I am a national chess master, who was born and raised in New York City. After working in Enterprise Sales for a years after graduating Cum Laude from Brandeis University with a BA in Business International Studies, I decided to begin Premier Chess in September 2017. Since then, we have partnered with 100+ schools and companies including the law firm Kramer Levin. On this podcast, I speak about business, life, education and chess and bring on frequent guests. In Episode 117, I have the privilege of conversing with Debbie Eastburn, CEO and President at Chess in the Schools (CIS). Chess in the Schools serves over 12,000 low-income students in Title 1 New York City public schools through structured classroom chess instruction, after school clubs, chess tournaments, summer programs, and a College Bound program for over 100 high school students. We use chess as an educational tool to promote learning and to help young people develop skills in critical thinking and problem solving.We talk about my experience working at CIS, the organizations' mission, the benefits of chess, an overview of CIS' programming, corporate sponsorships, fundraising, COVID-19 transition, remote instruction and more.
