SPEAKER_00And joining us is Chris the Design Manager. Is that the name? Design Manager.
SPEAKER_02I think they call me the general manager or something like that. Okay. I have so many hats I can't keep up with.
SPEAKER_03Put them together as a general design manager. There you go. So being a general general of design.
SPEAKER_00Ah, I love it. General of Design. El Generale. Okay, here he is. Chris has spent some time in my home trying to figure out what we're going to do. But you know what? You do this a lot, right? You go and help people figure out their say, can this happen here?
SPEAKER_02Oh, every day.
SPEAKER_00And that's what a lot of people are trying to do. I mean, they're either trying to age in place, they're trying to add that feature they always wanted, um, or you know, that extra bath, whatever it may be.
SPEAKER_02Normally the uh we get the phone call and I've started the phone call is hey, um, I need someone to come over and tell me what I can do or can't do, and everything. And that's a big part of our job because there's some things that, you know, I would love to be able to do for some clients, but it it's just can't happen and all that. Yeah. But uh there's a lot of things we can take their dream and make it a reality, you know. So that's what we really push for is be able to do what the clients want and make their dreams into realities and everything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we were uh looking at the new house we just got and we saw a staircase, and so Javi's like, I've seen where they go under the staircase and they make something out of that space. And I was like, Well, the Revive the Hive guys can figure it out. So um, yeah.
SPEAKER_02My wife would call that the Harry Potter nutch or something. I don't know what she calls it. Yeah, something like that.
SPEAKER_00There's a lot of ideas there. Okay, so um we've talked about how Revive the Hive has a home builder's license. So you're basically licensed to build a whole entire home, an extension, or any type of renovation.
SPEAKER_02We are, and we're expanding so much now and everything. It's really neat how, and a short process I've been with the company since a year now, of how much we've expanded and everything. You know, we went from just having a warehouse, now having a showroom, to now doing additions, and our projects are just getting bigger and bigger, and we're excited. You know, we're truly blessed. You know, great support from uh 94.5 and you and Mr. Nick and everything, and our clients, especially the ones that listen to your show. Oh, they're great people and everything that we do.
SPEAKER_00I heard you're doing uh the lieutenant colonel's house.
SPEAKER_02We are, we are doing a lieutenant colonel. That's a little uh ner nerve-wracking and everything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's I think he's taller than you.
SPEAKER_02He is, but very nice guy, you know.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. Um, one of the things that people love around here, despite the 119 degree heat, are fireplaces.
SPEAKER_02That's a very big thing right now. I always laugh, you know. We had the other day 108 heat index and everything, and hey, let's go think about a fireplace.
SPEAKER_00But but uh no, we've actually we do know it gets cold here.
SPEAKER_02It does get cold at very short period of times, but it does happen. But uh we've actually teamed up in Caym Diller's A Regency Fireplaces, phenomenal group with number one builder uh for fireplaces in the nation and everything. They offer anything from gas, electric, pellet. It's really neat, everything they offer. And then we've also been taking the ball of fat and running with it, and we've did some gorgeous fireplaces where we'll do build-outs with shiplap and everything, do a modern rectangle fireplace, and it just looks gorgeous in people's homes and everything on that.
SPEAKER_00Now, what if okay, so what if you don't have natural gas? Like, how does it work? Now, how do you determine what kinds of all the ones you mentioned?
SPEAKER_02Wood, gas, gas, it depends on clients' needs. You know, you know, some people just want it for the ambiance, you know. Hey, I just want something that can flip on in the evening and everything, add a little heat in the air and everything just to break the cold and all that. It just re really depends on the client's needs, what they're asking for on it. You know, the electricals are great. You know, uh, you can sit there and turn them on and it grays again it gives you a great look to the house and everything on it. You can turn the heater on and they got blowers installed on them, so it takes a chill out of the air. You know, if you want something that's actually going to uh heat up a room and everything else, that's where you want to look at natural gas or propane and everything on it. We don't do the uh gas part, but we have partners that we work with that do that for us. But we do everything else, install the fireplace and all that and ensure it's in working order for you.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Uh the budget blinds text line is open, 843-798-talk, 798-8255. Do we have any questions so far, Nick? Not yet. Okay. All right. One of the things I wanted to ask about is uh people are putting these uh fireplaces outdoors, creating a space like that. Is that something you guys do as well?
SPEAKER_02I mean, we uh team up with uh Beachlandscape to kind of create those kind of things. Beachlandscape's phenomenal. They do a lot of exterior stuff that work with us on those kind of things. We like them. Yeah, they're a phenomenal group and everything. We get to work with them and uh create the atmospheres that people want outside a fireplace, uh sitting area, that kind of stuff.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And the thing is is that uh people are wanting to even put these in their bedrooms.
SPEAKER_02Oh, the bedrooms. I wanted for someone to come up and say, I would like to put one in my bathroom, please. You know, just so I can flip it on when I get out of the shower and it warms up in the bathroom.
SPEAKER_00If they had one small enough, they have them small.
SPEAKER_02I mean, uh I'm just waiting for that one client to come up and says, Hey, I want one of these in my bathroom.
SPEAKER_00So, in your relationship with Regency Fireplace, uh, what have you learned about fireplaces that you didn't know before?
SPEAKER_02Oh my.
SPEAKER_00Because I'm sure you've gone through some kind of educational process.
SPEAKER_02Uh every every day I learn something new. I always tell people, you you'll never hear me say, I know everything. Yeah, my wife will tell you that. You know, but my 19-year-old says, I know nothing. So, but uh, I mean, the great thing about the wood and the gas, you know, there's so many different technologies out there. They got these lighting and uh the electrical one's kind of cool because you can hook it up to these lights that go behind your TV and it does all those lighting effects and everything. Oh, they do all kinds of crazy things now.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, and you don't know what you don't know. So how do you help people decide or I mean learn about the different products?
SPEAKER_02The biggest thing is educating them, like I educate myself. We go over, you know, what are the needs, go down the list and everything else. Well, I want something to be able to heat up my living room. Okay, well, then we might want to look at some of the unit that has more BTUs to it where it can warm up the space and everything, or I want something that I can football on when I'm entertaining, it changes colors and does all this. You know, the biggest thing is just listen to the client and see what they want and what their needs are for it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And and there are, like you said, so many different choices. I I am wondering, um there are people that want this to work when there's no power.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the the gas ones are great for that because they have the pilots already installed on them. So you can just sit there and keep the pilot light will stay on, you know, and then the power goes out and you just turn on a gas and it'll just keep going, you know, without electricity and everything. So you can heat your home and uh do stuff with that.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Now, do you need a chimney? Like what happens?
SPEAKER_02So especially if you're near or newer homes that don't have chimneys and everything, your gas ones will have to have some kind of exhaust where you vent them out. And uh there's different ways where that you don't need a traditional chimney. You can actually vent it out of the side of the wall now. So if you have an exterior wall that doesn't have a fireplace, you can actually put a vent going to the outside so it vents out and everything. Because you never want to put uh a traditional gas fireplace. Now they do have newer ones where they're called uh ventless, and it's really cool because they have a recirculator built into them and they recirculate the gas and everything else so it keeps the air clean, so it's not put in a home. But you still want to have a carbon monoxide detector in your house and everything, just like you would uh regular fireplaces.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and that's an interesting point because I didn't realize that early on, and uh I did put one in because um you know it's just about safety precautions. Now, what about the part where if you need a propane tank?
SPEAKER_02So the propane tank, we do team up with uh other uh client or other vendors that help us with that one on because some people they don't want to, you know, there's a lot of neighborhoods that don't offer natural gas or propane in the neighborhood. So they would bring uh like a hundred-gallon propane tank to your house, bury it in the somewhere in a yard in a safe location, and then run the lines inside. So that's definitely stuff, especially somebody's homes that don't have that option where you have natural gas. A lot of your new neighborhoods, they're starting to do that, but your older ones, they don't have them ran into it. So you most of your gas companies will come out and bury the tank for you and then run the lines inside, and then we hook up off of them.
SPEAKER_00Okay. All right. Um now when you uh have someone call in, what is the process of getting this um consultation, whether it's for fireplaces or or something else?
SPEAKER_02Shower kitchen, anything like that. I mean, the biggest thing is they call in and it always starts the same, I have a project. And then what we do is we go ahead and I set up an estimate in the system, we kind of discuss a little bit about the project then. Uh set up a date where I come out and take a look at it. Either me or John will come out there and take a look at it. And then uh we'll sit there and it's easier when you're in a customer's home because then you can see what their vision is. And then we'll go through the whole thing of designing it for them, picking out product, making a quote for them just so we can get everything ready for them and get a decision made on it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Now, with the fireplaces, do you also do the computerized renderings of that?
SPEAKER_02I can do the yeah. You know me in the 2020 program. I'm always designing something, but yeah, I have done a few fireplaces and everything where we'll lay them out and give them a good idea of what it would look like on it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because sometimes you would say, I what if what if we put it in the corner? I mean, do people get corner fireplaces? Can you do that? Do they have?
SPEAKER_02You can get them. Very rarely I ever do them. Usually it's like you got a big wall, a 20-foot wall, that someone's like, I want a fireplace right in the middle of it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay. All right. We have a question on the budget blinds text line, 843-798-talk, 7988-255.
SPEAKER_04Let's switch from fireplaces to windows. Can you replace builder grade windows with higher quality windows like Pella?
SPEAKER_02Yes, you can. Uh, you uh, I mean, the nice thing about windows, especially? Yeah, we do that. Uh, because your builder grade has a nail flange and we'll go to a replacement window where it doesn't have it. So we'll cut the existing window out, put the new one in, insulate it, and uh you're good to go on it.
SPEAKER_05All right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we've done quite a few windows and everything. John was actually making fun of me the other day, going, man, you know, we never did so many doors until you came on board.
SPEAKER_00There you go. Um, all right. So, and uh we just actually um have a partnership starting with Window World.
SPEAKER_02Really? Yeah. Oh, that's cool.
SPEAKER_00Maybe you guys uh we can I like hooking up, you know, family.
SPEAKER_02Window World's a uh, you know, a good company. I actually personally used them for my house many years ago and everything. My wife and I moved in our house. Oh, they're really good. Uh they came out. Uh the cool thing they offered was the hurricane fabric that you put over to windows instead of putting to plywood and everything. I thought that was the coolest thing ever. Haven't had a hurricane yet to try it, but yeah, I think it was you know, a good thing for me. So but because you have it, you won't need it. Exactly. Yeah, that's usually reverses.
SPEAKER_00Every time I bought snow boots in New York, it didn't snowed. So I knew it was a good thing.
SPEAKER_04It didn't work in Wisconsin. I bought a snowblower and used it every season.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, um, and I was telling you, Elevators Plus is coming on board too. So all of these great companies that have come together um on this show.
SPEAKER_02So I I love to see uh some, you know, some kind of we always looking forward to a team up of other vendors and everything, especially family-owned ones like ours. And it's a great, a great relationship.
SPEAKER_00It's a different understanding.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. It's not uh I did many, many years in uh uh corporate retail, and boy, it it's a totally different experience being out in a family-owned business.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely. And um, and that's uh that's what we're dealing with here is we find that there's just a lot of great run family-owned businesses like yours. And I like you were saying, working for it is different. Yes, it's definitely different. In fact, you have a job opening still? Did you fill it yet?
SPEAKER_02Uh no, we haven't filled it yet and everything. Yeah, we we're still looking for a field installer and everything. Uh we're growing so fast and everything. We need people in the different areas and all that, but we're definitely looking for field installers right now.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. Okay. And so um, and if someone's interested in in getting more information about that, you can uh go to revive the hive sc.com, click the contact button, um, and I guess uh reach out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you can reach out that way. And we're also on Facebook too. We uh have a uh link on there where you can apply on Facebook too.
SPEAKER_00Oh, great, okay, yeah. And and all the pictures. Um, so what is the most recent job you've just completed?
SPEAKER_02Oh my word, what is it? Uh we definitely did uh Miss Layla, we completed her fireplace, which it turned out phenomenal. I did some electrical work for her.
SPEAKER_00Any pictures of that yet?
SPEAKER_02Uh we we've been so busy, and I know we've been kind of slack putting pictures on Facebook. I know uh John put a window installation one we did the other day that turned out really good. Uh, but we got so much going on. We got bathroom models going on right now. We got a huge kitchen remodel we're about to get into in a few weeks and everything. It's just a really exciting time for us.
SPEAKER_00Ah, here we go. Yes, we do windows. Look at that. Yep, exactly. All right. Well, thank you so much, Chris. Uh, any other parting thoughts? You gonna be at the home show?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes, we'll be at the home show.
SPEAKER_00Are you already gearing up for that?
SPEAKER_02I already gearing up. We've got uh our booth, we're gonna have our kitchen, we're gonna have our shower, we're gonna uh do a fireplace display and everything. We're excited. We love doing a home show, get to meet so many future clients and everything and see our past clients, but also hang out with the vendors and have fun for a weekend.
SPEAKER_04So we'll come see you. Yep.
SPEAKER_02Can you make us breakfast in your kitchen? No, Mike, why we'll just do that. What would you like? All right. We'll go ahead and take your order now, Mr.
SPEAKER_00Nick. All right. Well, thank you all so much. Um, ReviveTheHiveSc.com. Check them out online and invite Chris over and he'll tell you whether it can be done or it has to be done some other way.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. You can make your dreams come true. All right, and you can get a computerized drawing of what the finished product will look like before you, you know, decide to take the plunge. It helps a lot. Revive the hive sc dot com.
