This is what kills me about bird nerds. What? Uh Kelly, I'm calling you right out. 9743. So I started the show. I said, I think I need Zach to swing by for just a minute. Uh we have to go to the front of the house and find out. Because I have this little teeny little bird. I thought it was like a little finch or something. It probably is a finch of some kind. And uh or it could be a tit.
SPEAKER_00Uh I'm hoping it for your sake that it's a tit. A black boobed tit. Yes. Does it look black? Yes. Okay.
SPEAKER_01So at any rate, uh, I think it's living in- Could you actually see it?
SPEAKER_00Because I can never see it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, well, here's what happened. So I think he's living in this little basket of I thought they were fake flowers or eucalyptus or whatever. It's a bit decorative basket on the front of the front door. So when I go to open the door to go get the mail. The bird's like, ooh, this is nice. Yeah, well, no, he uh he he he takes this little beep and he f he lands right on this gutter area where you know the downspout, if you will. He's like, Pardon me, excuse me. I was a little bit different. He actually flies a little bit closer. I'm like, should I put my finger on? Are you just gonna come sit on my finger? And well, here's the problem with the bird nerds, 9743. It was good, everyone. Scott, sounds like you have a junko bird. Okay, well, you're not helping me here. What's a junko bird? Or were you waiting me for for me to Google this? Yeah. I guess I could do that.
SPEAKER_00Junko birds are very small.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Possibly. Did you see our our kind of looks like that, but then when you get to birds that size, they all look that way.
unknownI know. I can't tell the text.
SPEAKER_01Happy little dude, though. Oh, it's a dark-eyed junko.
SPEAKER_00Ah, did you see that our co-worker has a deer that comes straight into our yard and her the deer was like eating out of her son's hand, will like kind of like play with her son.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to Tick City.
SPEAKER_00She b oh yeah, I didn't even think about that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's a Megan. This is a terrible idea.
SPEAKER_01You're absolutely gonna want to have the uh antibiotics on hand.
SPEAKER_00I saw the TikTok yesterday and I was like, oh my god, look at this deer. It's like nudging it, Liam, and just being so sweet. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Baby though? Baby deer?
SPEAKER_00It looks smaller. Yeah. I don't know. I didn't ask if it's no spots, though. I said, can I see your license, please?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Can I scan it before you buy it old enough to drive? Before you buy these deer cigarettes. Oh my god. Deer cigarettes. Now, if if anybody's going on a first date this weekend, is this a yes or a no for you? Going on a walk on a first date. I was listening to this podcast and it's called Jillian on Love. She always is giving out like relationship love advice. I just love it. I eat it up.
SPEAKER_01I must have missed that.
SPEAKER_00I know you did. I know you're really trying to improve on your relationship daily.
SPEAKER_01It just sounds like the worst podcast I've ever heard of.
SPEAKER_00It's awesome. I love it. And she but she said she's completely against walks on first dates. Like, this is the season to do it. Why wouldn't you go to a park and do a walk or park or market street or whatever?
SPEAKER_01Something.
SPEAKER_00No, she says that it because you're you're almost distracted and you're not looking at each other, you're walking next to each other, that you should actually be making a connection by looking at each other, which is why if you go to dinner, you sit in front of the person, you're talking and you're making that connection. But honestly, I feel like I think she's wrong on this one. Right. I that's what I was thinking too. Because when Zach and I get home from work, a lot of times we'll go walk junior, and that's when we'll talk about our day. We're connecting. I mean, granted, we connected prior to these regular walks, but I just think it's a great way to connect.
SPEAKER_01Here, I'm gonna go a little weirdly deeper on this. I think uh I think she missed the boat on this because there are some baby hurdles to get over in the very beginning of what I don't even want to call it a relationship, of a getting to know you period. Okay. The first little hurdle to get over. Well, not the first, but one of the hurdles to get over, you'll you'll know. Eating in front of someone.
SPEAKER_00Oh, god, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Never there's always a touch of anxiety because when I first got with Zach, it was like now I'm like, wah, wah, wah, wah.
SPEAKER_00Give me two of those. I've got smears of mustard down my cheek. How did I get in my hair?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Who knows? But you know what I'm saying? Like, there's that whole, like, especially if it's a dinner date at that point, you know, it's like there's the anxiety that goes with that. So there's these baby hurdles. What I kind of like about the idea of a walk on a first date is um you're gonna find out how you pace with each other. Are you slow? Are am I too fast? Am I too slow? Are you a stopper all the time? And now I'm like, wait, I've been talking for where'd you go? You know, there's a lot of I I honestly okay, maybe in New York City where there's an alley that somebody can push you down and do horrible things to. I can understand that reason of not wanting to go on a walk.
SPEAKER_00That just went extreme.
SPEAKER_01Well, I know, but I'm saying I could see if she had said, well, you want to be careful, you want to be cautious, you don't know the person. But I understand the connecting, but I also think you can connect walking around. You really want to here's how you really find out if you're compatible. How? Go to a vendor fair with the person. Now hear me out. Hear me out. Okay. So get on these vendor fairs. No, no. So Tiffany and I, this is a dead serious one. Tiffany and I uh go to one in Hammondsport every year and it's laid out. If you were to look at it with a drone, leave it to the guy in the room to be like, I'm gonna make a vendor fair sound cool, I'm gonna bring in drones. If you were gonna look at it from a drone down, it's it's laid out like a star in their little center park. It's like, here's the center and spokes on the wheel out. Yep.
SPEAKER_00And it's I know exactly what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_01Whatever reason, the best laid-out vendor park, uh vendor fair. When you go to one where it's like in that, you know, sort of square or rectangle setup and it's like an outside ring. You don't like that? I get weirdly lost. Like I'm like, ah, but here's here's what you do.
SPEAKER_00You're gonna find out real quick. How is the simple thing such a struggle? I don't get lost in the square. Yeah, you're never gonna be my my my co-pilot on a trip.
SPEAKER_01But hear me out on this is if you are a person that's sort of like, oh, that one doesn't interest me, and you keep moving by, but the other person's like, nope, gotta stop at every single one. It's one of those weird ways you know, can I do this with you? I think the walk is actually the smarter thing to do.
SPEAKER_00I think that's the one that that's for you because your significant other is very interested in vendor fares. You can't apply your scenario to everyone's scenario. No, but it there is a lot of them. I will be at one tomorrow. There you go.
SPEAKER_01And there'll be eight more around the the community too. So really come get your bring your first dates. Yeah, I'm telling you.
SPEAKER_00See how it goes.
SPEAKER_01See the pacing, see what they're like, you know, see see what they buy. See what they buy, see what they want to sample.
SPEAKER_00If they buy lots of popcorn, keep them.
SPEAKER_01Yes, if they buy us the pickle stand, if we spend an inordinate amount of time there and really get to get to know the person, yup, keep them, yes.
SPEAKER_00The t the decorative towels. Bye bye.
