Well, it's official. You're back. Uh well, that too. Uh but I've uh had a snow shovel out uh here at the end of May. Why? Because the bears ripped apart every single bag of garbage this morning. So as I'm rushing to get out the door, I'm like, well, there's only one way to do this, and I grab the snow shovel. Oh and then I pass the garbage man on the way out. I'm like, are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_01I worry about that because we just set up, and by we I mean Zach, set up a bird feeder, and apparently it attracts bears, and I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_00I know it'll get the deer out.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I don't think they're gonna climb my fence. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00Never mind.
SPEAKER_01But a bear would. Would it? Climb my fence? Yeah. They can climb a tree. Yeah, but do they climb fences? I assume so. I never thought about this. If they wanted something bad enough, I feel like they would.
SPEAKER_00Well, and you know, dining at the Payne residency. It's some fine dining for the bearers.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I'm learning so much about bird watching that I probably don't care about at all. But anyway. But you're getting it. But I'm getting it. So they they eat this thing called suet, I think. And it like literally smells like buttholes.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes, that's for the birds, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yes, so that's where I think the bears could come in.
SPEAKER_00I mean they might. They're gonna probably take the easier path of going for garbage before scaling, you know, a fence. But I mean, it's anything's possible.
SPEAKER_01Of course, I'm worried about little baby junior. Oh, well you know, making sure that he doesn't get ate by a bear.
SPEAKER_00Now, let's think about that for a second. Junior can take seven steps before he has to nap for 12 hours. Which makes him per prime target. Uh yeah, but he's got to get from the door to where the bear would be. The bear's not gonna charge him. He's gonna look at Junior and be like, well, that ain't tender meat anymore.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_00We're done.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. As a matter of fact.
SPEAKER_00A little gamey at this point.
SPEAKER_01Oh, my little baby.
SPEAKER_00Oh, poor little guy, a little rubbery.
SPEAKER_01Um how was it being off for how long ago?
SPEAKER_00Oh, God. I we with third Friday, uh I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Um Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Five days.
SPEAKER_00How was that? Oh, horrible. Uh because I all I can say is Gavin and Lydia need to go back to school before they end up. I mean, I almost had the cops in my house for two kid murders because those two first of all, the problem we had is as you know, it rained starting Friday night, all Saturday, most of Sunday, then all of a sudden, like the heat kicked on, you know. So it was this miserable weekend where there just wasn't that much to do. So anytime they had time together, there was about six minutes before that was it almost an assassination of each one. Yeah. Liddy ended up going to her uh one of her girlfriend's house houses for a sleepover. That's for the best. Uh that was it, that saved a lot. I took Gavin to see The Mandalorian. Oh uh was it? You know, it it could have honestly just gone right on Disney Plus.
SPEAKER_01I played a listener yesterday who went to and said the same thing. They said it wasn't that great. They said, Why didn't this just go to streaming? Right.
SPEAKER_00It was it was not a I mean, here's the thing it just didn't have the full Star Wars y vibe. You know, you didn't have the lightsabers. It was a good movie, don't get me wrong, but it really could have gone right to Disney Plus. Yeah, they were trying to.
SPEAKER_01And it would have been fine. They're trying to squeak every dollar out of you. Every dollar. Yeah, because going to the movies isn't cheap anymore.
SPEAKER_00I mean, not that it has been in like, you know, 30 years, but for the two of us, it was close to 70 bucks by the time we got tickets, by the time uh uh we got popcorn. Come on, you know, it's not when I bring my own bucket of popcorn.
SPEAKER_01Sneak a Snickers in your pocket.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh. But it was fun, so we did that. Pedro hot hot as hell.
SPEAKER_00Uh only one scene where he got his helmet off and he threatened that he goes, the only way that I can save my honor is to kill all of you. And I'm like, okay, Pedro, well that's nice. And here we go.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Uh no, it it was fine. It was good. I enjoyed it. Not worth 70 bucks, it sounds like you know, I pay the subscription, it would have been okay. Uh-huh. You know, I just didn't have that Empire Strikes Back vibe, or you know what I mean? The real big one. Anyway, that was that. And then what happened?
SPEAKER_01More Pedro. Uh soccer practice Monday last night.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, more Pedro. So that was the weekend. Oh, and we cleaned the hell out of the house. Oh my god. We still have more to go, but this had not been done in so long. Like, you know, you you do what you can do as you go along.
SPEAKER_01This you're not gonna get Rome wasn't built in a day.
SPEAKER_00That's exactly it. Well, Rome's gonna take a couple weekends because we got to get back and do a little more upstairs, but downstairs just clean the heck out of it. Oh, tell me more. Uh it was it was good. I'm kidding. Right. I well, I mean, you wanted excitement. I finally fired up the smoker yesterday.
SPEAKER_01All right, there we go. There's the excitement that I'm looking for.
SPEAKER_00Made some chicken on the smoker. Any any leftovers? Yeah, actually, I could run back and grab some in a little while. Yeah, I get it. I made uh uh like a split chicken.
SPEAKER_01Oh, which is so weird. That's one of those things that I rarely order at a restaurant because if there's to fight the bones outside in public. Well, when it's uh when it's barbecue, you go for the brisket or the ribs or something like that. But when I do get a chicken, well, first of all, when I get a fireman's barbecue chicken, yes.
SPEAKER_00Yes, but mine's not so dry, it's like you bite into it and it's dust.
SPEAKER_01Ain't that the truth sometimes? Sometimes they can be a little dry. You never know, because they're they're pumping out too many. Water.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01What'd you do? Chicken juice! Chicken!
SPEAKER_00What did you do over the weekend?
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh. First, we started, and I mentioned this a little bit yesterday. We started at Ports on Friday, which is that restaurant up in Geneva. Oh, yeah. You have to get a reservation, but you have to go there. It was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Do you like mussels?
SPEAKER_00Not really. That's the one thing I'm not a fan of.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh, these were the best mussels I've ever had. And then they specialize in steak.
SPEAKER_00So I got the Okay, now you're talking.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I got the hanger steak. Zach got the flank steak, and mine had chimichuri on it. Oh my gosh, it was so, so good.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it does sound pretty good.
SPEAKER_01That's what that's what we did. Although he's such a nervous Nelly about getting to our reservation on time. I made the reservation at five. Why did I make it at five? Like, that's so early, right?
SPEAKER_00Closer to 80, then you're not anymore.
SPEAKER_01I know, but it still takes over an hour to get there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I'm trying to rush home, get ready, and then on the way there, we realize we have 20 minutes. We stop at a winery and we're like, we gotta suck this glass of wine down. Oh my gosh, it was hilarious. And he's like, like hyperventilating, we're not gonna make it to our reservation. We made it in right on time. It was 4 59 that we got there. But I here I am, I'm like, we're fine. He's like, how can you be fine? We're not gonna make it to our reservation. Three more wineries? No problem. You're gonna have a panic attack over a reservation. He's like, but it's so hard to get in. And I'm like, okay, settle down. It's like hardcore fine dining.
SPEAKER_00I love it.
