I'm sitting in the parking lot at the Georgetown County Detention Center waiting for another bond hearing. I've been to more bond hearings in the past two months.

SPEAKER_04

I was gonna ask, is it visitor's day?

SPEAKER_02

Just another, another bond hearing, but this one has nothing to do with dogs or a church. This is a whole different. Um yeah, uh, we've been going to a lot of those monuments, but today uh it's a bond hearing for Georgetown's uh municipal judge, Ricky Todd.

SPEAKER_01

What did he do wrong, allegedly?

SPEAKER_02

He was he you know, this is the second um municipal judge for the city of Georgetown that was arrested in the past year.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's not the same one? I thought it was the same one.

SPEAKER_02

No, Robbie O'Donnell was the one that was arrested uh last year for domestic violence. And um now I gotta say those charges have been dropped since then, but he was arrested back uh does he still have a job? Well, he was about to retire anyway as a municipal judge. He had been there for decades as a municipal judge. So he was about to retire anyway. He was gonna he his plans were to was to uh go back and work part-time as an assistant judge. Um, but then when he got arrested, that all went away. So um he's he's just completely retired now. So we got a new municipal judge in the city of Georgetown on June 1st, uh, just two months ago from tomorrow. Um, Ricky Thod, uh an attorney uh that has offices in Georgetown, North Myrtle Beach, and and a couple of other places. He's been the municipal judge since June 1st, uh, but as of last night, he's suspended from that job uh a uh state uh Supreme Court justice signed the uh document yesterday and uh he's suspended. He got arrested yesterday. Um now what what what he did, we're not exactly sure. The only thing we know is the charge is unlawful neglect of a child.

SPEAKER_01

Does he have children?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's got he's got uh he's got a couple of kids, and um the thing about it is this was investigated by Sled, uh not not locally, and we have not been able so far to get like his arrest warrant or anything else. So we don't know what led to the charge. We just know he's charged. He's in jail right now.

SPEAKER_04

Scott Harper since the I I have a question for you. Do you know how old his kids are?

SPEAKER_02

Um I'm spitballing here. Yeah, he's got a daughter that's eleven, and he's got a a son, and I don't know his son's age. It's a it's not an adult.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, would this be related to the Pauli's Island Church?

SPEAKER_02

No. No. Now there is a connection, it's not related to the Pauli's Island Church. Okay, okay um, but there is a connection to the Pauli's Island Church that happened yesterday. Uh I'm going on uh a lot of different things going on, but you remember um a couple of days ago, Michael Fields, one of the elders at Pauli's Island uh community church, was arrested um in connection with the uh investigation. Well, he had a bond hearing yesterday. His attorney didn't show up. He was supposed to show up. That's because his attorney was being arrested. His attorney was Ricky Todd. So there is a connection there. Yeah. So maybe there is a connection. Well, there's a connection. I just don't know if there's a release. You know, I don't think Ricky's got any involvement with um the church except for being an attorney for this Michael Fields. I mean, I I don't think he's uh I don't know, it sounds a little twisted. But then no, yeah, I know because of the charge, because of the charge, it does sound like there's a connection, but the charge and law of uh unlawful neglect of a child has nothing to do with the church. It has to do with uh some family situations. And of course his attorney, Ricky Todd's attorney, is saying it's all false, it's all you know, not true. Uh he's saying it's a uh a a bitter divorce hearing that's going on and a divorce case that's going on, and he claims the uh the wife, uh soon-to-be ex-wife, is making it all up. So, but what is what's she making up? I don't know because we haven't gotten the I mean, we've heard rumors, we've heard, but I'm I'm not gonna say anything till we get the arrest warrant. And um you know, um you know, so we'll see what happens. He's having a bond hearing at nine o'clock, and um he'll get out of jail, you know, shortly after that. But he doesn't have a judgeship to go to, and that he's been suspended by the state. Um, so we'll see what the city of Georgetown does about getting a municipal judge. I'm sure that means any court cases they had coming up in the next week or two are gonna have to be delayed, you know, till some other time.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Nick Nick just showed me there's uh some kind of um alert that came out over the phone uh a message from the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson. Did you see that at all?

SPEAKER_03

No ma'am.

SPEAKER_01

I was having to it just came out. Uh Nick, what what does it say?

SPEAKER_04

Uh 15th Circuit Solicitor said more arrests could come in the Pauli's Island case. I have not had a chance to uh read through this thing. He said multiple arrests are common during investigations like this, and this is on the heels of what you just mentioned, the Michael Anthony Fields as the uh Right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we were told yesterday that um in fact we were told that another connection that Ricky Todd, the attorney, was supposed to meet uh with with investigators or something yesterday because of other people that have not been arrested yet. That I guess he was gonna represent or something. I I I don't know, but we were told that yesterday that you know those meetings didn't happen like they were supposed to. So yeah, he um so he does have a lot of uh connections as far as the uh attorneyship goes, but um you know, as um not as far as you know, him being involved with any of the crimes at the church. Um so we've had that and we've got um you know Michael Fields, you know, yeah, he was he was an elder at the church and still is. In fact, when he was having his bond hearing yesterday, he said that uh his employer was uh Polythotten Community Church. So I didn't know that. I didn't know he was an actual employee of the church. But um basically he's charged with uh, you know, knowing about uh the um sex offender status of Warren Perry and not uh not informing or informing police or not letting people know about it. So um yeah, that he's the fifth arrest in that case. I don't I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't go to seven, eight, ten, ten people maybe. I I don't know. I mean they're just uh it's you know, people that knew about it and uh you know didn't do anything about it. And so yeah, it's gonna be in and the the lawsuits of course, you know, continuing to pile up. I think we've had five of those now. Five different lawsuits filed against the church or and the school. You know, and the most uh recent one uh was filed um today's pride so Wednesday, and that one included the uh South Carolina uh parole board, pardon and parole board as a defendant in that case. The the first ones to sue the state on behalf of this. So um we're gonna see. Those are you know, we'll see when those start going to court and what happens there. The other big news it's it well no, I mean it's just big news because uh for the kids, it's the final weekend. They go back to school Monday. Yeah. Um, already school year time in Georgetown County. And um so we're gonna see what uh Yeah, well how how the year goes we we um do have a story on our website about uh the one thing the school district did over the summer is uh at the high schools uh that needed them, uh they installed new weight rooms for athletes. And um Caldrence Base got one that I went to yesterday. And I mean it looks like Planet Fitness in there. They have gone all out on uh on making these things uh great for the athletes in our schools. So that's uh one thing they've got to look forward to. But um, yeah, so I guess the uh one one thing people keep asking me about is the dogs. What happened with the dog case? Really there's nothing new, yeah, nothing new going on there. I mean, uh and this is the way you know these cases happen. You know, you have the arrests, you have the bond hearings, and you have that kind of stuff. And then it dies down until they go to court. So um there's really not a lot to uh to say about the dog case. It's uh still I guess uh they got they have a mandatory hearing uh that they've got to go to in September. So that's the next time we'll uh hear any more about that, I'm sure. Unless unless they get some more dolls and violate the um you know, violate their their bond restrictions. So that's some of what's happening.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, some some of it I've been watching, you know, what's been happening with the dogs getting, you know, um adopted and all of that.

SPEAKER_02

So Yeah, it's kind of interesting. The um local St. Francis Humane Center, um, they're not adopting the dogs out yet. Um that they have still in their custody. But you know, they've sent a lot of the dogs to different uh animal shelters across the state because you know they were so overcrowded. Those agencies are adopting them out when they get them. So I don't know why we're not adopting them out here um when the other shelters are doing it.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe they transferred the more healthy dogs to other facilities and they're keeping the sicker dogs and nursing them back to health close to home.

SPEAKER_02

That could be. That could be. But um, yeah, I know they did say they sent out a uh uh well not not a press release, but they posted something on the Facebook page this week saying that they did have one of the dogs that did get sick once at the shelter, something happened and and he got sick. And so they're testing all the dogs to make sure you know they don't have the same thing. Okay but maybe maybe you're right about that. Maybe it is because of uh they said the ones that could be adopted to the other shelters, and then they're keeping the ones that need more care here. Um but at some point they'll be adopted out, you know, and I'm sure people are waiting in line to uh to use them because uh that's a story that touched on the heartstrings of a lot of people, and um they want to help this dog. So hopefully they'll get good, good permanent homes soon. I hope.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. They've suffered so much. Scott Harper of Gab News Online. You can uh keep your finger on the pulse of Georgetown and beyond, and you're doing Conway as well.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, we're gonna do something. We haven't started yet. We're we're gonna try to do that soon. A little little Conway.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, and by the way, speaking of Conway, thanks for um promoting uh my birthday party for for fostering hope. We appreciate that. I noticed that on your side.

SPEAKER_02

I'm sorry, I gotta change it. I'm glad you said it, I gotta change the ad. It's still up there, isn't it? Yeah, thank you so much though. I appreciate that. Well, and let me let me apologize. I was coming to your party. I was it was on my calendar. I had it on my calendar to come to your party. But then Jenny Williams got arrested, you know, Friday. Right. She had a late, she had a late afternoon bond hearing, so I was stuck in Georgetown. Oh that's why I had to miss. But yeah, it was I had actually put it on my calendar to go to to your party. So that's why I wasn't there because the Polly's Island case.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. And it was so bad out with the rain and all that. So but thank you so much. We appreciate it.

SPEAKER_02

Well, thank you. Have a great weekend. You too.
