A Gradual Rebuild of the Cow Herd
The question most asked of CattleFax analysts this fall has been whether or not the U.S. is in herd rebuilding mode. That’s according to Mike Miller of CattleFax who spoke at the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association Convention and Trade Show on Dec. 1 in Deadwood, S.D. Miller says his answer is cautious, as there are many variables at play in today’s cattle sector. CattleFax is saying a herd rebuild with heifers being retained is slowly starting to happen, “We are beginning to turn this ship,” Miller says.
