I want to clarify something really quickly here. Uh Betty, you didn't miss anything. Okay. They said she said, Good morning, everyone. She goes, I woke up late today, not knowing what day it was. Oh, see? And I got accused of having a stroke a few minutes ago on the air. It's Wednesday. I missed a lot. You didn't even miss anything. It's on demand. That's exactly right. So here's the thing. If you've missed uh everything from the new seven brew coming to the twin tiers, some Disney bangers hating the smell of campfires. It does sound out of place when you say some Disney bangers. Yes, or maybe wonder what kind of show this is. Or maybe you missed yesterday. Mom needs to stop quoting mean girls, the wrong person in this casket, borrowed it and didn't return it. Find your partner at the grocery store. I mean, there are still- We load you up. We do, we do. What was the vibe 20 years ago when Scott and I started? It's all on demand. Uh so at any rate, I want to clarify something because we've spent a lot of time this morning uh so far talking about the announcement of the Big Seven brew coming, which then turned into a discussion about traffic with uh Chick-fil-A, you know, across the street. They fill potholes and all this stuff. There's big changes coming to the area. And I, you know, kind of half-jokingly uh into the big three, it said, you know, yeah, a bunch of old farts on the board that are sitting there, yeah, we gotta make sure everything's right. Here's the thing. Let me clarify that statement. I understand we're looking and and nobody called and and complained. This is just I I want to be clear on this. Number one, most boards are old. Uh number number two is uh I would like to say well-seasoned. Well seasoned, and you know what? Veterans of the community. There is uh, yeah, but you gotta be careful with that because sometimes that doesn't affect good change. Oh, yes, believe me. Mitch McConnell, who was uh in our government way longer than he should have been. Like, I mean, believe me, the the the time has to come eventually. Like when my parents retired, I think they both knew giving it. It was time to go. Yes. I mean, progress is progress. Some people just don't know it's time to go. Well, and then but then the argument the argument could be made uh that, you know, hey, you know, well then somebody else step in and do that job and nobody wants to. Well, that's possible too. Look, overall, what I'm getting at here is good, I'm glad they're reviewing the traffic patterns, the things like that over in big flats, and and how things are gonna change. And obviously they want to make sure people are safe because you don't want to have the fire department blowing out every day for another accident. And yeah, I mean, I get that sort of stuff, but you have to keep something in mind. I've been here long enough to remember before we had Target and Best Buy and all that stuff, and we were praying for things to come to this area. So the fact that some pretty I'm gonna tell you, hip money-making opportunities for this community are showing up. And of course, I love when the local businesses do it and and you know, add to the community too. But these are uh the ball is rolling, so let's roll this along. Let's not take 17 meetings to get this figured out. Let's do this hunker down, you know, kind of like But I also I'm I'm gonna go on the opposite end because I do logistics for a lot of our events, and I like that they are, and I'm hoping that they're gonna figure out the correct traffic pattern for it. I'm a thousand percent with you. So that's but don't take 17 meetings to do it. This is money for our communities. Yes, absolutely. It's gonna provide jobs. Our economy, I think, is gonna start really booming. Um, first of all, our economy is booming already. People will stop off the highway and visit here for a minute. Right. I mean, and this, as weird as this sounds, we're so lucky that TikTok and Reels has created our our our area destination. Like people come here all the time because they saw, oh my god, look at those beautiful waterfalls. Look at this, that, and the other thing. So, yes, those areas are really booming, but it also, you're right, it has to be the get off the highway stop, too. Yeah. And even us, the comfort of living here. You know, we want these things. I can't. And we're still gonna visit the locals and we're gonna do, you know, the listen, guys, it's all still building jobs. I may get my produce at Wegmans, but I get my made at Minair's. Okay. You know what I'm saying? Yes, yeah, yeah. Well, speaking of that, you were talking about sometimes it's an older generation that they are the only ones on the board. Listen to this. This is a village in in Long Island that they don't have a mayor, uh, mayoral candidate, that is. So there's nobody wants the job. Nobody wants the job. Wow. And they now have the write-in option. So just think of like if all of a sudden I got 10 of my friends to write in Alley Payne, and now I'm your new mayor. Listen to some of the residents talking about this happening right here where they live. It's ridiculous. I've never seen anything like this. Ask them to run for office, they don't want to do it. So they don't pay attention. When you don't pay attention, this is what happens. Get a lot of people writing in people who are not qualified. Some guy comes up there with 50 of his closest friends, he's your mayor. If a hundred people get one write in each, it's a tie. So it's it's a strange situation. Well, yeah, if you walk in with 50 of your friends and nobody else wants the job and they voted for you, that's how it works. You're mayor. I understand that, but you're I think they're right. There are people who have no clue how even to balance the budget for the city. Oh, God, no. That why do you think I don't go into politics? You've heard the math on this show. 3386 has told us numerous times, don't do math. And that's where like the there is a younger generation that has to become invested in their community. And I think you're right. I think a lot of these new businesses that are coming to the area are going to make them care about staying in the area. And and one more point to this we have a motto in our company, although ironically, it rarely gets followed. Oh, what's that? We need to move. You know, you need to make things move. Do not delay and you know, just you've got to take action and move. And if that requires now, I I want it done right now. If you don't fail to plan, you plan to fail. I know. I want it done right. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate that, but I don't understand why it would take four or five meetings to get it done and delay construction and things like that. Sit there, kind of like when the Republicans and Democrats can't figure things out in Congress. Don't we want to take a key, lock them in there, and say no bathroom breaks or pizza until you come to an agreement and you figure it out. And that's what it is, because this is about helping our area grow, get more attractive things. And you know what? One of the this goes even deeper, guys. This goes one step deeper. Our community has an epidemic. Young people flee from it. So and I don't know why. Well, the problem because they see shiny stars in other areas, Buffalo, Rochester, but you don't know what they always come back. Well, eventually, but why do we have to lose them? Let's get some of the things that are gonna keep people here. If it's a train in seven brew. I know it sounds silly, but these are things. You know, uh, it was like this before Home Goods got here. Remember years ago, we were like, could we ever get a Home Goods? No, you can't walk through there without seeing menopause Mary every Sunday. Yep. So, you know, it's these are important things. If we're gonna complain about losing young people the minute they graduate from high school and they're gone for 20 years before they come back, get these things. Do it, get the trampoline park open so parents have options for uh for uh don't get them started on that trampoline park. Well, for birthday parties and stuff like that. You know what I'm saying? I relate to this. So it's like if you want to keep them, you gotta keep the attractive things there. Centertown, or I'm sorry, centertown, uh, the social downtown social centertown social. They're doing something people haven't done. What the boys did at illegal and they continue to do, these are the things, and I know I'm very hyper focused right now in Shimon County. Yes, these are the things that make people want to stay and be here.
