Ep. 33: Albinism and 'Golden Like Me'

What exactly is melanin, and what happens when it's missing? In this episode, we talk about the roots of  color - skin color, hair color and eye color, that is. Then we'll dive into two children's books featuring characters with albinism - a genetic condition caused by lack of melanin.

Books:

Golden Like Me - Brandi M. Green
A Blind Guide to Stinkville - Beth Vrabel

Resources:
National Organization for Albinism and Hyperpigmentation - NOAH is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide accurate and authoritative information about all aspects of living with albinism, and to provide a place where people with albinism and their families, in the United States and Canada, can find acceptance, support and fellowship.  (http://albinism.org)

Beyond Suncare - A nonprofit organization focused on the health and wellbeing of people with albinism in Africa.
