From Students to Presidents: Factors that Contribute to University Success
Moderated by Wendy Troxel from the NACADA Center for Research; Guests include Dr. Rebecca Hapes from Texas A&M University and Dr. Locksley Knibbs from Florida Gulf Coast University. In this episode we explore two mixed method studies, highlighting Dr. Hapes’ dissertation, “Thriving In STEM: A Mixed Methods Approach to Describing, Comparing, and Analyzing Factors that Contribute to First-year Student Thriving in a Rigorous STEM Major at a Tier One Institution” and Dr. Knibbs’ dissertation, “Characteristics, Attributes, and Qualifications Public Institutions of Higher Education Seek in Presidential Candidates.” Implications for academic advising are discussed, as well as reflections on the personal and professional journeys of scholar-practitioners.
