I had to turn down the trip of a lifetime and I'm almost kicking myself about it.
SPEAKER_01I'm all ears, because for you to say no to a trip is like you saying no to a brewery on a weekend. It's almost an impossibility.
SPEAKER_00Listen. Where am I going?
SPEAKER_01You got me this week.
SPEAKER_00I know. But it has to do with you. So just be glad. Okay. Be glad. Maybe you're not glad at that I turned this down, but this is the text message I get. Hey you. This is my cousin Melanie. My cousin Melanie owns her own business. She does really well for herself. Okay.
SPEAKER_01So what is it with the people that are in your life? You had a friend of yours sell his business, have no clue what he did, made trillions off of it, wants to take you to Vegas. Wait. Now there's this. Wait, listen. How do we end up on this end of the mic?
SPEAKER_00Not right. She goes, hey, I'm not sure if you have any extra vacation, but you would you want to go on a cruise with me and my boys? Uh I have an extra spot already paid for, thinking that you'd want to go. It leaves from New York City August 4th to the 8th.
SPEAKER_01Ah, I see where you're going there. Yeah, there's our conference coming up.
SPEAKER_00Hold on. Do you want to know the location? Turks and Caicos.
SPEAKER_01Turks and money. That's so exotic.
SPEAKER_00I know, and I've I've always wanted to go to Turks and Caicos. And the very last line: no cost to you other than getting to New York City.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. Hop in the car.
SPEAKER_00Well, here's the question.
SPEAKER_01Here's the thing, though. What really kind of throws me is How many people want to take me on vacation? There's that question too. Yes, that's a piece to that. No, let's back this up for just a second here. What? Either you were not the first choice, like she's trying to sell it to you in the beginning here. I was not. Uh-huh. I was not. All right, reread that beginning. I want to hear how she wrote that. This is such a thing.
SPEAKER_00Well, I can tell you who her who her first choice was. Well, sure. It was her sister.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um, well, okay.
SPEAKER_00Who cares?
SPEAKER_01But listen to the way she wrote it to you.
SPEAKER_00Hey, you not sure if you have any extra vacation, but would you want to go on a cruise with me and my boys? I have an extra spot already paid for, thinking you'd want to go.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh. Stop. Right there. But not really thinking you'd want to go because her sister was the one that was supposed to go in the beginning.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Lena, that's her sister's name. Lena can't take that time off of work. And then I thought of you. So I didn't exclude that part on the first time I read it.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, but now that I'm putting it in perspective, let's be real. You are choice number two. Not thinking you were the one that wanted to go. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's still a great offer.
SPEAKER_00If I'm sloppy seconds, I'm okay with it. You are. In this case, you have totally.
SPEAKER_01It's like right there. But who books these things without locking it down first? I remember when you were booking the sphere trip. Uh-huh. This was uh when you went and saw No Doubt, this was a yes, I want to go. Yes, I want to go. I I mean, I who does it without confirming this? Actually, this is happening in my house right now. Tiffany just bought stagecoach tickets and for next year. And and go with her. I'm not saying I'm not gonna go.
SPEAKER_00Sounds like you're not gonna go.
SPEAKER_01No, I just it was like one of those things that was sort of like there was no pre-conversation.
SPEAKER_00Well, if I was buying stagecoach, I automatically in my mind am going, well, you're right, there's gotta be a pre-conversation.
SPEAKER_01You gotta have some conversation.
SPEAKER_00In my mind, I'm going, I'm taking Zach with me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't care that she bought him and that she's going. That's not the point to it.
SPEAKER_00Well, I wasn't saying that.
SPEAKER_01The point to it is is well, there's two points. One, you are sloppy seconds, and but being trying to sold as though you're the first choice.
SPEAKER_00Oh, and I know I'm not the first choice, but I it's funny because I think because she just buys an extra ticket no matter what, going, someone will want to go for free.
SPEAKER_01And then tries to sell it and get a first choice.
SPEAKER_00Whether it's like a high school girlfriend, so basically, I'm second, at least I wasn't third. I just don't live in that world.
SPEAKER_01You might have been third, you're right.
SPEAKER_00But then I I was this close to going, you know what? I will cancel, not cancel, but I was gonna see if our so here's what's happening. Scott and I are we're supposed to be in a conference during this time. Yes. In Cleveland, of all places, which is my hometown. So I thought maybe I should reach out to see if they bought the conference ticket. Because if not, then I'll go to Turks and Caicos instead. But then I thought, I can't leave Scott. I can't Why not?
SPEAKER_01There's many days to come over the course of 2026 yet that you'll be leaving me. I survived.
SPEAKER_00I was thinking not l no, I was thinking not leaving you at the conference by yourself.
SPEAKER_01Oh, oh well that would suck, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But that's why, that's why, because it's the exact same time we're at that conference.
SPEAKER_01Which deals with exactly what we do every single day. So I can see, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's why I I thought, I'm not gonna leave him.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, I mean, this is this is almost as good of a sell as I th I was thinking of you, that you wanted to go.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no. But I here's what I was thinking. Here's what I was thinking. You should appreciate that I just Oh my god, how you just womaned me.
SPEAKER_01You just now I have to appreciate you for something. I am done.
