit for the books in case you don't bring them back um and then once you return them i
1:05:35
will give you your full deposit back what's the deposit um for those two books that's going to be two gold okay
1:05:40
here you go okay thank you very much um is there anything else i can help you
1:05:46
with this is amazing i love it here it's pretty nice i do like it here
1:05:51
um are you with the rest of your i know everyone sort of went there different ways are
1:05:57
you with the other people i know them yeah but i'm just gonna sit here and look at the books for a little bit and
1:06:02
and and just look at my books for a little bit or your books that i'm borrowing um until they come down okay
1:06:08
that sounds good to me and she goes back to her work um and i will
1:06:15
send you what those books contain nice um i'm not gonna read them off all
1:06:20
one by one right now so i will send you what those books contain could i during this time have have after
1:06:26
stealing the blueprint made my way to infectious diseases sure sweet yeah okay
1:06:31
um what are you looking for specifically i'm relatively acquainted with medicine so i think i would just i'm looking for
1:06:38
i want to find a disease that is the most lethal with the most ambiguous
1:06:44
symptoms yes exactly what i wanted to do amazing i'm so glad yes
1:06:51
okay make an investigation check okay
1:06:57
okay investigation uh that is an 18 and 18.
1:07:04
okay um you're looking through and you see as you're going through you actually see a
1:07:09
couple of textbooks that you've fully written and studied um or not you haven't written them but you've studied
1:07:15
and written in them um and and all this and then um eventually you get to a a
1:07:22
book on the most deadly diseases nice um and
1:07:29
what you find is a disease called dream rot dream rod dream rot yes um oh that
1:07:35
sounds lovely so um you find that um
1:07:41
in the days leading up to death um that the
1:07:46
person will completely lose their ability to dream at night and then during the day when
1:07:52
they're fully awake and conscious will just instantly be submerged into dreams
1:07:57
um and with that you aren't able to even tell if this
1:08:03
person is in a dream or not in a dream um it's it's pretty much like you you
1:08:09
look at them and they look like they're acting normally but to them they are submerged into a dream and can only
1:08:16
realize it once they actually come out of that dream um and the people talking to them interacting with them
1:08:21
are none the wiser um so there is that okay how does dream rot
1:08:28
kill you um it uh it completely eats away at your brain
1:08:34
[Music] cool the uh just disturbing your sleep
1:08:40
disturbing your sleep it over the course of those um the the longest someone has
1:08:46
survived with dream rot um is a total of three days three days it is a uh disease
1:08:52
that comes from the uh elemental plane of fire okay
1:08:57
and it makes its way into this plane through whatever means and infects someone um and
1:09:04
on almost nearly every case of dream rot um when the body is eventually found
1:09:11
on autopsy brain is completely gone it is completely just
1:09:17
disintegrated or rotted away okay is there any indication of how one might get dream rot besides
1:09:24
just like planner shifts or portals planar shifts um
1:09:29
people who have been to the plane of fire coming back who are carriers and then possibly passing that on to someone
1:09:35
else so ethan it is in fact it is infectious cool
1:09:40
great great i love this terrifying highly infectious please let us take it
1:09:46
do [Laughter] [Music]
1:09:53
[Laughter] all right guys we should go to the
1:09:59
library let's go uh i guess that's i guess that i'm saying it or unless
1:10:04
there's unless there's an alternate but i imagine that's the most compelling one i find that's the best one you can
1:10:10
find all right and i'm just looking up over his shoulder because i followed him because he's the source of my gold and i just
1:10:16
say be careful if you're traveling amongst
1:10:22
the different planes don't know what you're going to bring back there are diagrams in in
1:10:27
so just to give you more of a visual there are diagrams oh yeah um but that that's what
1:10:33
you find and then after that you guys all eventually make your way down everyone sees oma sitting there with her books in
1:10:39
uh this little lobby area and you guys all make your way back together i would like to interrupt the librarian's work
1:10:44
one more time okay as i approach her and i ask just out of curiosity i don't
1:10:51
know as well how libraries operate are you the kind of person who also just has
1:10:57
general knowledge of the world and the history of this city and others
1:11:02
well um if i did not work in the library um certainly my age would be a testament to that so yes well i don't look a day
1:11:10
older than uh 42 uh that is
1:11:15
quite the compliment thank you yes of course of course and uh so my general question i
1:11:22
have is is really about uh kaldurian history as a whole uh i
1:11:27
find myself traveling to all sorts of places uh sort of serve as a point of contact in
1:11:33
this world for the wideness of the world and uh i'm constantly learning things uh
1:11:40
as i try to imitate a uh cadence that perhaps our our friend who is writing
1:11:46
the bug a little bit of a while back uh was just sound more convincing
1:11:51
uh is there um what is caldor's uh
1:11:57
sort of mission as a people as a civilization why is there a uh drive to uh continue
1:12:04
to expand outward and sort of an additional question to that uh in in
1:12:11
terms of building more wealth uh is it just seen as a matter of course uh just
1:12:17
a logical conclusion to continually set up minds further and further into elbow
1:12:23
um so i i guess i can't speak for everyone here but um
1:12:30
the the mindset of kaldur is um very much that we are a
1:12:37
stubborn people um and uh if we set our minds to a goal that is going to be
1:12:43
completed um and i guess that is extending to the
1:12:48
rest of the world currently um and
1:12:53
i believe personally and from what i've seen only this sort of security can
1:12:58
bring a lasting peace does that extend to uh the way you
1:13:04
acquire and accumulate resources is then fortifying those areas as well
1:13:10
yes um there are uh numerous expenses i would assume military and otherwise in order to
1:13:17
keep that security going so mining is is one of our people's longest
1:13:24
uh history ways of doing that and
1:13:31
how do you maintain this sort of security in the world's farthest reaches away from the battlefront
1:13:37
but as you extend even further into the furthest reaches of the world how
1:13:43
how is there succinct communication how is there a consistency i take it that
1:13:49
there's a consistency the the people of our nation who reach out to the farthest reaches of the world are
1:13:56
by far the bravest and and the most commended here if if
1:14:01
i do say so um they are people who are brave and going out into the wilderness
1:14:07
and and discovering new things and bringing back those resources for us to
1:14:13
to use in this world um they are truly the best of us
1:14:18
i the best the best of the best you might say i i would yes
1:14:25
and i and i and i uh nod my head and and uh you've been very helpful thank
1:14:31
you i appreciate it as i turn back toward my party
1:14:38
i think i got uh at least uh we were successful on our front let everybody too
1:14:43
i mean i didn't really find too much but i'm guessing you guys did we okay
1:14:49
we've got what we need then i i like widened my eyes to indicate that i have
1:14:54
stolen them i'm checking out these two books they're super exciting oh
1:15:00
yeah that's yeah checking them out cool yeah that's right checking out book okay cool
1:15:05
awesome what'd you get um just some fun potion books oh cool
1:15:11
awesome how long is the checkout period or is it indefinite
1:15:16
um i didn't ask but i i think it's just that i get to check it out and then like when i bring it back i get my deposit
1:15:22
back there wasn't really a timeline is the librarian next to us yeah sort of
1:15:29
did she hear that i'll turn to her and just look she didn't seem to notice anything hey
1:15:39
hi hello hi um how does the checkout period work
1:15:44
um you pretty much pay for the books up front and then if you bring them back
1:15:50
within the allotted time period um then you get your full deposit back but if i
1:15:55
like forget do you guys throw me in jail sometimes
1:16:02
no i'm joking
1:16:10
basically i i would ask that you don't um these are all very unique books if i
1:16:16
were to die i remember if you know the book would go just disappear hypothetically yes it would be
1:16:21
fine you would have paid for it okay guys i'll be right back and i run back up to the area where the books are
1:16:26
where the magic books are and i will wait until it's closed it's clear i will pull
1:16:31
the book out of my bag put it in the shelf pull it back out and run back down with the book
1:16:37
do i have to do anything oh that's a good selection um yeah um i'd like to check this out please okay
1:16:43
five gold pieces thank you he's five okay all right here you go i'll give her five okay
1:16:50
welcome back to the group um and and the both of you you both have these books for three weeks until we
1:16:56
have to start chipping away at that uh deposit and you won't get your full uh money back just so you know three weeks
1:17:03
got it but if you come back you can check them out again and you'll get them no they're fine okay and
1:17:09
then we're good cool we'll do definitely we'll bring them back gotta come back every three weeks yep
1:17:15
okay all right um let's go get lunch
1:17:21
so that's him yeah are you hungry faraday
1:17:26
afternoon here so i'm guessing it's like we probably spent a good amount good chunk of time yeah it's it's uh
1:17:32
getting into the late afternoon yeah yeah so like a late lunch early dinner
1:17:38
that sounds good um where's the fancy restaurant fair day on to the broken lantern
1:17:45
okay she is stoked awesome um you guys get to the broken lantern and uh you can see that they're
1:17:51
just starting to set up for their dinner service um and the first thing that you hear um walking up is
1:17:58
this music that is like just way too loud it's like pouring out into the street um and as you look into
1:18:05
one of the windows you can see a live band um off in the corner and they've already started to play um and it's like
1:18:12
it's some pretty like upbeat music like you know foot tapping music and as you
1:18:18
guys walk in the interior ambiance is the exact opposite um you guys walk in
1:18:24
and the walls are this this dark mahogany lining everything you see um
1:18:30
there's like blue and green paint on the walls and and um there's like these these um sconces like
1:18:37
it looks like a fancy fancy restaurant all the seats are like made out of leather and everything but the music is
1:18:44
the exact opposite of that and uh it's like party music going on in here um is there a way to look at what the
1:18:50
prices are going to be like to look like a menu yeah as you walk in there's there's a little menu plaque
1:18:56
just so that we can know what to expect okay um what you can expect is uh the
1:19:01
average meal price here is about 15 gold and there are expensive cuts of meat
1:19:09
there are um luxury wines and alcohols there are these uh you can see that
1:19:15
there's a at the bottom there's a um chef accredited to the the menu and uh
1:19:22
yeah it seems to be a pretty upscale place yeah i hope that if faraday wants
1:19:27
to eat here we can pay for her lunch but i'm not eating here that pit do you know what our sweet cost
1:19:33
last night for that fancy room i would rather spend my money on the bathtub i will very much be eating here i will be
1:19:40
splurging and taking advantage of some of their their rare meats did i read that
1:19:46
correctly okay so do you guys want to have a nice dinner together and we'll meet you after i'll look at triad does
1:19:53
it seem like he wants me to stay i go well i would
1:19:59
i would say what kind of vibe did i get i do think it would be good for cohesiveness especially considering
1:20:06
what our plans are tomorrow uh that we stay together so i may just ask the chef something before
1:20:13
we leave got it okay [Music] so i mean is it weird to sit with her
1:20:19
while she eats and then we'll just eat later we've done weirder things that's true
1:20:24
so we'll just watch you eat maybe we can just have the bread yeah
1:20:30
you want to eat you can see um baskets of bread out on each table you can eat whatever you want to eat i'm
1:20:36
not paying for it so yeah i might grab something we can split or something i think that sounds good are we all
1:20:43
faraday uh 15 gold still so 30 total basically with the meal together so 15
1:20:48
for the meal and then 15 for right come on people what is it we're in the capital of an entire civilization who
1:20:54
knows the next time we're going to be able to um see things shifting she wants 100 more gold though if she comes with
1:21:01
us oh yeah we don't need her maybe
1:21:07
we don't need you oh like [ __ ] no no just like i'll just tap her on the on the arm and be like i'm sorry sorry
1:21:13
about her she's very let's get lunch sometimes she just gets angry and i will turn towards
1:21:19
the concierge the hostess the host whatever a young dwarven man in even uh fancier
1:21:28
suit than the dwarven man you saw earlier today well can you even let us in dress like this
1:21:34
um he looks at you guys up and down and uh with his hands behind his back and
1:21:39
says are you all going to be dining with us this evening yes um we're
1:21:45
actually treating a friend um we haven't seen in a while that is in
1:21:51
the military here or was in the military here and we have we wanted to treat them to a meal in that case um please we all
1:21:57
we have uh seats right over here thank you and i i actually pull out the purse that was handed to me by the uh
1:22:04
calderian general uh in exchange for when i did that little transaction uh and i said that was
1:22:11
awesome that was that was that was not a caldorian oh right right right
1:22:18
i would imagine i'm not saying any of this out loud i'm pulling out i'm pulling out the
1:22:23
purse that was handed to me and i'm gonna say and some small bites and hors d'oeuvres for the rest of them on me and
1:22:30
i kind of just open it up and there's just like gold gleaming in there oh um okay and yes we have the beautiful
1:22:36
corner seat over and right over there um please if there's anything i can do for all of you um just ask
1:22:43
thank you and i'll head to the seats and check out the menu okay um the uh music is a
1:22:50
little distracting in here um but you're able to read over the venue um
1:22:56
[Music] and uh yeah you read over the menu you can see that there are it's it's one of
1:23:01
those places that's like so fancy it only has like three things um so you can see that there is a
1:23:07
vegetarian option there is a fish option and then there is a meat option
1:23:13
well verde i would like one of the meat options and
1:23:19
a glass of wine okay um what kind of wine
1:23:25
what kind of wine is here [Music] they've got a selection um they've
1:23:31
actually got an entirely separate menu for the wines and outfits let's grab it and i'll just hand it to verde pick one
1:23:38
not the most expensive one and i'm going to look through and i'm going to find
1:23:44
more just like the medium kind of end a nice gentle cabernet perfect
1:23:50
uh can i do that um a glass of that um the meat
1:23:56
option and do you have like a shared i guess i'll look just right are we are you
1:24:01
taking care of the shared stuff yes okay as long as and i do have a preference for any of
1:24:07
these rare meets not to come from any region to the north west of blackpool if
1:24:12
possible i okay yeah
1:24:18
cool i mean all of our cattle is locally sourced oh of course it is right
1:24:23
well for a second i thought uh you were up to the caliber of a place that
1:24:28
imported meets but i guess i was wrong anyway um maybe a round of waters as
1:24:33
well it would be great and i'll i'll slide him a gold i'll just slide him a gold after that okay
1:24:39
thank you he takes the gold and looking at shraya very slowly [Laughter]
1:24:49
and after a couple minutes uh the food comes out it is beautiful and probably the most
1:24:55
the best smelling food you guys have have smelled in a long time i am just visibly uncomfortable in this
1:25:02
whole setting like all every element of it is disturbing to me i also don't like it here i feel like myself dirty
1:25:10
and confused and i am like fidgeting in my seat a lot
1:25:15
i'm very self-conscious of my dirty rag arm i'm just like very bewildered and you
1:25:20
can kind of sometimes just see me kind of like bopping my head a little bit but i'll keep going back
1:25:27
all right um but uh you guys have a frankly beautiful meal um and just as
1:25:33
you guys are finishing up you can see more and more people coming in just as the dinner service is actually beginning
1:25:39
you guys sort of hit that weird in between time um so you guys see more people coming in as you guys are
1:25:45
finishing up the meal um all right so
1:25:50
verdi what do you think but he didn't make it this plan
1:25:55
[Music] first of all i think you're absolutely crazy um
1:26:00
it wouldn't be a first i clapped him on the back
1:26:06
wow i honestly don't think you can do it
1:26:12
without me um you'd be surprised i found out some pretty cool things that we can talk
1:26:18
about later why do you think that we can't do it without you
1:26:24
first of all getting in may i see that seal you are speaking of
1:26:31
maybe later we're in the middle of a restaurant right now yeah
1:26:37
i just want to verify you know do they ever change like or update like
1:26:42
like would i be able to like know the quality and make sure it's a good quality feel um [Music]
1:26:48
you would definitely be but you know that the military hasn't updated their what it visually looks like in
1:26:55
years and years and as i'm familiar with some of the documentation
1:27:01
that they use i can verify the um credentials that you will be
1:27:08
essentially forging um also and no offense as i sort of flick around
1:27:15
the group i believe you need the manpower if he gets into a fight probably
1:27:23
we're hoping it won't come to blows we don't want to make anyone a traitor
1:27:30
taylor
1:27:38
she does know the area well we have maps or we looked at maps
1:27:44
but it might be nice to have someone in there too here's what troubles me
1:27:49
why the exerpent some of gold we're sent here from a mutual friend who has altruistic
1:27:56
motives to redeem some terrible crime he's done
1:28:01
which we're well aware we've seen the statues and
1:28:06
you led us to believe that you two have committed some crime you're repenting
1:28:12
for so in my mind charging gold for
1:28:17
giving your help doesn't help your debt at all so
1:28:23
i'm confused as to your motivations here and if i don't know your motivations
1:28:29
then i don't know if i can trust you when the cloud's dark in the skies we're not
1:28:35
like swimming in wealth here we are just going day by day and just
1:28:40
trying to help the world so it's
1:28:46
it's kind of weird for you to be like hey so-and-so sent me here to help you also give me like all the money you have
1:28:54
you know i did not say give me all the money you had but you don't know how much money i have that is all the money
1:29:00
i have you did ask for all the money i have you don't know how much i have that is
1:29:05
literally all the money i have you are more than welcome to find and try to find any other mercenary
1:29:13
but we didn't try to find you you were sent to us to help because you want peace
1:29:20
or so you say or so you say yeah so so which is it we didn't look for a
1:29:25
mercenary we were just gonna do this on our own and figure it out so do you want peace or do you want to
1:29:31
be a mercenary cause those seem like they don't go together
1:29:40
oma take a look around here take a look around the walls
1:29:46
take a look at the people you see them dining you see them laughing
1:29:52
you see maybe less in this place but in other dining establishments you see
1:30:00
things creatures races people coming together
1:30:06
when you're on the waterfront you're treated as a body
1:30:12
but when you step into a tavern [Music]
1:30:18
it's it's just your friends your family it's a way to build connections and
1:30:26
as ridiculous as it sounds
1:30:32
i would like to one day open a tavern
1:30:37
so you're a mercenarian so you can open a tavern and make people happy
1:30:42
it sounds absolutely ridiculous but after you've been through war and seen the pain and
1:30:48
how it tears apart communities and destroys families and relationships
1:30:59
taven is a magical place that brings people together faraday
1:31:08
if you open a tower now it doesn't end the war
1:31:14
but if you help us make peace
1:31:20
that doesn't mean you can't make money and open a tavern later it just means you're opening a tavern
1:31:26
outside of war and wouldn't that be better
1:31:33
oma i need the funds i have family also that i need to take
1:31:39
care of if you would like my assistance
1:31:45
there is a fee for that right but why is it 125 cold pieces like
1:31:51
i've literally never seen that much money before i we came here on a boat and we were
1:31:56
paid six gold pieces for 24 hours of work like i just don't
1:32:03
understand i just don't understand i just don't see
1:32:10
them it's not that you want to be paid for your work okay everybody should be paid for the work
1:32:17
they do but at the end of the day we are all just bodies and we are just valued for
1:32:23
what we do and why should you
1:32:31
get so much more than everybody else around you for the same amount of time of work
1:32:42
as i said you can absolutely try to find someone else who can assist you with this
1:32:48
but i don't know if we need anybody to assist us you haven't really shown us that like we need any help
1:32:55
or that we can trust you
1:33:03
i don't know how else to show you that the value that i can provide other than
1:33:10
i honestly do not think you can do this alone i think you need the backup i think you need
1:33:16
but can't 25 gold pieces call us good and a nice dare
1:33:25
25 pieces doesn't even buy a horse how do these horses are more trouble
1:33:31
than their work and to be fair where else can you get
1:33:37
work that'll give you 25 gold we've we got six gold for working on a boy the
1:33:43
countryside so yes it it's probably fine if you want to split to find other work but it's not going to be even near what
1:33:49
we could pay you which is 25 gold if we are in a capital city to be honest
1:33:55
i've never really understood all that much about how these gold pieces operate just that you
1:34:00
give them and you get things and you give more of them and you get other things i suppose in the capital city where the
1:34:08
there's the leads and the i don't know the
1:34:14
beings that control the other beings in the place where all the power is concentrated i
1:34:21
guess that things cost more here but even at that i
1:34:27
i don't think i've ever it would be more money than i've ever seen in my life as well
1:34:33
hell here's my estimation right we could go find any other mercenary but
1:34:38
you're the one with the military ties and you have some kind of commitment to helping us
1:34:43
from hey freed so that uh uh is in your favor um
1:34:49
and the consideration that this is essentially hazard pay
1:34:54
you don't have to go with us if you don't if you're so much of a hazardous major
1:35:03
of our credentials if you will um we have to bring it along to get us in
1:35:09
the door that is true but i've been on the war front
1:35:16
i've treated men that your allies cut down cut the limbs off of
1:35:22
bombarded with cannon and i've treated your allies
1:35:28
who have been captured i've repaired them and i don't seek funds
1:35:35
for some hollow attempted redemption to create a place like this where
1:35:41
the inequality is evident on the walls and on the ridiculous
1:35:47
meals so
1:35:52
i don't trust you as far as i can try and i don't understand what you're after
1:35:59
are there other things you value the besides money that might be able to
1:36:04
suffice yeah we could also
1:36:10
owe you one i have
1:36:16
very little gold i have 40. i'll put it in toward this exorbitant
1:36:22
fee i don't care about the money it's not important it's not about that it's that
1:36:28
it it's it's that i agree with caleb you you spout out how much you want to work for peace
1:36:36
and then you you you want to eat at this
1:36:42
fancy restaurant for no reason you want
1:36:49
tons of gold to be a mercenary
1:36:54
so that you can open a tavern to do this to people
1:37:01
i just don't understand i mean the risk is great she doesn't know us
1:37:07
and um yeah but if you take all of our gold how do we eat the next day how do we get a
1:37:13
roof over our head it's true it does sound like peace should be the payment that she's getting
1:37:20
but it doesn't seem like that's all she wants rescuing xavier from the prisoner isn't a direct line to peace right it
1:37:25
helps us on our goals and i think xavier can probably help us a great deal
1:37:31
if he's as powerful as he seems to be just from the amount of work don't keep him that's actually good
1:37:37
point he may be able to help further your goals farther than gold can
1:37:44
potentially he might have magical ways of getting you a tavern he might have who knows we have also failed to
1:37:50
consider that savior might have in his possession things that are worth more
1:37:55
than even twice three times 20 125 gold and that there would be some kind of
1:38:02
gratitude from him i don't want to assume anything of course but
1:38:07
i if i were locked up and someone broke me out of a prison that i had no idea
1:38:12
what the end time would be i would be incredibly grateful um we didn't live in
1:38:18
a life of luxury we stayed out of cities
1:38:26
i i don't know what you're expecting from him just because he's got talent doesn't mean he's got like a bunch of
1:38:32
savings because money doesn't matter do we have the gold to pay her or not we do the thing of value here is xavier's life
1:38:39
that's what we're preserving that's all i care about but i don't know if we need her
1:38:46
march would do it for free she gets us through the front door that's it that's enough
1:38:53
for 50 gold i look over it
1:39:06
i look flat i look down trying to look him up i hold my
1:39:20
and i just uh stroke my chin
1:39:27
90. in addition to what we've already paid and your dinner
1:39:33
or including what we've already paid you and your dinner
1:39:40
enough to buy a horse i don't want the actual horse i'm just
1:39:46
giving a relationship you said not even enough to buy a horse
1:39:52
so or you can not make anything today
1:40:00
and then it's a waste and then you have to track all the way back early eight
1:40:05
to hayfreed with nothing and we'll be telling you freed all about your help
1:40:12
55
1:40:18
after it's done deal stick my hand up in the air to shake to
1:40:24
shake hers all right and uh with that uh
1:40:29
not so steady uh relationship forge tensions building attention building
1:40:35
within the group um that is where we're going to end today's session we're going to call it right there
1:40:41
[Music] spicy yeah um we're going to call it right there thank you all so much for
1:40:47
listening and we can't wait to see you guys again next week bye nerds hi nerds it's russ here i just wanted to

1:41:06
