Now, let me clarify one quick thing as we unleash this because you had said you were you were talking about how uh you had to pay your water bill and you're like still gotta go in person. Wish I could just do it online. Now like mine's online. Uh the it's the one thing the Almire water board has done right. They've I get to right online.

SPEAKER_01

Do you get an extra fee for doing it online?

SPEAKER_00

I do not. At least I've not seen that there's an extra fee.

SPEAKER_01

Because apparently Corning's got that extra fee.

SPEAKER_00

Now, I can't verify yes or no, but that spawns me into I'm getting a little sick of the extra fees. Now, I also realize for small businesses, I want to I want you to understand, I realize this is an extra cost for you, but the problem is this is now where this has to change. Do you go to your legislators and you say, you need to take this up the ladder? Because I also understand credit card companies have to make money and do that. Well, maybe, and I don't have the answers, I'm just telling you what I don't like. Maybe if the bill, let's use round numbers. Yeah. If the bill was $10, okay, instead of charging me a fee of $2.40, why not just make it where it just comes off the $10 from the credit card company and then I feel better about it? Because here's the deal I want to I want to frequent your business, or I want to, you know, feel good about using your business, whether it's a smaller business, whether there's no excuse you're a utility company if it's still like that. God, do you do you realize what you're charging customers?

SPEAKER_01

Well, and when you see the detailed charges, that's when you kind of get angry. And I don't want to be angry at a business because I do know this, and this I had even mentioned the amount that these small businesses are paying to the credit card companies are ridiculous. Like this one that came in, they said, as a former small business owner, I paid over six thousand dollars in credit card fees a year.

SPEAKER_00

Unfortunately, and that sucks. Unfortunately, though, we're all feeling it. And if you want to keep getting our business, we've got to find a way to make this better because it's not right.

SPEAKER_01

I like the idea of just rolling it in. Don't tell me, because when we were, we were just at that Chautauqua institution the other day, and I looked at the itemized bill of our hotel room, and it was like, oh, a dining room fee. Uh blah. Yes, that was on there. And I'm like, excuse what the what did you even use it? Um, I guess kind of. Yeah. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

To a hotel, it all is under one umbrella to me.

SPEAKER_01

Right, exactly. And so that's why I I like what you're saying is just put it all in one so I don't become irate over every single nickel and dime.

SPEAKER_00

And everything is so damned expensive. I'm trying to get out and actually, you know, support the economy a bit until it comes back and goes, Well, there's an extra fee for that, you know, for using your card, which is the way we function in society today. Just roll it in. There's just not that many people that carry cash and ain't nobody writing checks unless you absolutely have to.

SPEAKER_01

I do not uh I don't know what this person does as their small business, but 0395 says, small business owner here. I have never charged extra for card use. It's my responsibility to grow with the economy, which is why it's okay to raise the rate a little bit. What let's say you're selling painted eggs. So instead of $5 for a painted egg, it's now $8 for a painted egg. I mean, I would rather have it be this way. Somebody else said, I agree, because most in-person stores don't charge a credit card fee. Well, it depends.

SPEAKER_00

It depends if you're going if it's a bigger store like a Dollar General, which is a big chain, they have the ability to negotiate all that out with the credit card company, or they just roll it in their price. They've adjusted all the prices all through the store that you don't even know that there's the extra that they have to pay.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, this one sa uh pay in seconds is the platform they use, and there's a three percent fee to use it. Yes. Roll it in. Just just bump everything up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I I just it it I'm so sick of extras.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, right, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

I think that's what it is. I'm just sick of the extras.

SPEAKER_01

Just don't tell me. Lie to me. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know that I will be blissfully ignorant and pay you, but not know I'm paying you.

SPEAKER_01

You can ch you can pay me for or charge me for a bag. Whatever, just don't tell me.
