Show Notes

When challenged by Saul about his qualifications and capacity to take on the giant Goliath, David talked about his experiences as a shepherd.   In caring for his father’s sheep he not only learned to recognize and care for their needs for food and water and rest.  He also learned to recognize the threats to their safety.  He needed courage and strength and God’s protection to act against those threats while he was alone in the wilderness.  He had an unwavering trust in God’s presence and protection in times of need.

Scripture: 1 Samuel 17:12-15, 32-37, John 10:11-18

Even though the scriptures tell us that David was a man after God’s own heart, we also find that he made some significant mistakes along the way.  However, when confronted with his sin, he always turned back to God and has become an example of true repentance and faithfulness for us.  In this sermon series we will be doing a character study of David and apply insights from his life to our own walk of faith.
