SPEAKER_08

All right, it is 6.07 on the Liz Callaway show with Nick Summers, but it's Friday. I have to make two phone calls today, and I can only remember the one I needed to make. I hate it when that happens. It is Friday morning, August 7th. Glendai Radio is here.

SPEAKER_13

You got a calendar on your phone.

SPEAKER_08

You just No, I like yesterday I was going, I was get I was trying to get a lot of things done yesterday. Um and just checking off the list, just barreling through, and I was like, okay, tomorrow I gotta make this phone call. Oh yeah, and I gotta call that person. I can't remember who the other person is.

SPEAKER_13

Oh, I agree.

SPEAKER_08

Um and I just cannot remember who that is.

SPEAKER_13

And and this busyness, this is all attributed to moving, right?

SPEAKER_08

Um no, I I wanted to get on the uh Department of Aging. I don't know if you've ever heard of that department in Ori County, but um the state has a State Department of Aging and every county has their own. And there are there there I heard that there's a tremendous amount of support and resources for people that are trying to age in place, trying to understand Medicare. I am very confused about Medicare.

SPEAKER_13

I'm not.

SPEAKER_08

Um and you're not?

SPEAKER_13

I got a girl, man. Yeah, I got a person. Oh. I you know, I just went through that.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, I did I didn't know.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

No, how would I know that?

SPEAKER_13

Turn 65.

SPEAKER_08

Okay.

SPEAKER_13

You know, so Medicare.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_13

Uh part A, part B, part D, part, I forget whatever. But yeah, I um I actually had um uh Jared take a look at it. That's what he does for a living. And then um I was Jared. Uh he uh owns an insurance business down in Surfside Beach. Okay. Um and then I also had um Heather, um, who's on our weekend show on Saturday, Impact and Inspiration. That's what she does for a living, and she told me you made the right decision, you're in good shape. I'm not worried at all.

SPEAKER_07

I I really But what is your decision? Um what what kind of decision did you have to make?

SPEAKER_13

Uh well, my my previous company that I retired from, they were giving me a stipend for my health care. Once you hit 65, they take that stipend away, but they offer you that part D and part whatever else. So it includes your uh your gap coverage, that 20%, uh, your prescriptions, your dental, and your eye care. Okay. Um, and all for one low monthly fee.

SPEAKER_08

And who do you get that from?

SPEAKER_13

Um it's different companies, but it it came through my my fund, my retirement fund.

SPEAKER_08

Okay. The reason why I'm asking is because, you know, I'm I'm trying to manage this for my mom. Right. And I'm very confused about it because there are a lot of resources out there that you cannot get if you get a Medicare Advantage plan.

SPEAKER_09

Right.

SPEAKER_08

And I don't know what that means. Well, you should be able to do that. And I believe I have one uh for my mom, and I think it's the wrong one. And I tried to get in touch with the person, and the person is no longer answering the phone. Um, and so I had to call the company directly and I had to switch the plan within the company, which is what I did for now, uh, so that my mom could get the proper dental care she needed.

SPEAKER_09

Right.

SPEAKER_08

And so now I'm reading more and more. And they're like, oh wait, you have an advantage plan? No, got your Medicare, you know, thing is gone. Um, you know, like it's superseded by this advantage plan. And I'm like, wait a minute, did I just hurt myself? And then I talk to doctors who say when you get an advantage plan, it hardly pays anything to them and you know, for you. And then if you just had Medicare, it actually pays more. So I don't really know what the answer is.

SPEAKER_13

Well, Heather Alexander can answer that. She actually advertises on our station. Okay. Heather Alexander and Associates Insurance. And she will review everything for you and she'll give you what you need to know. She will unconfuse you.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. It's very confusing and very overwhelming, and they send you this big book. Did you get the book?

SPEAKER_09

Oh yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Oh yeah. So I got this big book and I said, Okay, so I you know what I need to know? Here's here's the thing. I only want to know what I need to know.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_08

I don't need to know every single thing about Medicare. That book is for a it's not for your reading leisure. It's for like, it's like, okay, I need to look something up. That's the instruction manual. But when you don't know what you're looking up, it's overwhelming to look at that book.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, and that's why I brought in a professional. Yeah. And I was pretty sure with Jared, what you know, I was actually told he's he is brilliant, I gotta tell you. If you if you don't know Jared, he's always the smartest guy in the room. He grew up in this area, he is gifted, and he is just a smarty pants person. All right.

SPEAKER_08

And um and then when Heather But he does the same thing as she does? Yes. Okay.

SPEAKER_13

Yes.

SPEAKER_08

But she's you're not sending me to this the smarty pants person.

SPEAKER_13

Well, I'm sending you to Heather because she's sending me to Heather. She'll be in here t later today to record her um the show. Okay. Impact and inspiration. Okay. Yeah. And she's great. She's she's angelic. She's a wonderful person.

SPEAKER_08

All right, excellent. All right. So so that is uh the Department of Aging also does that, uh, of some sort, some kind of uh navigating. So you never heard of the Department of Aging?

SPEAKER_13

I have heard of it, but I've never needed them.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. Well, what happens is, you know, well, I was just thinking because your parents were elderly, yeah. Um and they have a lot of things that they do and things that they offer. Um, and of course they have senior centers and things like that. So I just uh if anyone is interested in learning more about what they do, HCC OA dot org. Hcc O A dot org. Um and let me see here. It's a private nonprofit company to provide senior care services throughout Ori County. And it was created in accordance with the older Americans Act to provide in-home services, senior care services, and senior activities for members in the community. So the Ory County Council, HCC O A on Aging, um, is said they're here to help you with meal assistance, housekeeping, and a variety of activities designed to help you maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Um they they're the ones that have those senior centers in various locations, and uh I just need to know more about what if there is anything um once I bring my mom home with me um that we can tap into for her uh for um I guess uh enrichment of some sort. So I don't know if any of you have had experience with the Department of Aging, but um I think a lot of people don't know about it, honestly. And I want to um bring that to you. So I have to do that.

SPEAKER_13

There's actually a good good point on the um budget blinds text line. Uh you know, if you leave a plan, it's hard to get another plan, so you really have to be prepared. That's what they say. This decision that I made was important because a year from now, yeah, say the the fund raises my rates just to try and push me out. Okay, say they double or triple my my rate, then I would have to go look somewhere else. But it's harder because you're you know it's not your initial decision, it's the second decision, and there are more restrictions about what medications you take and things like that. So um he made a good point. I don't know who this is, but um high deductible with the uh Medicare, if you go with a high advantage plan, there's a high deductible and uh everything else. And if you try to get back into Medicare after you leave, it's very difficult, and it it is. I've heard that.

SPEAKER_08

So my mother had some sort of plan in New York. And so when she when she came here, I spoke to someone who recommended the plan I had, and I didn't like that plan, so now I upped the plan, right? The same plan, but upped it. And um I don't even know if it gave her better coverage with the all all the other stuff she was getting prior, but it did give me dental. Um, and I have a mental block with understanding insurance. Yeah, I don't know why, but I just do you know, like those what those things, those topics that you just can't it doesn't click in my head. I can figure out a lot of stuff, believe me. Mark Mass cannot figure out that.

SPEAKER_13

Heather Alexandra. If it was easy, everybody would do it, right? I'm telling you.

SPEAKER_08

It's very complicated. And um, you know, I mean, I just got through the whole process of getting the house insured.

SPEAKER_09

Right.

SPEAKER_08

And it's very hard when you live kind of half a mile from the ocean, how that works out. It's very hard to navigate. There's very few to choose from, and then you don't know. Like you have all these hurricane uh you know, 2021 they came up with all these hurricane things, and so when you they build your house now, it has to be a certain way. Um and so I don't know. I just uh I question all those things. And I'm like, Am I getting all the perks I'm supposed to get?

SPEAKER_13

And and you know that you know as well as I do that the uh insurance on your home is really going up quite a bit. And we had a couple of um uh companies that basically left South Carolina. They're like, Yeah, we're not insuring anymore. And I was a victim, I guess if you want to call that, may twice since I've been in my house ten years. Gulfstream was one that just went belly up and left the state, and then can't remember the other one that I had, but that one was um ridiculous. And actually, that insurance company that I had my car insurance and my homeowner's insurance lost both of them because I got I got a letter from my mortgage company saying we found that you have no homeowner's insurance. And so we've signed you up for this real high high one, right? So I called the company and um they're located locally. And um I said, you know.

SPEAKER_08

You ever got a letter about that company?

SPEAKER_13

Oh, and it really made me mad because when I called them, they said, Yeah, we tried to call you. And I'm like, What number did you call? Well, they didn't have the right number in their system. Number two, I said, Have you heard of email or a letter in the mail? Because this is very alarming. There was a time at some point I did not have homeowners insurance. So if my home burned down, yeah, you all would have been responsible. So anyway, they seemed laxadaisy about it, and that's when I decided, okay, I'm I'm gonna take my car insurance from you too. So you yeah, there's winners and losers in the insurance game.

SPEAKER_08

And yeah, well, yeah, so it's like you have to move around sometimes. You know, you want to stay loyal and you don't want to change, and you don't want to go look. Like these are all things you don't want to do, but sometimes you're just forced to do it.

SPEAKER_13

Well, triple A is who I'm with now, but I did get a message from a friend of mine two days ago saying, Hey, are you with what insurance company are you using? Because I'm with AAA and it just went up like $700 a year. So she kind of gave me the forewarning, and then she said, take a look at Costco. And you know I love me some Costco.

SPEAKER_08

Costco has homeowners insurance?

SPEAKER_13

I guess there's an insurance. Um I know they I they've got everything, so why wouldn't they? You know? I love Costco.

SPEAKER_08

Wow. Okay. All right. Well, that's interesting.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Um yeah, I was looking at them for uh appliances because I need to buy some appliances, unfortunately. And um actually um Lowe's came in better.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

So Costco didn't do it. So there you go. So no. I don't have time to shop around. It's like so frustrating. But you can save thousands if you do.

SPEAKER_13

And uh H what was it? There was where Total Wine is now, where Costco, it wasn't it H H Greg or something like that. It was an appliance store. Yeah. So 10 years ago, when I bought my house, that's where I bought all my appliances on the president station.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_13

Um it's where Total Wine was. And I bought all my appliances from them, and then I don't know, five years later they went out of business.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. So I remember that place. Uh, that was here when I moved here.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, and they were great because I bought it at the president sale and then they held it for like a month and a half until I actually settled on the house.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

That's cool.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, they were good company, I guess.

SPEAKER_08

But I went to like I went to go look at the scratch and dent place because I passed by it.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

But dang, some things are really scratched and dent, dude. And I was like, wait a minute, you're still charging $2,000 for that? Yeah. I'm like, how, why would anybody put this object? You know, because the the refrigerator, you know, have you priced a fridge in lately?

SPEAKER_13

Ten years ago.

SPEAKER_08

They're like four grand.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

It's ridiculous. And they have computers in them.

SPEAKER_13

Well, and and I feel like I'm on the lucky side because my refrigerator's ten years old and they're only built to last now like eight to ten years. So I'm I'm expecting any day, you know, to have to buy a new appliance.

SPEAKER_08

Get this, it's so cool. You you this is a grocery man's dream.

SPEAKER_13

Okay.

SPEAKER_08

Um, you go in to your fridge and you say, Oh, look, my milk is empty. You run the barcode by the scanner in the refrigerator, and it puts it on your shopping list. I mean, it's the coolest thing on the planet. Then it can look in your refrigerator and tell you what meal you can cook.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, what do you have? Yeah. Now, does this one have the screen on the front?

SPEAKER_08

I think so. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_13

The smart screen. And that's kind of like a a hub for, you know, notes for people in the house. It's so crazy.

SPEAKER_08

It's so crazy.

SPEAKER_13

You could probably put on their mom, don't forget to get away.

SPEAKER_08

It's called Kitchen Assistant. Um, and uh, you know, the the house that I'm getting has the GE profile um package and it does not have the fridge or the washer and dryer. Now, the washer and dryer, that's like the the AI in these things are crazy. Everything is connected to your phone. You can start and stop. I mean, like, I'm coming into like today's century.

SPEAKER_13

You know, I actually I actually called a friend that worked at Du's and got some advice before I bought my washer and dryer. When I bought when my daughter moved here, I bought a washer and dryer for that home as well. And I end up getting the same thing, the GE profile.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, you did?

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, and it talks to each other. So if I'm washing jeans, when I turn on the dryer, it's already set to jeans. Um it also lets you know on your phone when you're when you're serious. Yeah, if if it's if the wash is almost complete or your dryer is almost complete. That way your clothes aren't stopping in the dryer and getting wrinkled. It lets you know by your phone. So it communicates with you. And actually, if I had it set up now, I could start my washer and dryer from my phone crazy wherever I am. I love smart stuff smart home stuff.

SPEAKER_08

You do.

SPEAKER_13

Well, I mean, it's kind of in the our in our hub in our business too, you know. So yeah, I I love smart home stuff.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, um, I was talking to someone uh in the plumbing business. Who was I talking to? Uh, but he said that you can wear these meta glasses. I don't know if it was someone that we were interviewing, but you can wear meta glasses and wear them while you're diagnosing like let's say you're a plumber and you see a lead, whatever, and it will help the plumber decide the diagnosis of what's happening.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, or a mechanic. I think it was um Who was it that was telling us? It was uh Um Lieutenant Colonel.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, okay, okay, yeah. Yeah, Chris Hope. He was telling us how the AI, I mean, AI is so in war right now. I mean, like, with everything like that for sure.

SPEAKER_13

And we're using it with chat. I mean, we are you're using it, I'm using it, we're all using it.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, but it's it I'm still a little clunky with it because I don't think I'm maximizing it. But like, for example, um, I put in my son's resume and I told them, I told it, I asked a chat GPT, tell me what job titles he's best suited for. And then it told me that, and then it what do you would he would be great at. And then it would, and then it went ahead and told me, can I can optimize the resume for the search engines that these like you know, um, these websites where you put like Indeed and all these so you can optimize your resume or LinkedIn for the search of said job titles. And you can make a a resume to match each one. I mean, that's wild. Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

And then I heard that there is an AI detector app so that if you are um, you know, if you're a teacher or somebody that needs to make sure the thing that is written is not AI, there's an AI detector.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Uh I don't know. I mean, I can kind of tell tell if something is AI. It has it's a certain style of writing.

SPEAKER_13

Or missing fingers or yeah, you know, a missing arm in the picture.

SPEAKER_08

No, but I mean, not only that, I mean words. You know, when someone sends you something that's AI, and you're like, wait a minute, this is totally out of character for this person. It used to be so casual when you would text somebody or or uh email someone. And now all of a sudden people are texting you in perfect grammar with punctuation, capitalization. It was it used to be just like a letter for a word, right? And we were complaining about that. We're like, oh my gosh, texting and emailing has turned into, you know, nobody's paying attention to capitalization or anything like that. And that really showed that you were like uneducated if you weren't using punctuation, if you weren't right, and now people are sending you perfectly crafted emails.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

And I don't know if it's good or bad because I thought it was bad when everyone was getting all sloppy and stuff.

SPEAKER_13

I had a client ask me a ton of questions. I mean, just all these bullet points. Boom, boom, boom, boom. So I wrote a reply, but then I sent it through AI to make sure that it was professional. Certain things were highlighted as far as in bold letters so that they would completely understand. Then I talked to them and they did not understand. So I had to go through all of it again.

SPEAKER_08

Well, here, I have a question for you.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Because this has happened to me in both these instances. You you are you hire a professional, right? And on a certain topic, let's say it's a doctor, a nurse practitioner, a lawyer, and you get back an AI answer. Does that bother you? Because it bothers the heck out of me. What do you think? What do you think if if if you're getting some kind of medical determination from an AI version of your doctor that you know they generated? I mean, they did generate it and they did look it over and they did send it. But I mean, how do you feel about that? I mean, I when you're paying professionals to do certain things.

SPEAKER_13

We can do that at home, so I don't know. You know, and then you're also paying the guy, you know, your deductible or whatever it is to see the doctor. Um, this wasn't there a teacher that was uh has quit now, a professor. I think it was Brigham Young or some big school. Yeah. He was the first black um person appointed to being a professor at this school. And they'd found out now that he lied.

SPEAKER_12

Oh no.

SPEAKER_13

Um and he plagiarized. And he has a book that's coming out like this week uh that now they're reviewing to see Oh, this is in another country. I think it's in England. But I can't remember the name of the school, but it's a very prestigious book.

SPEAKER_08

And they're saying that it's racist. Yeah.

SPEAKER_13

Well, even checked. Yeah, well, he he quit on his own, but he also said, Don't believe the narrative that you're hearing. Okay, but why'd you quit? And how's your book gonna do now? Yeah, it said that he ran uh 600 miles in six days or something like that, some odd and to raise money or something. And that that was they're saying that was a lie now, too.

SPEAKER_08

It says here, Cambridge professor Jason R. Day. Um, accused of of plagiarism, lying about career, and resigns as the lead school launches their investigation. He was the youngest black man to ever hold a professorship at the Lauded English University. He was the diversity poster boy, they're calling him.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah. And and actually, uh I didn't realize he was the youngest black man, so he wasn't the first at that school. Cambridge. Yeah. Okay. Wow. Yeah. Yeah, what an idiot.

SPEAKER_08

I mean lifted more than 100 passages for a dissertation and fudged his resume.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Wow. He looks like a real winner.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, he does seem like a real winner, doesn't he?

SPEAKER_08

So does Dr. Fauci's wife. What's up with her?

SPEAKER_13

I don't know.

SPEAKER_08

All right. Flipping the bird. Did you see that?

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, um, it was to who? The news or yeah, the news.

SPEAKER_08

It's like really. Just flip the bird to us, you know, six years ago, basically.

SPEAKER_13

Mm-hmm. Yeah, enjoy that two million dollar home.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. So I mean, I that guy's disgusting. Alright, we'll be back.

SPEAKER_13

I'm Ralph Norman running for the United States Senate as the proven conservative. In South Carolina, your word is your bond. Too many people campaign as conservatives, then change once they get to Washington. Not me. You've watched me fight. You've watched me vote. You've watched me keep my word. I'm not asking you to trust what I say. Judge me by what I have already done. When you choose your next senator, you shouldn't have to guess. You should already know. Every time Washington spends more, you pay more. To me, there's no greater fight than the one to protect your money. I've stood with President Trump to secure our border and to strengthen our economy. That's why conservatives trust me to take the fight to the United States Senate, where we need a proven conservative to end the filibuster and pass the Save America Act to secure our elections once and for all. I'm Ralph Norman and I ask for your vote. I approve this message paid for by Ralph Norman for Senate.

SPEAKER_15

Good morning. We now return to the Liz Callaway show with Nick Summers. Are you awake now?

SPEAKER_08

You know, I'm so torn on this whole thing with the organ donor situation. But you know, you take something good that helps other people, it's wonderful, right? That that in in your death, the unfortunate circumstance of your death, you're able to help, I don't know, tens and hundreds of people with eye and this and that and skin and blah, blah, blah, cells, but and you're like, you know what, that's a wonderful thing to be able to do. And you see all those stories, uh, you know, uh someone lost their loved one, and they go and they listen to the heart of their loved one, and the person that's now gotten a new lease on life, and they're a father with children. I mean, it's so heartwarming. Um but this story I played this yesterday. Uh this was RFK Jr. He was telling the story on how what Kentucky did. It's crazy. But here's the sister of the man, and you can literally hear the man sobbing from the audience. The man who I this almost happened to. Listen to this story. It's crazy.

SPEAKER_12

Hello, all right. Senator Kennedy, Administrator Ingalls. I'm Donna Roar, TJ Hoover's sister. I was there. I saw what happened to my brother. They prepared to recover his organs while he was still alive. During the honor walk, his eyes were open. He was tracking me, and they told me it was just reflexes. Then during the heart cath, he was thrashing, crying, and grabbing the doctor's hands to stop him. Even after those signs, the organ procurement process continued until the physician refused to proceed. One of the organization's own coordinators called the home office after the doctor refused. She was told, find another surgeon or you'll lose your job because we're finishing this case. My brother almost died that day. That should never happen to anyone. Laws and standards were clearly violated. Those responsible must be held accountable. When they finally stopped and acknowledged TJ was still alive, they sent him home with me and said, make him comfortable. He will not last. Well, it's been five years and he's still here. I'm grateful every day for that. But he is not the same. He has nightmares. He struggles remembering things. And he asked me, sis, why do they want to kill me? I don't have an answer for him. I'm just his sister. But I know what I saw. I had to quit my job to take care of him full-time. We're barely scraping by. My life is taking care of my brother, and it wears me out sometimes. But this isn't just about TJ. Families deserve confidence that every patient is treated safely and every safeguard is followed before organ recovery is ever considered. We're talking about real lives and real families like mine. I want immediate action beginning here in Kentucky. I want every person who heard TJ and other patients identified and held accountable under the law. All of these people should never be allowed to provide patient care again. Because if we don't act, this will happen again. I'm not going anywhere. I'm TJ's sister, and I will keep fighting until the people responsible are held accountable. So no other family has to live what we're living through.

SPEAKER_09

Wow.

SPEAKER_12

Thank you for coming, Mr. Kennedy. We know patient safety matters to you, and I hope you'll help make sure this never happens to another family again. Thank you.

SPEAKER_13

Can you believe that? That is unbelievable.

SPEAKER_08

Now, here's my question that she did not answer. Did the process of donor procurement harm him in any way other than mentally? But could you imagine they're about to take your organs while you're alive?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

And they're saying, oh no, that's just a reflex. Meanwhile. Could you imagine that?

SPEAKER_13

And she said he was tracking her. He was watching her.

SPEAKER_08

Like, hey, save me.

SPEAKER_13

That's alert.

SPEAKER_08

But was he immobilized? Like, what do they do when they're taking your organs?

SPEAKER_13

I don't know, but he said that that while they were doing a heart cath, I guess we were checking the heart before they harvested it. I I don't know, but can you imagine that being on the table? I've been there, so yeah. No.

SPEAKER_08

No, I mean, about to rip your heart out literally while it's beating.

SPEAKER_13

Unbelievable.

SPEAKER_08

I mean, that's that's insane.

SPEAKER_13

It really is.

SPEAKER_08

So how did they how did we go from something so wonderful that could help so many people to this money money. There you have it. We'll be back in a moment.

SPEAKER_15

All at once came us down from the Liz Callaway Show with Nick Summers is coming back.

SPEAKER_04

Sun Coast Building Products and Services. Oh, they've been in business for over 30 years. It is a homegrown company. The Hill family in Conway, they have a beautiful showroom where you can see everything that we're going to talk about regarding gutters and downspouts and gutter guards. Um, but here's something that you might want to ask yourself: is your gutter system actually working properly? Because it is protecting your biggest investment, your home, your home's foundation, the landscaping, and water damage repairs often cost way more than just upgrading and uh maybe repairing and maintaining your existing gutter system. Now, Suncoast Building Products and Services can do all those things, like repair your gutters, repitch them properly, they can unclog them, install gutter guards, replace your gutter system completely, and you know what? They give free gutter inspections. That's a great way to start. Find them online, go to Suncoastbuilding Products.com.

SPEAKER_08

We should all post our young pictures on our social media. Wouldn't that be great? Yeah, like everybody. They like that uh go back Thursday.

SPEAKER_13

They like that belt buckle with red skin belt buckle. Looks like I won a ro rodeo or something. That was uh that was actually my first trip to New York. Oh uh sixth grade uh field trip. Wow from from Virginia. We took a train that went to the Statue of Liberty, and and then um my mom was uh, you know, one of the people well, I don't know that they asked her. She's probably like, no, I'm going to keep an eye on me on him. Um but um I would be the same way. And on the way back, our train got hit with a bunch of um rocks. Uh there were people standing on the side of the train track, and her old rocks broke the glass. Some people got glass, you know.

SPEAKER_08

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, that's and that was back in, you know, a long time ago. But yeah, a bunch of group of people were throwing rocks at the train as it went by.

SPEAKER_08

And it broke the glass because of the speed. And wow. I heard there's a a rodeo coming to town, isn't there? Um, I saw a sign somewhere.

SPEAKER_13

Um, they have one pretty regularly, uh, but also you know there's a big riding center that's gonna uh that's coming to Conway, a big equestrian center. What? Yeah, you're gonna be able to go to Conway and take um horseback riding lessons and equestrian and maybe some.

SPEAKER_08

Is it the one Heart Ran Heart Ranch? I don't know. The one that moved from because I know that um lady. She used to work for Dixie Stampede and Rock Smith. She was one of the riders like long ago, and she uh actually taught my daughter. I've actually ridden at that stable in uh Heart Ranch, and then now they are moving to Conway.

SPEAKER_13

I I don't know. And then but on Highway 90, you know, there's a huge um I I I thought when they were building it it was gonna be like something for the public, but maybe it's just a huge farm.

SPEAKER_08

But uh Well I did say there's a place I I I really want to get with them called Dreams Hope and Faith Ranch. Did you hear about that? Did you ever hear about that?

SPEAKER_13

I'm not sure about that.

SPEAKER_08

Um back to school picnics with the ponies happening now. That sounds fun. August 3rd through the 18th, pack a picnic, supper, spend time with our horses, capture a few sweet back to school memories, and begin the school with encouragement, prayer, and smiles. Western Grace, inspired by Nancy, will also be on the road throughout August. Come see us at the MT Farm Rodeo produced by Bucketers WC Rodeo, a hundred X worship event, and Barrel Race at Langston Baptist Church. It's a women's event. Uh it's called Western Grace. It's like it's like prayerful of some kind. Water co watercolor and horses at the ranch. That's gonna happen September 18th. Signature hat experience. One of a kind guidance to make a hat. Fall unicorn experience, October 24th. Unicorn memories. Wow, that's really this is a really cool place.

SPEAKER_13

So, what I was talking about is Ory County's planning a major multi-purpose rural service civic center and equestrian facility on 498-acre site along Hardwick Road near Highway 501 and South Carolina 22 in Conway. Projects advanced into schematic design to feature indoor arena, multi uh multi-hundred stall barns and riding trails. Um eight miles west of downtown Conway. Wow. Man. Equestrian shows, rodeos, county fair, the properties designed.

SPEAKER_08

Is that what's going on in Highway 90?

SPEAKER_13

Uh no, I I no, because this is a 501 and 22. Uh Hardwick Hardwick Road.

SPEAKER_08

501 and 22. Oh, that's way up like Ayner, UCLA up there, right? Upper Conway, Lower Aynor. Um here's the rodeo, pro rodeo happening tonight and tomorrow at night at MT Farms uh 5980 Womack Road in Nichols.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, Nickel. Okay, that's I know about that one. And I my daughter's been wanting to go to that. You know, my daughter's got so many pairs of boots. She's a boot collector.

SPEAKER_08

She just wants to wear the boots.

SPEAKER_13

She you know, she's always in boots. Like good for her. She calls them her something kickers, and those are the ones that are kind of dirty. Um but she um yeah, she wears a lot of boots.

SPEAKER_08

You know, I had bought I bought I had bought a pair of boots from I think the store was called Star Boots down in Surfside. Um, and they were advertising with us at the time. And I went down there uh and I found I said, listen, I don't want pretty girl boots. I want real cowboy boots that I can literally ride a horse with. And he sold me a pair of boots that are so comfortable that were like oil resist, like oil-resisting kind of coating on it that kind of repelled anything that would get on it. I love those boots. I can wear them all day long. They're so great.

SPEAKER_13

Well, there's a new boot place coming to um what's the name of that road there with all the tattoo shops?

SPEAKER_07

Oh, Seaboard?

SPEAKER_13

Seaboard Street. Uh, if you get next to Pop Shelf, because we stopped in at Pop Shelf, we're putting together a basket for this Elko thing. Uh-huh. And we stopped at Pop Shelf.

SPEAKER_08

I've never been in it.

SPEAKER_13

All kinds of stuff, but great buys. Um, actually, you know, we do gift baskets for the business, and then we donate them and then people auction them off. Well, she saw these beautiful baskets, and there was only three of them. It had a $15 price tag on it, and she said, Dad online, it says these are only $4.50. So we checked them out. We bought them all because we will we won't have to buy baskets for a while. Right. And they're not.

SPEAKER_08

What do you mean they're online for $4.50?

SPEAKER_13

She looked on their website. So everything was reduced. Um, those um, those things that are rolled up with the chocolate in them, they come in a can. Uh put put uh I can't remember what something like that. It's like um I think it was like two for twelve on the thing, but they were only two fifty a piece.

SPEAKER_09

Wow.

SPEAKER_13

So we actually went back and got more of those because those will go in gift baskets as well. Yeah. She looked at the date, how long they're good for, and things like that. You know, you try and buy in bulk so you don't have to be running around every time you donate a gift basket.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. I love it. I've never been to that. So so in that shopping center, they're gonna put a boot store.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, right next to the cost.

SPEAKER_08

I took Nicolina for her birthday and and I went up to Cavendish. It's a new place like heading into North Myrtle Beach. Uh maybe it's in North Myrtle Beach. Um on uh 17. I went to that boot store. I bought boots and um uh Wild West and I bought boots and store boots, but I bought these boots, and that is a beautiful store. Beautiful store um up there. So we have a little I you know, it'd be great to see that horse community uh really have a home here. So the rodeo is happening tonight and tomorrow. That has to be really cool. Unfortunately, Javier is working tonight.

SPEAKER_13

And he was working at tractor supply, they'd like to give him free tickets, probably.

SPEAKER_08

You know, he's got a lot of horse people that come in there, and he's like, You have no idea, Liz, how much they have to buy to support these horses. Some people have like 20, 30 horses.

SPEAKER_13

Ivermectin and oh, yeah, definitely ivermectin.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. But um, yeah. All right. It is uh 652.

SPEAKER_13

SPEAKER_08

Oh, she wants to go.

SPEAKER_13

Go to the rodeo, and it's called Boot Barn in next to Pop Shelf. And actually somebody else.

SPEAKER_08

Are you opening it?

SPEAKER_13

No, it's it's still it's not open, but it soon will be. Um the um Mike the AR guy said Pop Shelf is owned by Dollar General. It's like a nice Dollar General, and that's what I would say. It's pretty nice.

SPEAKER_08

You know what store I've never been in, and I always wonder what's in it, is Roses. Just can someone tell me. I've been in Roses. You've been in Roses? What what's in that store?

SPEAKER_13

Uh isn't that the fabric store? Isn't it um in it up there next to the uh Mexican place across the street? Uh the dee dee dee-dee-dee.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, is there a roses there? That's right by my house. I I'm talking about the one up on 17. Yeah, isn't it? Is there one right by my house?

SPEAKER_13

Um Mexicana. I'm like oblivious. Mexica something. There's a restaurant there, then there's a roses. And that's where that frame shop is that I always refer people to. There's a frame shop there, too. Yes, and it is a very good frame shop. Trust me, you don't want to go to some of these hobby stores because they are just outrageous in price. Really? I've had a lot of things framed there. They do a great job.

SPEAKER_08

Useful information.

SPEAKER_13

They do a great well, and I only learned it because Dave, who owns the magic shop at Broadway at the beach, uh huh. He had a bunch of magic posters from the United States Postal Service. And um, yeah, we gotta take a break.
