We had already started the show with a lot. We were talking about how uh it was a very pretty morning this morning. Very bright though. I had to put down the uh you know the the flapper on the uh uh on the windshield as I was driving down the hill. I'm like, man, that's like blinding. Um we obviously talked about, you know, why a house cleaning project only creates bigger, like never-ending like you th you're like, I'm gonna take Saturday. We're gonna clean all day Saturday, which ends up becoming how was it on Wednesday yesterday all day was laundry changing beds.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, wasn't this part of the big cleanup? Like, is it never an over with project? Not really, because I also think the same thing about just I mean other little things that I'm doing around my house. And we were even talking about putting a bathroom in my basement, and I'm like, you know, I'm gonna get there. Rome wasn't built in a few years. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01That's an I'm gonna get there project.
SPEAKER_00Oh, totally. But even with the yard, I was like, I'm not gonna do all of this in a day. Like I want to, but I'm not.
SPEAKER_01No, no. And you know what caused this problem where you want to do it all in a day, was like shows like Property Brothers and stuff like that, where, oh, look, in an hour I have a brand new house. Yeah. Not at all the way contracting works.
SPEAKER_00Oh, no, definitely not. Because I mean, even just the little bit that I did yesterday after work, I was like, okay, and I'm good.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Thanks.
SPEAKER_00Plenty of extra. Thanks for that. I was like, I'm gonna dig up these stones and I'm gonna move them. I'm like, but not today. No, yeah, right? Gotta get done. Just not today.
SPEAKER_01All right, so you're starting out 54. We're going to about 70 today.
SPEAKER_00That's perfect. Oh, I think that's perfect. I was thinking, should I have turned on the AC? I don't think I need to.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't think you need to now. In fact, I opened some windows today because yesterday was a bit of an AC day.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01I mean, pugs have a tendency to overheat because you know, if it gets to 50.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01So uh they had a little air conditioning yesterday. Today I'm like, no, you're gonna have 70 and sunny. Let the breeze flow.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, absolutely. Last night I ended up rolling up out the windows, rolling out the windows. Right, yeah. Well, I do have to roll out. I do crank it. That's what that was the rolling motion. Yeah. I rolled out the mouth.
SPEAKER_01Apparently, Heather is going to love both of us today because she texted. She goes, I love Scott's technical uh terms. The flapper on the visor. Or in this case, Allie rolling out the windows like it's the red carpet.
SPEAKER_00The little crank window. 3386. Scott, do you leave early today or tomorrow? Oh, that would be today.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, actually, the kids will be around, I think, well, just before eight. And oh, I was checking that. So their eye appointment is in a weego. Oh, we go.
SPEAKER_00Oh. I have a Wigo story, actually.
SPEAKER_01Uh, and uh we have to because nothing can be close. And uh so we So why do you guys go all the way out there? Well, our regular eye doctor that was here retired. Dr. Dave retired, but Lydia, we got recommended there because, well, that's a whole long story. Whether Lydia or not needed some sort of vision therapy, girl has no balance, and they were trying to hawk me a $2,500 package, and I'm like, Oh, for and which included me driving to Owego like three times a week, and I'm like, No. All right, well, we're gonna go today and have this here I appointment, and we're gonna see where we stand now before I commit to that. Stop.
SPEAKER_00All right, do you want to hear the Owego thing?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So after five years, the Owego Fire Department steam fire engine is returning to Tioga County. Oh, wow. Yes, it was built in 1866, and they said it was sent away for restoration five years ago. Now the steam fire engine is the oldest operating engine in the United States. It went to Maine for a new boiler, and then it came back, and it's uh it isn't just for display. They say it's capable of pumping 700 gallons of water per minute.
SPEAKER_01Now something tells me they're not gonna roll that out to a rolling fire, but no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00But how cool is this? Like that is cool. Right, exactly. Um, let me see where it's displayed at really quick since you're gonna be in that area.
SPEAKER_01And if that isn't a fire department project without saying let's do a fire department project, uh-huh, that's it right there. Restoring an 1866 fire truck.
SPEAKER_00The total cost of the project was around $500,000.
SPEAKER_01My God, you could have bought a new pumper.
SPEAKER_00But the the community came together to raise the entire amount. Okay. Uh so let's say it didn't cost taxpayers anything. So while you're in a Wego today, it says the steam fire engine will be housed in the steamer house building on North Avenue, and everyone is encouraged to go and take a look at it. That might be something I mean, your kids are kind of out of that phase. That'd be more like something you would be interested in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know. Uh, but you know, it's a nice story. Right. Okay. I I don't know that I'm gonna do that. I mean, if I was there, you are gonna be there. Yeah, but I'm going there for a purpose and then getting the heck out. Like I gotta get kids back to school. Oh, oh. Oh, this is not a random day of oh no, I'm oh Scott's the slave driver with this. We don't get to take the day off because you have a 9 45 eye appointment. You'll be in school by noon at the latest.
SPEAKER_00How is it that Gail all of a sudden just got cooler than you? Because whenever we would have an early dentist appointment, especially a dentist appointment, there was a couple things that would happen. We would go to the dentist very early. We would either get out of school or not go to school. And then usually we would actually be getting out of school because I remember you'd are there, they'd always be like, Alicia Penn, please report to the office. Alicia Pine, please report to the office. And then afterwards we would go get a strawberry McDonald's milkshake.
SPEAKER_01Oh, after you have those teeth clean, that's a great thing to get. Yeah, it's cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then I just had seven cavities filled. Let's get a milkshake.
SPEAKER_00Right. And then and I don't always a milkshake, which is weird because I never drink milkshakes. But anyway, uh, and then we had the entire day off.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. No, that's not happening. Oh no. Oh no, I don't play that game.
SPEAKER_00We are a slave driver.
SPEAKER_01No, no, you will get some sort of an education.
SPEAKER_00You're not gonna come back to work, are you?
SPEAKER_01Uh well, that depends. I don't know. I might. I mean, it depends how.
SPEAKER_00I have a meeting at one o'clock.
SPEAKER_01Well, there's things I could do. I I could literally do it remotely, but my I guess what it comes down to is how long we're at the eye appointment. Like if we get out, if it's 9 45 and we're wrapped up before 11, uh, these kids are definitely going back to school. I am throwing McDonald's down their throat while we're driving to Dippin' in handy, and then you might see me. Or you might see me online running the computer from afar.
SPEAKER_00So this one came in too. I wish the station would come into my car.
SPEAKER_01It will, guys. They've ordered the parts. We have a transmitter, something rather.
SPEAKER_00A whoosie what's it thing, level?
SPEAKER_01There's a whoosie what's he thing that went wrong. Exactly. More technical terms. Exactly. Let me just ask this question. If you I'm curious from other parents, do you do what I do? You know, you get them back to school, or are you a gale? You're like, no, 9 45, 11 in the morning, you can have the day off. I'm like, no, you do not get the day off. I've already messaged both their teachers reminding them uh they'll be in about noon today. Are you like me or are you uh loosey goosey? Exactly.
SPEAKER_00We don't need to go back. Not today.
