Hello and welcome to our next episode of the current series of Relaxing Piano Playlist with your host James Quinn here at the piano, thank you very much for joining me. In this episode you will hear a number of pieces ranging from a wide variety of composers stretching from the Romantic into the 20th century periods.

The first piece you will hear comes from a new composer added to the series by the name of Ignace Paderewski and the piece you will hear will be his Nocturne in B Flat, which comes from his Opus 16.

The next piece comes from a new composer again, this time Johannes Brahms and the piece in particular is his Intermezzo in E Major from his Opus 116 as part of his later piano works.

The next piece comes in the form of the Russian composer Alexander Scriabin and the piece you will hear is his Etude in C Sharp minor and this is one of his earliest works composed for the piano, and is also one of the most well loved.

The next two pieces come from the 20th century. The first one is in fact an arrangement of a song originally composed by John Dowland “O Now I needs must part”. This is another arrangement by the Australian pianist and composer Percy Grainger.

And finally, we have a piece from the French composer, Claude Debussy and you can’t go wrong with this one. It is of course his classic piece, Claire de lune from his Suite Bergamasque.

So to recap, here is the order once more: Nocturne in B Flat from Op.16 by Paderewski, the Intermezzo in E major from Op.116 by Brahms, Scriabin’s Etude in C Sharp minor, Percy Grainger’s arrangement of "O now I needs must part" by John Dowland, and finally the Clair de lune by Claude Debussy.

So sit back, relax, and I hope you all enjoy the music. Thank you.
