The Elephant Girls written and performed by Margo MacDonald and directed by Mary Ellis is scheduled for Saturday, June 2nd at Collingwood’s Simcoe Street Theatre located at 65 Simcoe Street. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with the show at 8:00 p.m.This is a one-woman show based on the history of the forty Elephants, an all-female gang, known s the forty thieves which terrorized London for over a century. The play focuses on the 1920’s when the gang was at the height of its power. Margo explores the story of the gang through her fictional character named, Maggie Hale.This production has received many accolades over the years such as Winner of the Best of Fest, Outstanding Production, Critic’s Pick For Best Show at the 2015 Ottawa Fringe Festival, Outstanding New Work, Direction and Performance at the 2017 Les Prix Rideaux Awards, Critic’s Choice Award at the 2017 Hamilton Fringe and Best Actress at the Capital Critics Circle.Joining Dianna for this week's show via phone is multi-award winning actor, director and theatre creator, Margo MacDonald. Margo will share how she found this piece of history and the importance of having this story told.
