"God Is Our Safety" | Psalm 46 | Roman Saward

In this sermon on Psalm 46, Roman explores how God is our ultimate refuge in a chaotic world. While fear and loneliness often drive us to seek safety in our own strength, the Gospel reminds us that through Jesus, we are never alone or helpless. Because the Lord of Heaven's Armies is with us, we can stop our striving and find true rest in His power and protection.

1. Roman used the metaphor of Dunkirk to describe feeling "unsafe." What are the specific "wars" or "mountains falling into the sea" in your life right now that make you feel vulnerable or overwhelmed?

2. We often feel unsafe because we believe we are alone, helpless, or unprotected. Which of these three lies do you struggle with most, and how does it manifest in your daily anxiety?

3. Psalm 46:1 calls God a "very present help in trouble." How does the reality of Jesus being *with* you—made possible through the Gospel—change the way you view your current circumstances?

4.  What "weapons" (control, perfectionism, overworking, etc.) are you currently using to try and create your own safety? What would it look like to "be still" and lay those weapons down this week?

5. Roman reminded us that because of Christ's victory, we have already won. How does knowing the "end of the story" help you find peace in the middle of your current "battle"?
