I'm gonna start with this text that just came in from twenty six forty eight. Samantha asked, she goes, Is that just the first check that's being put into that savings account? Or every check afterwards from there that this what you said 16-year-old's first job, right?

SPEAKER_01

Uh yep, and it's every check until she's eighteen. Okay. So that's the first one.

SPEAKER_02

Every check's working a ton of hours during the summer to try to well make as much money as she possibly can.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, every check until she's eighteen will go into well, it will go to her parents, which then in turn goes into an account, and that account, uh the the at least this is what they're saying now. We're gonna give it back to you, but not till you're eighteen.

SPEAKER_02

Now I want to be very clear on something. This young lady did not go into this under no, she was not told this was the way it's gonna be. She said, I'm going to work at Burger King and I'm gonna work my tail off every hour that I legally can, uh, you know, throughout the summer, which first of all, I have to applaud you to the highest level for doing that.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, for sure, because she probably was doing it thinking, sweet, I can buy new outfits, I can go on trips with friends or whatever she wants to do. Like maybe she wants to go to Darien for the day or go to a concert or something, and now she doesn't have that money.

SPEAKER_02

No, because her parents did not say in advance, and that's the part that really is the bad optics here is the parents didn't even say in the beginning, sure, go get a job, that's great, but here's the way it's gonna work. Uh no, they just took the first check. Probably because the parents were like, Well, if we tell her that in advance, then she's not gonna go get a job. Anyway, I want to come over to uh 5609. Go ahead, Melissa.

SPEAKER_00

My personal opinion, I think her parents are correct. Sort of. I think that she should be allowed to have at least half as an allowance. So that way she knows she's actually working towards something. But to be honest, that girl is gonna thank her parents in the long run. It's just gonna teach her how to save money, how to be frugal. And she's gonna have a lot of it when she turns 18.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I think she's gonna have some resentment too.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I like it. She goes, I agree with the parents, but actually you didn't, because the parents aren't giving her a dime. Right. You know, they're not. They're they're they've just taken they're just taking it all, claiming that's our money. There they said that. They said that's our money. Now, like I said, in certain households, sometimes financially, things are rough. And as many people that can work as to help sustain the household, but that doesn't sound like it's this situation. That's not one of these.

SPEAKER_01

It sounds like they're too strict on trying to teach her a lesson. Somebody also said 60 30 10 rule. What is the 60-30-10 rule? Because I tried to look it up.

SPEAKER_02

I think it's this, and it could vary. It could be 60% to savings, 30% to uh maybe a cause. You want a car. Oh, okay. 30, 30 of it goes to that, 10 goes to just blow it money. Fun. Fun money. So that's that's my thought. We'll come back. There's more messages, but yeah, I I I know the parents have good intentions, but it's the way that they're executing it. Three, two, one. You're listening to Scott and Allie. Scott and Allie's big three.

SPEAKER_01

The running of the bulls begins today. Something that has always been kind of on my bucket list to go watch. Not to be in! Not to be in I love adventure, but not that much. Super Typhoon Bavi, which ta caused total damage to Guam, is now heading towards Taiwan and eastern China, and is expected to bring destructive winds from Friday through Monday, with gusts up to 160 miles per hour.

SPEAKER_02

Here goes that weekend.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh. The Trump White House released a report accusing the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History of promoting, quote, radical activist ideology. The document, titled Saving America's Story, claimed the museum's exhibits are anti-white, pro-illegal alien, and pro-transgender for highlighting pop culture artifacts such as Hamilton Mickey Mouse. Oh, not Mickey. And what's wrong with Mickey there, Sam? I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I know he's goofy.

SPEAKER_01

Ba-bye! And a California family is suing the Nugget Hotel Casino and Resort in Sparks, Nevada for negligence. After they found a live bat in their hotel room, seven adults and four children. First of all, that's a lot of people in a hotel room. Anyway, they said it spoiled their vacation. But according to the lawsuit, the hostel hotel staff captured the bat but released it before it could be tested for rabies. So now the family says we have had a lot of painful vaccinations. It's very time consuming, and now we want money.

SPEAKER_02

You know what this sounds like to me? You said seven adults and four kids, or what was it? Uh huh. You know what this sounds like to me? What? Uh they didn't feel like paying for that hotel stay. Right? We got seven adults and four kids in the hotel room. Uh, you're probably sitting there going, Um, how do we find a way to not pay?

SPEAKER_01

And it's expensive. Yeah, for sure. There's the big three.
