BEACH CORNER with Dianna Chycki - Sept. 24, 2024 - THE KINGS
More than four decades later, The Kings are still going strong. In 2024, they released a new full-length album, “The Longest Story Ever Told” with their single titled “Nowhere to Go But Gone” rising on the chart.
The Kings are best known for their breakout double A-sided single, “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ to Glide”, which reached number 43 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980 and remained on the chart for an impressive 23-weeks. The official video for “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ to Glide” has surpassed six million views on You Tube.
Over their remarkable music career, The Kings earned a Canadian Juno Award nomination, achieved Platinum Album and Gold Single status, and were inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Having performed over 2,000 live shows, The Kings are a highly sought-after concert act across the western hemisphere.
On November 8th, they are scheduled to perform at Planet Hollywood Cancun for the Five-Day The Sands Festival, appearing alongside fellow eighties survivors Rick Springfield, Bret Michaels, The Fixx to name a few. The Kings are back, showing they’ve still got plenty of energy.
