The Eight-Step Promise

SPEAKER_00

The eight-step plan that can change your life and help you get the results that you want. Hello and welcome to the Property Unleash podcast. With me, your host, Mart Fitzgerald. It's great to have you joining me here today. So, what I want to go through today is a technique that I use on a very, very regular basis with any goals that I'm setting. Why? Because it really has helped me to achieve the goals that I'm looking to achieve. Now, we might have different goals for different areas of our lives. We could have them for our property investing, we could have them for our personal circumstances, we could have them if we're trying to get fitter or anything that we're doing. This eight-step plan will work beautifully for you if you are trying to reach goals or you're finding that you're a little bit stuck. So the eight steps in themselves, we're going to cover each step individually and really help you to work out how you can achieve the targets that you want. I had our first 2026 inner circle mastermind session, and the attendees here, we went through this exact exercise with them step by step in the room, and we help them to really get clarity on their goals so that they know the next steps that they need to take to get the results that they want. And I'm going to share that with you today. So I'm going to take you behind the turn behind the curtain, if you like, in my inner circle, so that you can do the same in whatever it is that you're trying to achieve. So what I want you to do first and foremost is if you're listening to this podcast and you're driving, you will not be able to do this. But what you can potentially do if you're sat down, you've got a pad and pen in front of you, then you may be able to pause this episode to work your way through it. So let's get started, shall we? So at step one, we are going to look at crafting your vision. So what I would like each and every one of you to do is to write down up to 10 goals you want to accomplish over the next 12 months. This is so that you've got a clear vision of the year ahead. Now keep this nice and simple. If you can't think of 10 goals and you've only got three, then just write down three goals. But you need to write it down. You can't just have the goals in your head. You need to put them on a piece of paper or a notepad or whatever you've got in front of you. And you want to be asking yourself, what is pushing you to do this? What is pushing you to reach these goals? Are you self-driven? Are you looking to build something of your own? A property business, maybe? Maybe you're doing this or you want to achieve this goal for somebody else. Maybe you just want to be wealthy, maybe you just want to have more time freedom. Ask yourself these facts as you're looking at your goals, and of course, you're writing those down. Then, step two, we are going to work on identifying the most important goal from your list. So, what we are gonna actually use is the magic wand focus. Sounds a bit hocus pocus, doesn't it? You see what I did there, but no, this stuff really, really works. Stick with me, stick with me. So the next thing that I want you to do now is I want you to look down at your list of goals and think if you could wave a magic wand right here, right now, and that goal, that target that you want to reach would be hit tomorrow. Which out of that list, and you can only pick one, which of those goals would you love to have tomorrow? Because that is your most important goal, potentially, and normally is. When I do this, it normally is the most important goal that I want to achieve. So that's the goal that we should be focusing on first, and this should then be our main focus, okay? Why? Because that reflects our true desire. If we could have it tomorrow, wave a magic wand, wake up tomorrow and that goals achieved, brilliant stuff. So, what I now want you to do, step three, is I want you to write down that goal separately, move it away from the other goals. You want to really put it on a new page or something like that, but this is your main focus declaration. We are saying to ourselves, this is the most important goal to us right here, right now, and we are looking to achieve this. So by now, we could all have a lot of different things that we want to achieve, a lot of different avenues or strategies that we want to be doing. What we have to do is get clarity and have direction in our approach if we're ever going to have a chance of achieving that. Because we need to commit fully to that goal. We need to also declare it to ourselves, self-declaration that we are going to achieve this. Because if we have self-doubt, and trust me, we will have self-doubt at times, we need to be able to push through that. We need to follow systems, we need to take the actions, and we need to make sure that we're tracking our progress as well. It's all too easy to get caught in the weeds of the day-to-day and miss the fact that we're trying to move ourselves forward. And you've got to remember that there is a fundamental fact in all of this that rhythmic activity always comes before rhythmic results. So you have to take specific actions on a day-to-day basis to make sure that you're going to get the results that you want. So, right now, we've got some goals on a piece of paper, and you might do this for your second goal, might be the second most important goal. If you could wave a magic wand and you can have it not achieved tomorrow, maybe the next day, what would that be? You can number those goals and list them out. But right here, right now, fundamentally keeping it simple, we've got your main focus, your main goal for the next 12 months. Now, step four is all about deadlines and committing to those deadlines. We need to look at setting realistic deadlines for achieving our main goal, determining how long it'll take and what it will require. So I want you now to really have a look at that goal and think to yourself, what is the deadline that I can give this? And make the deadline realistic. Don't say next week, if you're trying to get yourself 10 properties, it's not gonna happen next week. Let's be realistic because all we'll do otherwise is demoralize ourselves because we won't be able to achieve it. But I want you to really have a think about this. And you could say, right, in 12 months, I want to have replaced my corporate wage through the property income that I'm gonna generate through my business. Okay, that's brilliant. It's a feasible goal. Then we can roll that back. How many properties will that take? Obviously, then we can look at that in months. How many deals do I need to get each and every month to make this goal attainable? And that's what we're all about here. So, step five is all about then the action mapping. We've got to then start to list all the necessary tasks that you need to complete to reach your goal using the tools that you have at your disposal. And I'll tell you one of the best tools that you'll ever have at your disposal is post-it notes. What you can do is grab yourself a pack of post-it notes, start writing on those post-it notes the tasks that you think you need to do to move yourself forward. Why? Because sometimes if we list things, we don't get them in the right order. Whereas if we get an A4, A5 piece of paper, we put in stick these post-it notes to them, then we can look at the tasks. We can move the post-it notes around to make sure that we're doing the tasks in the best possible order that we want. And that leads into step six, which is prioritizing and structuring your tasks. We have to organize that task list by importance. Deciding which actions are most critical for achieving the goal that you've just set. Now, the number of tasks is important because I like to number them of importance. So the really important ones are going to be your number ones. They're the things that have to get done for this to happen. Then you're going to look at what's left, and you might be able to then say, well, there's some number twos here. These need to be done, but they could be done at any time. And then that normally leaves what I like to say are the number threes, and these are the ones that will get them done at any point. And predominantly they go on, we never do them. But we've got to make sure we're doing those ones and potentially twos, twos we might be able to outsource. But step six is all about prioritizing those tasks so that we know the ones that we've got to do. Step six is ver step seven, sorry, is very important. It's about taking decisive action by scheduling those tasks, setting deadlines and holding yourself accountable to those tasks that you're looking at achieving. So what you've got to do now is take decisive action and schedule time in your diary to actually make things happen. Setting those deadlines and hold yourself accountable or get somebody else to hold you accountable to those deadlines. Step eight then is building the daily disciplines to put into place to make sure that this happens. Saying you're going to do it and just writing it down isn't enough. You have to commit to doing something every day that contributes towards your goal. It will foster a real healthy habit, make you sure that you're on the right path, getting consistent progress. Share what you want to achieve with friends, family, people that can hold you accountable. We do it in our online community, ETA. We hold each other accountable to getting the best results possible. And remember, the best way to set goals is to identify them, write them down, put a date and a time and a deadline on when they need to be achieved so that you can make sure that you're on track or off track. List any obstacles that you might have to overcome. List any groups of people or contacts that you need to actually start reaching out to to help you achieve your goals. Maybe there's power team members, maybe there's people that you need to just help and assist you. If you need any skills or more knowledge, then what do you need to learn? Who can help you to achieve that? Who can help you to learn that? And then put together and craft your own action plan. List the benefits of the achievements as you're going. So as you achieve things, make sure you're ticking them off, make sure you're celebrating the small wins, and make sure that you stick to your own action plan. So the eight-step plan was step one was crafting your vision. Step two was having a magic wand focus. Step three was your main focus declaration. Step four was those deadlines and commitments. Step five is action mapping. Step six is your priority structuring. Step seven is all about taking action. And step eight is having those daily disciplines. Remember, tomorrow does not start until the day ends, i.e., plan out tomorrow before you get there. Commit to doing something every day, and you will reach those goals that you're setting yourself. The compound effect is massive, massive here. And I believe in you, believe in yourself, get out there and take action. And if we can help and support you, then do check out the propertyunleash.com where we have free tools and resources. I have my property online community where I can help and support you, along with my power team members that can do the same. And we will all strive to better things during 2026.
