Didn't you kind of think that talk shows were going away? Like Kelly Clarkson just retired. And I thought, are we still watching talk shows?

SPEAKER_02

I don't think they know what to do during the day on television. That's why they're there.

SPEAKER_00

Right, exactly.

SPEAKER_02

You can only watch so much Family Feud. I Although I really can watch a lot of Family Feud. Exactly. That show goes off the rails more than that.

SPEAKER_00

I just think it's so funny when they add a talk show. I'm like, who is watching talk shows? Like I haven't watched a talk show since like my grandma was alive.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and it's like when soap operas were around, you know, and that used to cover all the daytime television. Then they most of them, except for like Days of Our Lives in General Hospital, everything else died.

SPEAKER_00

And when you become the talk show host, do you know that your career is on the downswing?

unknown

I mean.

SPEAKER_00

Or do you feel like you're one of the people that's gonna revive it? I'm gonna tell you why I'm saying this.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know if you're gonna revive it, but there's now it's getting to the point that if you okay, do you remember at the time there used to be a talk show? There was there were so many hosts of the during the day talk shows. Uh-huh. Uh, you know, you had Sally Jesse Raphael. You had Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

In the 90s.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, in the 90s it was huge because it was like 20 of them.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Now there's like three. Well, let me tell you another one.

SPEAKER_02

One of the problems Drew Barrymore is like one of them.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, I know. Well, and I again never watched it. I've seen like a clip as I'm passing through on my algorithm, but I never stay on it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And then even with Kelly Clarkson's, not one time did I ever watch this talk show. I would see a clip. Okay. Remember Montel Williams? Oh, what that's now that's an American treasure.

SPEAKER_02

Now he he is an American treasure, and he got real sick for a while, didn't he? I think he has MS or something.

SPEAKER_00

I think he does. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But the reason I'm saying this is because one of the property brothers is now doing a talk show at Daytime Talk Show on CBS. And I thought, well, a little eye candy for the ladies. Right, but what are you gonna are you gonna talk about improving my home? Like, where are we going with this? Yeah, I don't know. And who's gonna be watching this?

SPEAKER_02

Although you know those guys, they only pick up a hammer for a quick hammer shot of their show. They have personally not rebuilt anything, probably in 20 years since you know their original property brothers and stuff took off.

SPEAKER_00

They probably haven't made anything since they did woodworking class in high school. Right? When my brother came home with the the shelf, he also built a toolbox at one point. Did you ever do this in woodworking?

SPEAKER_02

I never took woodworking.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, my brother did. And it it honestly was it was really cool, don't get me wrong. But then my brother never pursued it. And I think I think once you have it, because he actually came home with some some um, I would say classic pieces. Yeah. I think my mom actually still has both of those things that I just heard. Of course she does. Yes, yes.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, she hands you a tub of your crap, like, get it out of my house, but she'll keep his shoebox.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. But yeah. The shoe polish kit, remember those? Yes. I just think I don't know if this is the best choice for you because talk show hosts is like, hey, how about one foot in the grave of your career?

SPEAKER_02

There is uh there is that thought. I mean, I don't know. I gotta see the pla the uh the format for that too. Like you said, are they gonna throw in little handy things like but then again, there's a smart to that. And hear me out on this. I will. How many women specifically this took off during the pandemic? All right, if you go with traditional ways things were done, most of the time, well, I'm the man of the house, I can do things. Women very much up their skill level of home improvement and then crafting and redoing. I know women that redo uh old furniture and stuff like that. So you you know, this might work if you take, you know, Mr. Handsome pants from the Property Brothers and then you mix in like a light project. Uh well, it was sort of like um you know how uh uh why can't I think of Oprah's friend, the doctor? He's in the government now. Dr. Oz. You know, if you think about it, Dr. Oz did some medical, not 100% the whole way through. This would be one of those things if the women because prime primarily these shows are aimed at women. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

And you Well, I mean, yeah, they picked Jonathan Scott of Property.

SPEAKER_02

You you pick a a couple little projects and you start showing it. It may not be the worst, the worst programming decision.

SPEAKER_00

Is the light projects because he doesn't know how to do anything heavy?

SPEAKER_02

No, no, it's just it's like that's how they spice it up. They'll be like, you know, now ladies, you can refinish this tabletop as well. It's it's easier than you think. Oh my god. So now I'm in. Now I'm in, you know.

SPEAKER_00

So degrading. Like because since I've since I've been in this house in November.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe when I said now ladies was what made it degrading.

SPEAKER_00

So since I've been in this house, I have installed a new garbage disposal, changed out my toilet.

SPEAKER_02

What about Butz's face showing you how to do that on the show? And then interviewing uh, I don't know, uh Leah Mason. Hey, coming up, Leah Mason.

SPEAKER_01

So listen, I've got to change a garbage disposal, and I don't have a damn clue what I'm doing.

SPEAKER_00

That's where the entertainment is. That is. It's seeing uh celebrities really just foober it up. I'm not sure what the word foober is. Fuber is a new one.

SPEAKER_02

I think you meant foobar, but I like foober. No, yeah. It's more of a southern tier way to say it. Hey, what we're gonna do here is foober this up.

SPEAKER_00

Right, exactly.

SPEAKER_01

That's wait a minute, I crossed the blue and the red wire is what you're saying.

SPEAKER_00

And then all of a sudden Liam Neeson's like blown across the room. This would be something we just sold the show. There we go.
