• Tao Life Coach • Season 1 • Episode 10

DISCLAIMER

So before you listen I want to tell you that I am not a doctor, psychologist or psychiatrist. I received questions about my own experience and my own perspective. I am not completely for medication and I am not completely against medication. I believe every person, every patient, every client is different and some people need, or better said, could really benefit from medication and others might not. What I do stand for is that everybody needs and deserves the help they need. What matters is your physical and mental health.

So via my Instagram I try to involve you as much as possible. I asked everybody who was following me at TaoLifeCoach and DepresseD2SuccesS what people wanted to know about depression and mental health and a couple of you asked me to make a podcast about MEDICATION and then especially my personal experiences and thoughts about them.

Questions:

1. What is your personal perspective / view on medication?

2. Has it been offered to you?

3. Have you accepted or declined?

4. What were the reasons for your decline or acceptance?

5. What were your personal side effects?

6. What impact had it on you?

7. How do they make you feel?

8. Did you feel a change?

For ADHD they prescribed me Ritalin or methylphenidate, but with the possible side effects I found on an internet search I decided to try an alternative called dextroamphetamines. After I tried it I felt like I took some sort of party drugs. I did feel good, I felt energized, too energized and I could not stay still. After it stopped working I felt a bit lower than usual. I must say before taking the medication I was a bit sceptical and it did not feel right to me. So I stopped fairly quickly with it and decided to continue without medication.

Later on when I was diagnosed with a Major Depressive Disorder of course I thought back to the time when they prescribed me medication for ADHD. This time they prescribed Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors or SSRI’s. I asked for alternatives and did my own research and we decided to go for HEPERIPLANT with Hepericum Perforatum, also known as the very potent herb Saint John’s Wort. This was an anti-depressant I got a prescription for. For me this was very mild, but very pleasant and effective. I started feeling better and better as the days went by and after the medication was finished I stopped. It went good for a while and then I felt I was falling back into a depression, but this time I tried the regular Saint John’s Wort you can get without a prescription and to my surprise it worked faster and better in my experience.

The side effects of my anti-depressants based on Saint John’s Wort was 0%!! And it really helped me to get out of my depression and keep me out of my depression. Note that this was my personal experience and and you might have a different one. And also I was doing a lot of soul searching, working on myself, in the midst of becoming a certified NLP coach and other things. But personally I feel good when I use Saint John’s Wort and the ones without prescription, available in pharmacies and even some grocery stores work the best for me. But always read the package insert and discus it with you doctor of course. Because even though you can buy Saint John’s Wort easily you also have to discuss it with your doctor, because if you need to take other medication they might not work as good anymore when you also take Saint Johns Wort.
