SPEAKER_00Tickets are on sale, tagstickets.com, but we have a pair for you right now. And Father's Day is coming up this weekend.
SPEAKER_01Right in front of us.
SPEAKER_00Do you remember when you were growing up, you were always scared of one of your friends' dads for one reason or another?
SPEAKER_01I remember a couple of dads on uh good old Meadow Lane up in Buffalo. And uh this was where I lived in my very younger years before we moved. So I remember there was a couple, a couple dads really stood out to me. Yes. My dad, first dad on the street to own a Japanese car.
SPEAKER_00Oh, got a Toyota. Were people scared of people? Were your friends scared of Lee?
SPEAKER_01No, but my father had a very intimidating voice. Uh-huh. Very deep. Uh, and just, you know, yeah, he was sounds just like that. Uh so I but I I don't think they were scared of him. Um, but so okay, so my dad was, you know, kind of the trendset, not even a trendsetter, just broke the mold, right? Uh-huh. Then uh I go a couple doors down. Um R.I.P. uh Mark Conley, Kevin's dad. Yeah. Uh still remember his name. He was Mark's dad? Duh. No, Kevin's dad, Kevin's dad, I mean. Yeah. Uh he he he was uh he was the guy you never knew 100% what he did. He was in the business world. Okay. And you never knew 100% what he did, but he he always dressed pretty well. Okay. Um and but they had a boat, and you enjoyed a cocktail or four. And you know, so he was this man of business and man of leisure, right? So that was that was him. Not scared of him. Now, the one that really was slightly scary, there were potentially two. Okay. So uh I cannot remember their last names, but across the street and down the road a little bit was the crazy family. Now, these are the these were the kids were a lot of them young in the 70s or even in the 60s, so they had it all. They had the rebuilt dirt bike that you were you know, they had a car on cinder blocks. I swear to god, this is a residential neighborhood. And beaver dams. Yeah, but this was like this was the family that had it all, did all sorts of crazy things. I swear they put a dirt mound in their front yard so they could use that homemade dirt bike, right? I mean, this was like this was the dad. Clearly, the father must have been like in the Korean War, knew how to make stuff out of a broomstick and an old lawnmower engine, right? Okay. So, you know, it was they were almost deadly. But then across the street was my friend Ashley and her dad. Her dad was ahead of us.
SPEAKER_00Uh a girl's dad.
SPEAKER_01Yes. He was now at that age, we were all, you know, young. We didn't, you know, nobody was eyeballing anybody for anything. Right, you're just young and dumb. Yeah, you're just all friends, you're playing. And uh her dad was an intimidating figure because I remember he looked like Bigfoot. He was a huge guy. It wasn't that he was scary when he talked, just looking at him. I don't think I ever saw him smile. He had a big beard way before beards were popular. And I swear to God, I think he was a lumberjack. The guy was just built like, you know, like the brawny paper towels guy. Like he was huge. And he actually wore that shirt all the time, you know. And just the plaid shirt. Yeah, he just was this huge, like hulking of a at least at my age, you know, he was this hulking of a guy. And uh he was scary just by looking at him. Like he didn't have to do anything, he was scary. Now, I did endure a little bit of the wrath of that when um You had your eyebrows, eyebrows, eyebrows at Ashley. Well, Ashley, well, here's the thing. All right, so you're a kid, you're like seven, eight years old. It's like 1980, right? I don't know. And you know, you might be in a garage and you might be like, see this, I'll show you that. You know what I'm saying you know, the game.
SPEAKER_00Oh, doctor.
SPEAKER_01Well, uh, that kind of got back to her dad. Next thing you know, the uh the on the house door, and you're like, what is that? And all of a sudden it's Ashley's dad wanted him to talk to my dad.
SPEAKER_00And that's why you're scared.
SPEAKER_01And it was like, oh, well, yes. So, I mean, obviously they had a conversation of somebody wasn't appreciating something.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01Uh, I mean, I did. Saw boob.
SPEAKER_00And that was the first and last time.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Uh I mean, how old was I? Nine.
SPEAKER_00For these Nelly tickets, why were you scared of your friend's dad?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's gotta be a reason. I just described Ashley's dad as he reminded me of Bigfoot back in the day with Brawny the paper towel guy's body. Like, never smiled, always made you wonder, is he going to kill me?
SPEAKER_00Uh, you can text in, you can voice message in, download either the Wink106 app, the Twin Tears Magic app, the My Radio Jams app, and then tell us why you were scared of your friend's dad. I'll tell you mine in a second. It has to do with a lawnmower. Oh, you do have one? Yes.
SPEAKER_01So I think everybody's had a father they were scared of. Exactly. Exactly. And we need why. You can't just be like, oh, my friend, uh, my friend Mary's dad.
SPEAKER_00I need more. Yeah, why were you scared of your friend's dad? Best one gets Nelly tickets.
