July Cattle on Feed: USDA Posts 15-Year Low in Cattle Placements

Cattle on feed as of July 1st, 2025, were estimated to be down 0.8% versus a reported 1.6% decrease versus last year. Cattle marketed during June of 2025 came in 4.4% lower than a year ago opposed to the average trade estimate of a 3.6% less marketings. However, the biggest surprise came from placements. Analysts pegged placements in a range of 96-101% of a year ago, with the average guess being 98%. USDA...
