Canadian 80’s icons, SPOONS, launched two greatest hits albums: “Repeatable: 1980-2020”, a CD and double vinyl collection celebrating the best of SPOONS music spanning over four decades and “Echoes” a special and unique project benefiting the Unison Fund features SPOONS’ songs re-recorded by artists around the world from England and the USA to Australia and Canada.
Formed in 1980 a young band emerging from Burlington, Ontario comprised of Derrick Ross, Rob Preuss, Gord Deppe and Sandy Horne would soon make “SPOONS” a different kind of household word. The remarkable four-piece would help define the sound of pop and new wave in the eighties with such hits as “Nova Heart”, “Romantic Traffic”, “Old Emotions” and “Tell No Lies”.
Their album “Arias & Symphonies” would go on to be named one of the twenty most influential albums of the eighties by “The Chart” magazine and their song “Nova Heart” was recently included in Bob Mersereau’s book “The Top 100 Canadian Singles of All Time”.
It is a true pleasure to welcome back via ZOOM on Beach Corner now in its 10th season as my first guests of the year, Sandy Horne and Gord Deppe from SPOONS who will share their latest new albums and the eighties revival.
