Deuteronomy 8:6 --- Therefore, you shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.
Now I know that I have already touched on this topic of having a healthy trembling fear of the Lord in past teachings and podcasts. But I sincerely believe that the Church really needs to hear more on this topic! Many of God’s people have gotten biblical ‘lazy’ and spiritually ‘soft’! And many of God’s people have allowed themselves to believe the lie that says because our Heavenly Father just llllooovvveesss His children sssooo much (kissy, kissy)…He would never, ever do anything to ‘harm’ them! P.S. I know that Ananias and Sapphira no longer believe that!
So I emphasized the point about the lack of good, solid, spiritually deep teachings about Believers needing a healthy trembling and reverent fear of the Lord in part fifteen of a biblical journey thru the Book of the Acts of the Apostles.
Psalms 25:14 ---- The secrets of the LORD are for those who fear Him and to those He will make know His covenants.
Now, I have been saying for years that I believe that the Lord has put ‘a touch of’ the prophet Jeremiah or Isaiah in me. So that means that many times our Heavenly father is going to have me tell the Church what they need to hear…and not what they want to hear! (So stop being so whiny about what I share! Being ‘whiny’ ‘exposes’ your lack of concern for biblical Truth.) Now, I will balance out my views about what I believe the Scriptures say about our holy and just Heavenly Father being a God to ‘trembly’ fear…with the fact that this same holy and just God can also be kind and compassionate! I said can be kind and compassionate! The Lord is not kind and compassionate to His children just because they are His children! That kind of ‘feely’ spiritual thinking comes from all those biblically ignorant Believers who are living their Christian lives in some imaginary spiritual La-La-Land! The Bible tells us (over and over and over again) that the Lord is kind and compassionate to those children of His who ‘fear Him’ enough to honor Him with their undivided attention!
Psalms 33:18 ---- Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness…
Seems oxymoronic to speak of fear and lovingkindness in the same verse! But you need to understand that the Lord is pleased when His people fear Him…with both a reverent fear and a trembling fear! And the Great I AM is worthy of both types of fear!
Psalms 103:17 ----- But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children…
So again, contrary to what many of you are taught, the Lord is not kind and compassionate to His children simply because they are His children! God’s kindness and compassion are conditional! Just as our Father’s goodness and peace are conditional.
Psalms 103:13 ---- Just as a father has compassion on His children, Yahweh has compassion on those who fear Him.
Psalms 103:11 ----- For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
The word fear in all these verses is the Hebrew word for trembling, shaking in your boots fear!
Here is a great New Testament verse about trembling fear!
2 Corinthians 7:1 ----- Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
