What did I say earlier? I don't want you to see my search history because I can be such a dummy. And I am proving it to you right now by a correction from a listener. Oh. So on the most recent Not For Air podcast, I talked about something with presidents, okay? And you have to go back to the podcast and listen to it. I gave Scott a little bit of a quiz and I talked about who was the president right after Lincoln was shot, right?
SPEAKER_01We kind of fell down a rabbit hole. It was really weird. Although it sounds dull what we're saying. Wow, we're talking about presidents on the podcast. It actually was very funny. Funny and fascinating. It really was because it turned into something, and it's not the whole podcast, but there was this one section where we kind of fell into it and it was like, oh wait, that's gonna lead me to a little quiz question for you in a second.
SPEAKER_00But this is thank you. This is from Ryan. He corrected me. He goes, Allie, something's been bugging me.
SPEAKER_01Okay, here it is.
SPEAKER_00I listened to this week's podcast and haven't listened to the whole episode yet. So I don't know if you corrected yourself, which I didn't, but I'm gonna do it right now.
SPEAKER_01Well, don't tell him that. Let him listen to see.
SPEAKER_00But you asked Scott who took over after Lincoln. You at first said Andrew Johnson, but then misspoke and said Andrew Jackson. You even showed Scott a photo of Andrew Jackson. The reason the two pictures, because in the podcast, I was like, this doesn't look like the guy. Like the this is not the guy that I I saw before that I when I when I uh got this information given to me. And he goes, the reason the two pictures don't look alike is because they're two separate presidents. LOL.
SPEAKER_01That I knew.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, okay. So my bad, I said w one and then I went to the other and looked up the wrong guy.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so basically your brain just okay, so I think that the name Andrew Jackson is pretty known. Yes. Andrew Johnson, not as well known. Exactly. In fact, to be honest with you, I don't even know if he ran after Lincoln was assassinated to see if he could get another term. I don't know. Do you want me to Google it? I mean, you'd have to, because I don't even know that answer. Like, I'm not that deep into presidential history. Uh, but uh, you know, it but everybody knows Andrew Jackson. All on money, I believe.
SPEAKER_00Hold on. Okay, so what? Hold on. Hmm, mm-hmm. It's not giving me the information I'm looking for. It gave me Lyndon B. Johnson.
SPEAKER_01No, that's not that that's definitely not right.
SPEAKER_00Um, okay, no, the answer is if you're retur okay, so I I asked the question and it notated something at the bottom. If you are referring to the 17th U.S. president Andrew Johnson, he also served one partial term. Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_01It's a partial. So he never oh he he never came back around after that.
SPEAKER_00Correct. Is that well it says did not win a subsequent term in his own right? Oh, okay. Now I have a quiz for it.
SPEAKER_01By the way, Andrew Jackson's on the 20.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. Um, I have a quiz question for you. Okay. True, it's a true or false. Has there been a female that tried to assassinate a president? True or false?
SPEAKER_01Yes, and I cannot remember who it is, and I can't remember the president, but the minute you said it, I'm like, I've heard this and I can confidently say yes, and I can't remember who it was.
SPEAKER_00Ryan, if you're listening, I can confidently say yes, it was Gerald Ford. Because I just listened to a podcast about it the other day.
SPEAKER_01Hey, okay, give me a moment.
SPEAKER_00This is a great story. So the woman who's now out of jail, her name is Sarah Jane something. Okay. That's not important right now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but three names, that is.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, yes! Killer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. By the way, thanks for pointing at me.
SPEAKER_00Killer! No, because you don't we both were like thinking the same thing. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Well, three names is like there's a serial killer trend that you have three names.
SPEAKER_00I mean, she wasn't a serial killer, but still a killer. Murder.
SPEAKER_01Attempted anyway.
SPEAKER_00There you go.
SPEAKER_01What was the reason behind why she wanted to off Gerald Ford of all people?
SPEAKER_00Okay, I don't know that answer.
SPEAKER_01But see, now that's interesting because I'm wondering his wife, Betty Ford, you know, is obviously the Betty Ford alcohol clinics and substance clinics. Was she someone that dealt with those um, you know, situations, if you will, and uh, you know, was was ticked off?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. And this is too much. Yeah, but here's what I do know.
SPEAKER_01Here's the rabbit hole again.
SPEAKER_00Right. Here's what I do know of the podcast I just listened to, which I thought was so fascinating. So there was one.
SPEAKER_01Every podcast you listen to about murder is fascinating. And if it's on Netflix, it's three episodes, the perfect length.
SPEAKER_00Listen to this, though. All right. I think you're gonna enjoy this. Okay. So she shoots one shot, misses. Oh, yeah. Shoots another shot, goes to shoot another shot. Okay. Somebody knocks the gun down, right? Oh, sure. It was a guy, a blonde guy right behind her. What happened from that was the guy who knocked the gun out of her hand, he ended up, of course, at first you're you're a sensation, right? You just saved the president. Right. But in that era, he was gay. Well, he still is gay. Well, okay, no, he's dead. Was gay. Was gay, and so they were like, oh, and he was also a Vietnam vet. So the headlines were basically like gay vetes saves president. His family wouldn't talk to him anymore. Oh, wow. He got ousted, and he ended up drinking himself to death. So saving the city.
SPEAKER_01Well, ironic, the Betty Ford Clinic could have saved him.
SPEAKER_00True. But how crazy is it you do something so heroic? And he even told the president, please, please retract all of this. And there's no record that the president called like his mother and his father to say, you know, thanks. Right, exactly. So yeah, so interestingly enough, that the person that saved the president ends up in like a whole world of hurt.
SPEAKER_01It's sad, actually. I now I have to know, and I can't believe you you took out the fact that this guy was blonde that saved the the, you know, knocked the gun out of his hand, but you never heard in the podcast what her motivation was? Okay. Well really curious about that.
SPEAKER_00Are they called an assassinator?
SPEAKER_01Uh assassin.
SPEAKER_00Assassin.
SPEAKER_01Attempted assassin. I guess type in what was the motivation behind the President Ford attempted assassination?
SPEAKER_00Okay, hold on a second.
SPEAKER_01Because I gotta know the reason. Like, what was this lady's deal? Hold on a second. Very tumultuous times, by the way. When Ford was Sarah Jane Moore. Moore.
SPEAKER_00Um Oh gosh. What was Sarah Jane Moore's motive? That's it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, hold on a second. That's gonna take me a second.
SPEAKER_01Will it?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry. He really suckered me back in with his now, damn it.
SPEAKER_00I love this stuff. This like gives me life. During an interview she conducted in 2009, Moore stated that her motive was to spark a violent revolution that would lead to the government. Hold on a second. Shoot. Oh, it just jumped on me. That would lead to the government being overthrown for how they handled the Vietnam War.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_00She was given a life sentence for the attempted assassination, but she was released from prison in 2007 after serving 32 years.
SPEAKER_01I'm surprised they let her back in such a general way.
SPEAKER_00Would you like would you like another question?
SPEAKER_01Sure.
SPEAKER_00Do you think there's been more than one woman to Okay, now this one I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I don't know the answer. Has there been more than one?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Monica Lewinsky.
SPEAKER_00No. Moore and Lynette Squeaky Fromm are the only two women who have attempted to. Listen to this. Are the only two women who have attempted to assassinate an American president? Both attempts on Gerald Ford.
SPEAKER_01Was it both because of the war? I bet you it had to have been.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, I don't think we have time for that rabbit hole. I can go down it. You guys have to go down it yourself. But hold on a second. But the those both assassination attempts took place within three weeks of each other. Does this not sound a little trumpy? Uh yeah, there's a little uh scary. He said supposedly how many assassinations? I think there's been three. I'm kidding, you guys are not.
SPEAKER_01No, no, but that's factual information. That's not, you know, not jokey, it's just true.
SPEAKER_00The word supposedly. I I should retract that. That was I that's a joke. That's a joke. I understand.
