You know what BTS has done? Uh no. They've actually risen CD sales. Oh, really? Yes. They are ironically up 10%. And this is all of K-pop has done this. I don't know why, but they want, they want to listen to CDs. Which I think is.
SPEAKER_01
This is the artwork on the CDs.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, that might be part of it.
SPEAKER_01
That might be part of it, like their pictures and stuff on it.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, yeah. We used to back in the day with I would be in my bedroom and I would open up the books and I would like to study all the lyrics and see all the artwork.
SPEAKER_01
Yeah, but albums, okay, so years ago it was vinyl album covers that, well, your dad has a couple. He has a couple on display from the Beatles, you know? And that was the big thing. Then uh when vinyl first went away, which I get it, it's back now. But when it first went away and we transitioned our way into CDs, some of them, you know, you could really do a lot with like images and stuff on it. I'm wondering if that's what it is. More the imagery than the music on it.
SPEAKER_00
Or also that they're super easy to play, not that streaming isn't, but super easy to play. So Zach has been cleaning his apartment and he found the CD that he wanted me to listen to, and he asked me, Do you have a CD player in your car? I don't know. I think you do. I do. I had to look. I don't. I couldn't remember. Oh, you don't have one at all?
SPEAKER_01
No, not at all. Well, that's gonna be Neither does Tiffany. She's got a brand new uh Durango and it doesn't have it.
SPEAKER_00
Well, that's gonna suck then if they start selling more CDs. Nah, I think it's the artwork. Then what are you gonna do? Get an old CD Discman?
SPEAKER_01
You you might, but I think most of I bet you more of it is for having like an image. Uh-huh. Okay, if you've ever been on not everybody has these, but like a display case that would have CDs in it. We used to get these from record labels all the time. Like, uh oh, thanks for playing pink 7,000 times, and they'd send us like this display. I have actually one hanging in my office. Um, that I don't think they do it really much anymore. Probably not. But it's got the I think it's the image the what they can put on them. It's like the artwork they put on them.
SPEAKER_00
Uh-huh. Uh, what was your first CD? My friend Ashley told me the other day Nellie was her first CD. Get out! I swear to you. So she's so excited for this show. Yeah. Because she knows every single word to every single song. And we have another pair of GA tickets to give you. What was your first CD? Text us in. And then, because I know mine. My I sang mine to Zach the other day. Remember All for One, I Swear.
SPEAKER_01
Oh my gosh, yes.
SPEAKER_00
Yes, that was my first one. And it was a CD single. I'll never forget. Uh, text us your very first CD and we'll not vinyl.
SPEAKER_01
CD, not cassette. Has to be a CD.
SPEAKER_00
Then you guys tell us what it is. We'll pick one of you that's gonna get GA, and you're gonna be in the running for the party pit passes and the signed Nelly guitar, too. Wow.
SPEAKER_01
So you just you're you're giving them the chance to really up it. Oh, heck yeah. All right, we'll see. Oh, this is a great one, and it makes so much sense. Backstreet Boys.
SPEAKER_00
Oh, yes. That's a great one.
SPEAKER_01
Yes, yes. Yeah, 1779 said that. That totally is it. Okay. Yeah, yeah. No C here's Merle again. No C D player either. Uh in their vehicle. Kind of sucks. All right. What was your first C D? Let's see what you guys come up with, and we'll uh we'll we'll we'll randomly give it to somebody.
