She was the first black woman to win a Juno Award, Canadian singer/songwriter based in Toronto, Liberty Silver won two Juno Awards in 1985 for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year and Reggae Recording of the Year. Since then, she has captured a total of five Juno nominations.

In the mid-eighties, Liberty appeared in Canada’s Ethiopian Famine Relief song “Tears Are Not Enough” singing a duet with Mike Reno of Loverboy where she won a Grammy for her collaboration.

She also co-wrote and performed the official theme songs for the 1996 Atlanta, Georgia and 2004 Athens, Greece Olympic Games and has performed for world leaders. Liberty is renowned for her six-plus octave range.

Recently she performed at the Carassauga Festival in Mississauga recognized as Canada’s largest multicultural festival.
