It's been a minute since I sat here.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. About a week or so?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, about a week or so. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Welcome back, you guys. Everybody's the first day of school. It's here, yes. Oh, and I will tell you, I was down in Waverly on Saturday and it was like a whole street pep rally.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that thing sounded so good. I was listening to your broadcast, going, I feel like I should drive down right now.
SPEAKER_00It was so much fun. And it really got me amped up for school. All the all the sports teams were there. And I mean from golf to volleyball to even like the little kid football teams. Yeah. I don't remember what they call them. But small fry. Yeah, they called them something else. Pre-reck or something. I don't know. I don't know. It was it was a name I was like, oh, okay, I never really heard that. But anyway, uh and and it just was the it was the setting of the tone. And even yesterday, a girlfriend of mine, she's a teacher. She also has two kids, and she's like, What's everyone doing for their last day of summer? Because my kids and I are kind of like at the end of our rope of doing activities.
SPEAKER_01Right. You kind of use like a lot of times, maybe something you do on Labor Day, but then the rest of the time you're like, everybody relax. Just relax, get some rest here. Because you know what else happened? What? Years ago, it was the big thing. You start prepping your kids for the get up schedule like a week ahead of time. Oh, my mom always did that. I don't feel like does anybody do that anymore? Or do you just like all crunch it into the Labor Day weekend? Like I know on Sunday night, I'm like, well, Gavin, you're gonna be in your bed laying down at 8 30 at night. I don't care what's going on.
SPEAKER_00And what did he say? Was he like he was actually okay with it?
SPEAKER_01I think he was even at the point where he was like, I'm tired.
SPEAKER_00Well, that and I I think just getting back to normal. Yeah. When I go on vacation, I would I just want to get back to normal. So I think that their little bodies want that too.
SPEAKER_01I I I would go with that. I would also say it's weird because this summer, for whatever reason, was a blink of an eye. Oh my god, I know. It was not there was like normally, and here's the other thing wasn't the hottest summer. If you think about it, I mean, I know technically summer's not over, but if you think about it, we had that one heat dome at the end of June. It was not unbearable the rest of the summer.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was perfect. Back to the whole like going to bed at a certain time, too. I think by the time right before summer uh ends, it just gets to a point where I'm like, okay, I know as a kid I'm gonna have to. I like I cannot give my mom a bunch of crap. At first, you're kind of like, oh mom.
SPEAKER_01I don't think most kids know that. I think the parents know that and wish the kids knew that.
SPEAKER_00My mom was so strict that I was like, oh mom, and she's like, no, no, I don't want to hear any of it. Like, get in that bed right now.
SPEAKER_01And you listen to the kids playing outside because they're the ones not getting up on time tomorrow.
SPEAKER_00That was what it was. It would be bright out. You could hear people outside. I'm like, why am I laying here?
SPEAKER_01I know, but and now we all wish we could be in bed by five.
SPEAKER_00Oh my God, yes. Yes. I saw a neighbor the other day, and she it was like 5 45. I was getting some some bonfire wood from her for the Labor Day weekend, and she was like, I'm already in my pajamas. Yeah. At 5 45, I'm like, good, good for you. Good for you. Yes, good on you.
SPEAKER_01We've got uh buses that are gonna be back today. This is gonna be a weird day because you've got a lot of stuff that you don't normally see or haven't seen for like three months.
SPEAKER_00Oh, a lot more traffic this morning, that's for sure. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Buses. Now I know in Pennsylvania you're going, yeah, this has been going on for a few weeks now. All right, for everybody else, though, that's happening. There'll be kids walking, school zones. Remember the speed limits, and I promise you, the West Elmira cops already out. They're not even parked. I look every day to see, I'm like, somebody out already patrolling. Yeah, they're there's they're already out.
SPEAKER_00You know what was a precursor for me? Elmira college students. How many times now I have to stop in front of Elmyra College? Because they're walking? Yes, I haven't done that in so many months. And then I've just noticed in the past week, and you see a lot more younger faces. So you know those are the freshmen who are just mosing around campus. Getting acclimated. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that was a good uh I would say a little pre start to school was going through that Elmira College zone.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, kids to get ready. All right, on the way, uh, let's see here. We'll cover a a bunch of texts. We've got some big Nelly news, which is coming up this Friday. This Friday.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_01Well, all right, I guess we're on our way.
