Show Notes

Four-years ago I had the pleasure of interviewing up and coming Wasaga Beach artist, Sydney Riley where she came in third place in the Singer/Songwriter Category at the Battle of the Sands Competition held during the Wasaga Beach Waterfront Festival. According to the judges, she was one to watch closely.

Since then, she has received a “FACTOR Artist Development Grant” early this year and has released her first EP on September 14th titled “Water” available across all streaming platforms with hard copies accessible via her live performances.

“Water” was inspired by growing up in a beach town. “It made sense for me to have my first collection of songs revolve around the theme of water. The beach has always been a place, I’ve gone to collect my thoughts and ground myself in a way. The ‘Water’ EP describes the ups and downs of relationships with not only others, but with oneself. I wanted the whole EP to feel like one wave coming up during a big lightning storm, then settling down under clear skies,” said Sydney.

Inspired by Led Zeppelin and Queen, her music genre is a mix between folk, pop with roots in rock. Sydney brings heartfelt, deeply personal lyrics to a powerful voice, creating music with her art.

Joining Dianna via zoom from Wasaga Beach is singer/songwriter, Sydney Riley. For more information visit sydneyriley.com or her social media platforms.
