Legislators visit Maude land to get first-hand knowledge By Codi Vallery-Mills A continuance has been issued in the Charles and Heather Maude theft of federal property case in South Dakota. The new court date is July 22, 2025. The Maude case dates back to June 2024 when ranchers Charles and Heather Maude were notified they were being indicted for theft of federal property. For generations, the Maude family has ranched alongside grasslands held by the United States Government and managed by the U.S. Forest Service.
