It's in chapter three. 00:07:33.833 --> 00:07:44.865 It shows up all over the place, and you can go down almost verse by verse, and if you have a Bible was with cross-references, you'll see the Psalms cross-referenced over and over again. 00:07:44.865 --> 00:07:48.333 Some of them are exact quotes, some of them are allusions to themes and ideas. 00:07:50.000 --> 00:07:58.699 But I think what's encouraging is that Jonah knows the only place I have to turn in this moment is to God's Word. 00:07:58.699 --> 00:08:14.165 That's a powerful lesson for us when you've hit the bottom, when you feel like there's nowhere else to go, even though, you know, I probably should have turned here a long time ago, man, turn to God's Word, turn to him, cry out to him. 00:08:14.800 --> 00:08:19.333 So that's the first lesson to learn here from Jonah's prayer. 00:08:19.632 --> 00:08:21.600 But now look what happens next. 00:08:21.600 --> 00:08:29.500 Because Jonah, as he's praying this prayer, even though it is a collection of Psalms, it has a bit of a flow to it. 00:08:29.500 --> 00:08:32.500 It has a little bit of a a story to it. 00:08:33.000 --> 00:08:39.299 In fact, the thing to notice here, second point in your outline is that there's a key turning point in this psalm. 00:08:40.600 --> 00:08:46.200 There's a place here where the story has a key hinge, a key turning point. 00:08:46.200 --> 00:08:49.899 So it starts out with him talking about the bad situation situation he's in. 00:08:49.899 --> 00:08:52.932 In verse three, you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas. 00:08:52.932 --> 00:08:55.299 Verse four, I'm driven away from your sight. 00:08:55.299 --> 00:08:56.033 Verse five. 00:08:56.033 --> 00:09:00.000 The waters closed in over me to take my life. --> 00:09:50.232 And then from there he goes down into the whale, into the belly of the whale, which takes him down further into the water. 00:09:50.232 --> 00:10:02.066 And as he's already said, down into the belly of Sheol, he knows the end is coming further and further down, further and further away from the Lord. 00:10:02.432 --> 00:10:04.166 But here's the key turning point. 00:10:04.166 --> you brought me up. 00:10:23.133 --> 00:10:23.932 And I love that. 00:10:23.932 --> 00:10:27.633 Jonah is quick to acknowledge you're the one who did this. 00:10:27.633 --> 00:10:30.432 You rescued me. 00:10:30.432 --> 00:10:33.432 It reminds me of Ephesians chapter two. 00:10:34.033 --> 00:10:45.365 It's one of my favorite passage to talk with people about when it comes to talking about Christ working in your life, because the whole first three verses are about how dead you are spiritually. 00:10:45.365 --> 00:10:47.566 You were dead in your trespasses and sins. 00:10:47.566 --> 00:10:48.633 You were going your own way. 00:10:48.633 --> 00:10:50.732 You were chasing after all the ways of this world. 00:10:50.732 --> 00:10:52.700 You were following the prince of the power of the air. 00:10:54.200 --> 00:10:57.200 You loved darkness. 00:10:57.799 --> 00:11:08.432 But then verse four starts with this, this one word, two words, but God, but God being rich in mercy because of his great love for us. 00:11:08.432 --> 00:11:11.100 And he does three things there. 00:11:11.100 --> 00:11:14.066 He raises us. 00:11:14.066 --> 00:11:15.732 Jonah raised. 00:11:15.732 --> 00:11:17.232 He lifted me up. 00:11:17.232 --> 00:11:20.666 Seated us with him in the heavenly places. 00:11:20.666 --> 00:11:23.666 He made us alive. 00:11:24.265 --> 00:11:27.299 And if you're dead, move in my life. 00:11:50.566 --> 00:12:01.533 And there's something so powerful about that where I think if you're at the bottom, you've got to get to the point where you realize there's nothing else
